holds in stock.
Rapid Labels is primarily a custom made label
manufacturer. We operate 13 label production
lanes, servicing clients in several markets – wine labels, food
& beverage labels, laser labels, pharmacy labels, as well as
making customised labels. We are also specialists in the
supply, service and repair of thermal printers.
Our website (rapidlabels.co.nz) has become the primary
vehicle to communicate the breadth of Rapid’s full label offer.
So this catalogue is a factual buying guide only – a handbook
you can keep close when ordering stock labels and ribbons.

barcodes
Barcode and QR Code Pricing/Verification
Barcode Creation $15 each
Barcodes are created in our Prepress Studio. Clients
need to supply the barcode number and advise the
format required. All supplied barcode art is recreated
in the Studio to ensure barcodes are compliant to
GS1 specifications.
The cost for barcode creation is $15 per barcode, eg
5 barcodes $75.
QR Code creation is also $15 per code.
GS1 Artwork Verification Report $35 each (on request)
On request a pdf of the final proof is emailed to GS1 for Artwork Verification. The report
does not verify the final printed product - only that the artwork specifications are correct,
eg size, height, light margins, the structure of the barcode number, check digit. Once
received (allow 48 hrs) the report is forwarded to the client as a pdf.
The cost for Artwork Verification is $35 per barcode, eg 5 barcodes $175
Production Verification Report (no charge)
Printed labels are checked by Rapid Labels with a GS1 Certified Verifier to ensure
compliance to GS1 print quality recommendations.

Rapid Labels is not authorised to issue GS1 barcode numbers. These can only be issued by
GS1 New Zealand.

Barcode Formats
GS1 advises the type of barcode format required when the numbers are issued, depending
on the use of the product eg EAN-13, EAN-8 and UPC-A formats are commonly used for
Point of Sale, ITF-14 for Trade Units, and GS1-128 (formerly known as EAN/UCC-128) for
variable data.
Other formats are available, contact GS1 for information.
The last digit of the barcode (check digit) is automatically calculated by the software.
The minimum barcode size recommended by GS1 for EAN-13, EAN-8 and UPC-A is 80%
(please note 80% size EAN-13 barcodes result in a finished size of 75% when thermal

printed), and 50% for ITF-14 and GS1-128. Bars must be full height
and colours and light margins must comply with GS1 specifications.
