About ORV~WBC
Ohio River Valley Women’s Business Council (ORV~WBC)
is an organization for women business owners interested
in promoting, developing and maintaining business
relationships with other women business owners, major
corporations and governmental agencies through
certification, opportunities, resources & engagement.
ORV~WBC is one of 14 regional partner organizations of the
Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
ORV~WBC was established in March 2009 to provide
premier WBENC certifications to women-owned businesses
in the states of Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
ORV~WBC operates under the Urban League of Greater
Cincinnati’s Business Development and Entrepreneurship
Center through a collaborative effort with WBENC. Women
Business Enterprise (WBE) certification is required by
numerous private-sector companies and governmental
agencies. Currently, over 850 women owned companies are
certified throughout our region.
Certification
Certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise
WBENC provides the most widely recognized and
respected third-party certification of businesses owned
and operated by women in the United States. Through
ORV~WBC, your business can apply for a certification that
is accepted by over 700 major corporations and many local,
state, and federal government agencies. For certification as
a WBE, a business must be at least 51% owned, operated,
and controlled by women. Recertification and membership
renewal are required annually.
