FALL
Do I need to water my trees, shrubs
and perennials?
All plants require plenty of moisture in fall
to ensure roots stay hydrated during
fluctuating winter temperatures. Use a
Ross Root Feeder or soaker hose to
thoroughly water all trees, shrubs and
perennials.
Can I prune in the fall?
Yes. As leaves drop, the canopy of the tree becomes
visible, making it easy to trim and shape. Please
note: Elms must not be pruned prior to October 1st, due
to dutch elm disease.
Is it too late to plant trees or
shrubs?
Fall is actually an excellent time to plant.
The cooler fall temperatures allow for
premium root development for plants. Be
sure to water plants in well with a
transplant fertilizer such as Plant Prod
Root Booster.
I had many pest problems this year,
can I do something now to prevent
this?
Rake up and dispose of all leaf debris,
eliminating a spot for bugs and diseases
to overwinter. On woody plants, an
application of horticultural oil or lime sulphur
will reduce certain insect pests and fungal
spores.
