La Festa Italiana Itinerary
“The Pizza Capital of the World”
Mangia, mangia, mangia! You won’t leave any
one of our nearly 25 “pizza parlors” hungry! You
have to taste is for yourself but folks swear by
this stuff – it’s shopped all over the country by
Old Forge pizza purists!
Northeast Pennsylvania’s celebration of Italian culture and cuisine,
featuring over 80 vendors serving a wide variety of ethnic
specialties, baked treats, desserts, and much more! Held
annually on the Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of Labor Day
Weekend, come to Scranton, PA to celebrate Italian heritage and
experience the Electric City all weekend long!
DOMA Importing Co. Italian Market
Visit DOMA Importing Co. in Dunmore for every Italian ingredient
you could ever think of: meats, cheeses, gravies, pastas, sauces,
olive oils, vingears, olives, peppers, garlic, beans, Italian sodas
and more! DOMA also carries pasta makers and Italian ceramics
and novelties. And don’t forget the dolces!
Maiolatesi Wine Cellars and Nimble Hill Winery
Italians love their vino, and Northeast PA has some
great local wineries. Make a trip to Maioletesi Wine
Cellars’ Winery and Tasting Room, located in the rural
outskirts of Scranton, offering a wide selection of wines
all year round.
Italian Mass at Saint Peter’s Cathedral
For a real taste of old world Italy, attend
this Catholic mass spoken entirely in Italian
on Sunday morning. You don’t have to speak
the language to appreciate the beauty of this
service. All are welcome to attend.
Nimble Hill Vineyard’s Wine Tasting Room, located in East
Tunkhannock along PA Route 6, sources their grapes from
all over Pennsylvania, including Mehoopany, Tunkhannock,
Dushore, and West Chester.
Food and Dancing at La Festa Italiana on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
Choices, choices, choices! You won’t know where to turn! Eat on
the street, surrounded by great Italian fare: pizza, calzone, eggplant
parmesan, cannoli, Neapolitan’s, oh my! The fun really gets started
in the evenings with different live bands, singers, and Italian dancers
that perform throughout the night. Bring your boogie shoes because
there’s dancing in the street in front of the grand stage and a great
fireworks show at daylight’s end. Forget about the carbs this weekend – have fun and live la vita bella!
