Paper Bead Bracelets
Paper Bead Bracelet
Basic supplies:
• Colorful paper (old magazines, catalogs,
gift wrap, scrapbook paper, etc.)
• Bamboo skewer or toothpick
• Glue stick
• Elastic cord, thread, or yarn
• Scissors or paper trimmer
This simple craft is a great
way to start a discussion
with your group about
how moms in other
countries help care for
their families.
Women in Uganda use
recycled paper to create
colorful paper beads.
By selling their handmade
jewelry, they earn money
to feed their children,
send them to school, and
save money for the future.
Optional supplies:
• Clear nail polish
• Seed beads (size 4 or 6)
Instructions:
Women in Uganda can support their
families with jewelry made of recycled
paper beads.
1. Trim paper into long, skinny triangles—
for example, 11 inches long by 1/2 inch.
A paper trimmer works best, but
scissors will also do. The triangles
don’t have to be perfect.
In this kit you’ll find all the supplies you need to make
one paper bead bracelet.
2. Wrap the wide base of the triangle
around one end of a bamboo skewer.

5. Let beads dry, then string together on a
piece of cord, thread, or yarn. Knot the

Tips:
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization
dedicated to working with children, families, and their
communities worldwide to reach their full potential
by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.
• Try different paper sizes. Wider paper makes taller beads,
while longer strips make thicker beads.
• Don’t roll beads too tightly, or they’ll be too difficult to
remove from the skewer.
• The last two inches of your paper will show the most color.
