Farm Name:
Schartner Family Farm was started by Richard Sr.’s grandfather as a dairy farm in the 1930s with 100 acres
of land. Eventually they began selling produce and the farm stand opened in 1973. In addition to fruits, veggies
and plants, the farm stand also sells fresh soup, sandwiches and baked goods. The 300 acre farm is now run by
Richard and Nancy Schartner, and their sons Richard Jr., Tim, John and Jeb. They grow pick-your-own strawberries
and blueberries as well as corn, tomatoes, garlic, onions, potatoes, pumpkins, lettuce, peas, peppers, eggplant,
flowers, and Christmas trees.
In their own words:
Richard Sr.’s favorite saying is “Embrace the possible!” And all the Schartners love their team farming lifestyle
– “You have to – it’s a 24/7 job!”
