Parents: Our bus drivers are having a lot of difficulty
entering the back parking lot in the afternoon. We
have several cars each day that pull into the lot and
park along the side drive way. Please do not pull into
the back lot unless you intend to park your vehicle in a
parking space. Thank you for your cooperation and
understanding.

Compassionate Pink
The phrase “in the pink” means a person enjoys good
health and good fortune. Pink is thought to be a calming color, at least when someone initially experiences
pink surroundings. The color is associated with love
and romance, but also with friendship, caring, and
tenderness. It is acceptable to give pink flowers to a
friend.
The Compassionate Pig
Cover your pup’s ears: pigs are smarter than dogs.
And while accused of being dirty, they are actually
clean animals. They roll in mud to cool off.
Most domestic pigs are descended from the wild
boar, or Eurasian wild pig. It is the largest wild pig.
Its cousin, the warthog, is the only pig adapted for
grazing on grasses. The rest of the pig and hog family eats a variety of food – plant matter, fruit, small
animals. Pigs don’t gobble up just anything, actually;
they’re picky eaters! They have a super sense of smell
and specialized snouts which they use like bulldozers
to forage for food.
The majority of the world’s pigs are raised on farms
for meat. One type of pig, the Vietnamese potbellied
pig, is a popular pet – though much smaller than its
cousins, it can still weigh well over 100 pounds when
grown.
Pigs are highly social. In the wild, females and
young live together and males live solo or in bachelor
groups. Both wild and domestic pigs talk to each
other in grunts, squeaks and squeals. They greet one
another by rubbing noses and cuddle with each other
to sleep.
Pigs have come to each other’s rescue in the wild
as well as on farms, standing by an injured animal,
for instance. They readily bond with dogs, people,
even turkeys and chickens. Pet pigs have alerted
other people when their human was in trouble. When
someone they’re bonded to is hurting, pigs want to
help!
Pigs show compassion by responding to the needs
of others.
Labrador retrievers make great service dogs
because they love to help people.
Recorder Order Form
Fourth Grade Parents: We will be starting the OH-SO-EXCITING journey of
learning to play the RECORDER. Many of the students have been asking ALL

unit in January.
Recorder Packages cost $10.00. Please return this form along with $10.00 cash
or check by Tuesday, December 15th. Checks need to be made out to Sampson

Pre-Registration for Winter Parties
Friday, December 18, 2015
*Only one guest per student will be allowed to attend the party.
*No siblings will be allowed to attend the parties.
Parents with PTO badges must also pre-register to attend the parties. Party
Volunteers must also register through V-Soft.
We will be sending home all pre-registration stickers on December 17th. Please check your child’s backpack for your
sticker on Thursday afternoon. If you do not have a sticker you will need to check-in at the front office on the day of the
party.
For the safety of our students and in order to accommodate the large number of visitors that attend our
Winter Parties, we are requesting that everyone pre-register. Visitors who have not pre-registered will need to wait in
very long, time consuming lines and could miss the party. No exceptions will be made.
Please note: We require all visitors to check in through our V-Soft Parent Access system. If you (or someone you are
pre-registering) have not had an ID scanned at a previous event, you may stop in at any time and have your ID scanned
to save time waiting in line the day of the event. All visitors should be prepared to present a photo ID even if they
have pre-registered.
*Party Times*
9:45 – 10:30 for AM PPCD, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd
11:00 – 11:45 for 3rd, 4th and 5th
Please note: Parents that have pre-registered and will be checking their student out after the party – you may check out
in the classroom. If someone other than the parent is checking your child out you will need to send a note in the
morning and your child will need to be signed out in the front office.
RSVP Pre-Registration Form – please complete and return to your child’s homeroom teacher by Tuesday, December 15th.
No pre-registrations will be taken after 4:00 pm on Tuesday, December 15th.
