We started out the month of May with the NCPCA cruise in. It was great to hear the stories about the boat trying to follow a laid out course at a certain speed. It takes a lot of skill and calculation to guide your boat on course with the wind and the tides trying to move the boat off course. We enjoyed a great group of boaters. What a fun time. The next weekend was KaBoom fireworks. It was very windy and foggy. Some of the high fireworks were up in the fog and we saw the glow but not the actual streams of the rockets. The lower fireworks were beautiful. Double Dharma (Dale and Dena) as well KaBoomBoom (Tony and Paula) were there to witness the event. JULY-AUGUST 2008 The following weekend was our club dinner where Kurt hosted with comfort food! His special meatloaf and potatoes were a big hit. As we settled into our membership meeting, we had presentations from the board about the activities in their area. We also had an introduction of a new member, Bill Fordyce. He is a great guy and has lots of stories. Welcome aboard Bill! Well the next weekend was our sail out to Half Moon Bay. We had Deseado and Double Dharma sailing there. Dan and Tony sailed Deseado and Dale and Dena helmed Double Dharma. Bob and Michelle Haynes and Robin Jernigan did the land cruise to enjoy the fun. It was a beautiful sunny time, unusual for Half Moon Bay. The rest of the inland actually had the fog. It was just a reverse of the normal weather. In June, we held our first Boaters Swap meet, organized by Julie and lots of help by Dena. We had a great turn out with about 11 tables and lots of stuff that got sold. And “swaped!” Excellent job everyone. I’m sure we’ll have a bigger and better one next year. The following weekend we had our progressive dinner on the docks party in a Greek toga theme. It was a wonderful time and great weather to be in togas and enjoy some fabulous food, all of Greek variation. July and August are going to be just as much fun. We are going to have a July 4th cruise out and get this a car and motorcycle show. Then in August it heats up with the fun day and chili cook off contest as well as all kinds of crazy games to make you laugh. It is a family event so everyone come on down. It is summer time and everyone has lots of activities. I would ask you to make time for the friends you have at the club and join some of the events. It makes memories for you and the club. Join us. Vice Commodore Kurt Blankenship Welcome Aboard! Please welcome our newest member to our club – Bill Fordyce. You’ve seen him around – mostly grilling. Bill is a long-time friend of Kurt’s, doesn’t have a boat (yet), but is a great guy and fits right in. PAGE 2 If you haven’t already met Bill, be sure to introduce yourself next time you see him!
