Chris, a logistic officer by trade recently completed
his tour as the Commander of the Army Field Support Battalion-Riley supporting
Soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division with field training missions. And just this past
July 2013, Chris was transferred to Ft. Meade, MD. Where he is with 1st Army, G4.
Chris spent five years assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Ga.,
where he deployed multiple times 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry
Division.
He also was the executive officer for the 703rd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th IBCT,
3rd Inf. Div.

Meet your Marne Rider Assistant Safety Director
Dan Jeffries was born and raised was raised in a small town joined the
U.S. Army right out of high school. After basic training, he was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division Military Police Company, serving
there from June 1988 through May 1990. Dan graduated from patrol
dog handler’s course at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas and was
assigned to the United States Military Academy Provost Marshall’s Office as a K-9 handler. After ending his tour of Service, Dan became a
member of the Marion Police Department in Indiana, where he was a
patrol officer, shift Sergeant, and in charge of the fatal Crash Team.
Dan recently moved from Indiana to Texas and is now a Traffic Safety
funding Specialists at the Texas DOT. Dan was previously employed
by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, the highway safety office for
the State of Indiana. He was responsible for the Drunk/ Impaired Driving and Motorcycle Safety programs, managing the federal grants
awarded to the State of Indiana in these areas.
A rider for 29Years, he is a graduate of the Kevin Schwantz Motorcycle School and is currently
on a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard. So, as you can see, Dan’s MC Safety background is just right for
the position of Marne Riders MC Safety Director.

Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield is
conducting safety awareness training
and policy enforcement regarding motorcycle safety requirements.
Motorcycle riders wishing to ride on
Stewart-Hunter must comply with Department of the Army Regulations and
installation guidelines.
For access to the installation, motorcycles or mopeds, 50cc or higher must
be registered, according to IMSESTW
Regulation 190-5, dated Feb 14, 2011.
Applications for registration of motorcycles and mopeds (50cc or higher)
will be processed in the same manner
as provided for other motor vehicles.
Soldiers operating motorcycles or mopeds (50cc or higher) are required to
complete an accredited Motorcycle
Safety Foundation Course from any
military installation or outside agency
prior to permanent
registration being issued.
All registration decals consist of the
DD Form 2220, an installation identifier
tab, and a rank insignia (if applicable),
and will be placed to be easily identifiable.
Military personnel who operate a privately or government-owned motorcycle/moped are required to attend and
complete an approved Motorcycle Defensive Driving Course prior to operation of the motorcycle/moped on or
off the installation.
Upon completion of the course, personnel will be provided with a MDDC
card. Personnel are authorized
to operate their motorcycle/moped on
the installation for the purpose of attending the Motorcycle Safety
Course. Attendance may be verified by
contacting the Installation Safety Office.
Operators of privately or Government
owned motorcycles
and mopeds must be currently licensed by civil authorities to operate
motorcycles or mopeds on public
roadways. Mopeds will not carry passengers unless specifically designed
to do so. Headlights must be kept
on at all times. A rear view mirror will
be attached to each side of the handlebars.
 Operators and passengers
will wear a properly fastened protective helmet, proper eye protection
and high visibility garments (bright
color for day and reflective for night).
A motorcycle or moped windshield is
not proper eye protection.
 Military personnel will wear brightly
colored reflective safety vests at all
times when operating motorcycles/
mopeds while wearing the Army
Combat Uniform. (ACU). Reflective
safety belts are not authorized in lieu
of the safety vest.
 All riders will wear full fingered
gloves, long trousers, long sleeved
shirt or jacket, and leather boots or
over the ankle shoes while operating or riding on or off the
installation.
NOTE: For military personnel, the
failure to wear required safety equipment while operating a motorcycle
and/or moped either on or off of FS/
HAAF, in addition to possible UCMJ
and/or Administrative action,
could also result in an unfavorable
line of duty investigation

Maintain your bike so it is safe
too. Keep records of the intervals when you replace tires,
chains, clutch cables, batteries,

equipment malfunction to contribute to a motorcycle accident.
Practice riding under all kinds of

With the lost of our Web Administrator, the MR webpage was slowly being outdated and with
no volunteers or personal experience with webpages, I had to shut it down.
Overtime, I have been viewing another internet tool that I believe will open more avenues for
Marne Riders and Society membership and mainly for motorcycle chatting on MC Bike Trips,
New and Old bike models, Maintenance, Safety, Racing, Parts and Accessory for Sale page,

A new kind of Marne Riders Page is coming to the Internet
With the lost of our Web Administrator, the MR webpage was slowly being outdated and with
no volunteers or personal experience with webpages, I had to shut it down.
Overtime, I have been viewing another internet tool that I believe will open more avenues for
Marne Riders and Society membership and mainly for motorcycle chatting on MC Bike Trips,
New and Old bike models, Maintenance, Safety, Racing, Parts and Accessory for Sale page,
and 3ID Society and Division News. And for paying Marne Rider memberships, access to other pages within the forum.

So, now that you have an idea of what we are looking at, I sure you will agree that this will
open and introduce more 3ID Veteran MC riders to the Marne Riders and the Society. If my
schedule permits it, we should have it up and running within a few months.

The Society of the 3ID 96th Annual Reunion
will be held June 25 - 28, 2015 in Charleston, SC. More information will be forthcoming when available.

Help Wanted
The MarneRiders is need of help with the operation of the club in the following areas:
Membership Chairperson—Help with receiving, processing, and maintaining the membership roster.
Editor: The duties of the Editor shall be: Assembling and organizing written, oral (broadcast) and
electronic material for the Marne Rider Motorcycle club newsletter on a monthly basis. Work with
the Web Page / Forum editor on material.
Quartermaster: The duties of the Quartermaster shall be: Shall maintain the club inventory of
Marne Rider Patches, Shirts, and other paraphernalia for the purpose of selling to members.
Forum Monitors: More information coming, but basically assist with the new MarneRiders Forum
and keeping clean of junk and moving posts into appropriate sections.

I hope you enjoyed this edition of the way Over Due Marne Riders Courier and want you to know that
the next edition will be even better. Especially with more contributions from fellow Marne Riders.
Attached to the Marne Riders Courier is the 2014—2015 Marne Riders Membership Application and
hope you continue your membership with the Marne Riders. If you decide not to, it is understandable,
but I do hope you continue your membership with the Society of the Third Infantry Division.
Also, If you need one of the new 9” reflective Marne Rider patches, I have attached the Marne Riders
QM order form for your benefit.
