Omar’s statement sheer lie: Hurriyat (G)
Srinagar, Apr 12: Reacting to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s
yesterday’s statement that Syed Ali Shah Geelani wants no other
separatist icon should become bigger than him, the Hurriyat Conference (G) today termed it as “a sheer lie loaded with expediency.”
“The state rulers are, on the one hand, claiming that they working for alleviating the sufferings of people but, on the other hand,
they take every step on the dictates of their masters in New Delhi to
add to the woes and miseries of people,” said a spokesman of Hurriyat in a statement today.

Sweepers strike affects sanitation
Islamabad (Anantnag), Apr 12: Sanitary conditions have worsened here as the strike of the Safai Karm Charis entered the third
day on Friday.
In absence of sanitation measures, locals faced immense
problems. Heaps of garbage could be seen scattered in streets of
town and by-lanes. The Safai Karam Charis of Municipal Council
here are on strike for the past three days, seeking release of salary,
deposition of General Provident (GP) Fund and release of seven
percent arrears.
Executive Officer (EO), Municipal Council, Islamabad, Bashir
Ahmad Nanda termed the strike of the employees as unjustified. “I
had released two month salary of the daily wagers few days ago only.
So they have no reason for going on strike,” he added.

Srinagar Apr 12: Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned arrest of two employees of Power Development
Department (PDD) in Sumbal
Sonawari.
In a statement, the chief
spokesman of the party Naeem
Akhtar said the two employees
have been arrested “apparently
without any valid reason only to
satisfy the ego of a minister who
represents the area.”
“This episode is as a classic case of Andher Nagri Chopat
Raj, Akhtar. Omar Abdullah
government is implementing
this saying in the very literal
sense. On the one hand the government has reintroduced its
trade mark era of darkness in
Kashmir and on the other hand
the people are punished even for
trying to provide themselves a
temporary relief through community efforts,” Akhtar said. He
demanded immediate release of
the officials and withdrawal of
cases against them and the residents of Tarigam.
