New Wimbledon Theatre
Open House
19 September 2015
Tours and Workshop Programme
Dear Visitor,
Thank you for your interest in New Wimbledon Theatre as a participant of Open House London 2015. As a busy touring theatre, it
is often impossible to give people the opportunity to see all facets of our beautiful 104 year old venue so we are delighted to be
doing so on Saturday 19 September.
This booklet provides you with more detail on the day’s activities so you can plan your visit accordingly, and we can promise
there will be something for every generation. Gain an insight into the building’s architecture, history and sustainability plans, or
you can relax in our decadent Piano Bar, where you will be entertained by music covering our 11 decade history.
The majority of our activities are entirely free and open to all (general admission, or booking in person on the day). However, two of
the more in-depth tours will have a nominal fee of £4 for admission (to cover the overheads of the event itself). To pre-book these
in-depth tours, visit our inhouse Box Office between 10am and 6pm Monday to Saturday, or book via our website.
I do hope this booklet whets your appetite for what promises to be an incredible day at New Wimbledon Theatre; my team and I
look forward to seeing you.
Calum Kemp
General Manager, New Wimbledon Theatre

Ghost Walks
Rumour has it that among the red seats and dark corridors of New Wimbledon Theatre,
supernatural residents roam who reveal themselves to audience members when the
spirit moves them. Paranormal Investigator and author of Paranormal Surrey, Marq
English, says there is a ghost of a chance the rumours might just be true. Mr English
has been working on the Stage Door of New Wimbledon Theatre for the last decade
and can shed light into some obscure tales haunting The Grand Dame of The Broadway.

Now’s your chance to come and see what all of the fuss is about; either by sitting back and
enjoying the entertainment or by singing your show tune(s) of choice accompanied by our
beautiful baby grand piano and compere Nathan Jarvis. No sheet music necessary – just bring
plenty of enthusiasm. You can expect to hear songs from shows old and new, from Avenue Q
to Yentl (we couldn’t think of a musical beginning with Z... that you’d have heard of, anyway).
Pirate Treasure Hunt!
Get dressed up in your pirate costume and march on down to New Wimbledon Theatre for a
magical Peter Pan inspired treasure hunt.
Your first challenge is to collect a bag from our ‘Ahoy Box Office’ before following the clues on
the treasure map to find your way through the enchanting theatre to Wimbledon’s treasure. Stay
focused and don’t get distracted by Hook, Tink and all the other fun surprises along the way.
Arts and Crafts
Find your way to the Lost Boys’ Cave to indulge in family fun. Whether you’re a lost
boy, pirate or fairy there will be something for everyone. We have singing and dancing,
colouring in and a chance to win tickets to see our fantastic panto, Peter Pan.
There will also be costumes for the little ones to dress up in, face-painting, stories and
much much more.

our rich history.

To tie in with this year’s panto, Peter Pan, we are offering six lucky 8-16 year olds the
chance to fly like the Lost Boys, Tinkerbell and Peter Pan! This competition is a once in
a lifetime opportunity and will be a chance to have a flying lesson on stage with skilled
practitioners for a session lasting 30 minutes.

you are available on Saturday 19 September between the
