College Goal Georgia Parent Workshop
The Worth County
High School Guidance Department has scheduled a
parent workshop offering
FREE help completing the
Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA). The
workshop is scheduled for
March 12, from 6-8 p.m. in
the WCHS Media Center.
High school seniors
who will be entering college in
2015-2016 are encouraged to
attend the College Goal Georgia event.
The FAFSA is the
federally required form for all
students seeking financial
aid, including federal and
state grants, loans and workstudy programs.
Financial aid experts will be available to
guide students and their
families through completing
the FAFSA, submitting the
application and answering
any questions. For more

Goal Georgia and what you
will need to bring to the event,
visit collegegoalsundayga.com.

Worth County Schools (WCS) will be offering a computer workshop for parents on
March 26, 2015. For your convenience the workshop is being offered at two different
times. It is being offered at 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Board of Education (BOE).
The BOE is located at 103 Eldridge St.
Mrs. Christy Haskins, WCS technology instructor, will present
the workshop. If you are interested in attending one of
the workshops, please contact Kathy Conger by March 25, 2015
at 229-777-8439 or email kconger@worthschools.net. There is a
limit of 12 people per class.
Do you wonder what your child means when they say iPad,
cloud, apps, link, or website? Perhaps you would just like to
know more about how computers work? We can also access school websites, powerschool (parent portal), Georgia Dept. of Education (GaDOE) website, classroom internet resources and much more. WCS hopes that parents will take advantage of this
offered resource to help stay informed, communicate with their child’s teacher and
overall have a better connection between you and your child's school.

Prom Dress Code
GIRLS: · Skirt length and slits should be no more than 3” above the kneecap. · Back
should not be exposed below the natural waist. · Chest – if any skin shows beneath your
hand when your hand is placed on your chest with your index finger on your collar bone
on one side, and your thumb on the collar bone on the other side, your dress is too low cut.
BOYS: Homecoming · Dressy Casual · No Shorts · Shirts may not be removed during the
dance · Tuxes or suits- Guest of students may not be over the age of 21. All guest who are
not WCHS students must be pre-approved by an administrator. (Form in media center) If
you have any questions, please see an administrator.
Tickets: March $50 each and April $60 each
Worth County High School Will Offer
Three Intervention Days During Spring Break
Intervention Days will last from 8 A.M. to 1
P.M., March 30-31and April 1. No transportation or meals will be provided, but students
will have a break to eat a snack from home or
purchase a snack from the vending machines.
Students need to sign up in Ms. Shearer’s
office to attend Intervention Days.

Raise a Reader with Margaret Jones Public Library and Worth
County Primary School’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten
This free program encourages you to read 1,000 books with your
child before he or she enters school. One of the best ways to encourage learning is to spend time sharing books every day.
Reading together helps develop important pre-reading skills that
provide a solid reading foundation—a key to school and learning
success. Plus, sharing stories together is fun!
Participation is so easy!
1. Register your child at Margaret Jones Public Library.
Your family will receive a book bag to keep upon
registration.
2. Record each book you read on your log. If you read a book
more than once, you can record it each time. Books read at
library storytime, at daycare or church also count!
3. When you finish 50 books, bring your reading log to the
library and receive a sticker. Begin your next reading
log.
4. After finishing 1,000 books, your child will receive a
book. Best of all, your child will get a great jumpstart on success at school!

This club has no end date except your child’s entering kindergarten, so don’t feel rushed—just enjoy the experience! Take
every chance you have to read with your child, talk about stories, sing songs, and attend library programs. By reading just
three stories a day you and your child will have read over
1,000 books in one year. You will also have shared many
special moments along the way.
The library is a fun place featuring books to check out, free
programs, and great suggestions for what to read. Stop in
often and talk to our friendly staff—we are here to help.

A copy of the Comprehensive LEA Improvement Plan (CLIP)
and the WCHS School Wide /School Improvement Plan (SW/SI
Plan) are available for parents to view in the front office. Both
plans can be found on WCSS website as well. We will be glad to
assist you with any questions you may have.
Please encourage your child to visit the
guidance department to pick up an application before/after school, between
classes, and during lunches. If you
have questions about any scholarships,
please do not hesitate to call or email
your child's counselor, and they will be
happy to assist you.
Also, a copy of the school level Parental Involvement Policy and
district level Parental Involvement Policy is available in the front
office and may be found on our school website at
www.worthschools.net.
Parent Resource center
The Title I Parent Involvement Resource Room is available from 8:00 a.m. until
3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. The resource room has an extensive collection of materials that can be helpful to your student. Please feel free to come by or call 229-777
-8439 and speak with Kathy Conger, Parent Coordinator, about the materials available for check-out.

The Elementary and Secondary Education Assistance Act of 1965 (ESEA)[Section 1111 (6)(A)]
These regulations allow you to learn more about your child’s teachers’ training and credentials. We are happy to provide this
information to you. At any time, you may ask:

Whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teaching,

Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived, and

What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and
major(s) or area(s) of concentration. You may also ask whether your child receives help from a paraprofessional. If your
child receives this assistance, we can provide you with information about the paraprofessional’s qualifications.
