Dvar Torah Time - Associated Beth Rivkah Schools
Dvar Torah Time “Here” said the father as he handed his son a package. “I made it just for you.” The son opened the parcel to find a beautifully tailored coat. Its size, color and design were perfect. The son was overjoyed with the gift and he wore it proudly. It always reminded him of how much his father cared for him. Then, one day, the son ruined the coat; it could not be mended. With eyes full of tears, and a sorrowful heart, he turned to his father. The loving father forgave him. Soon, he presented his son with a new coat which was just as beautiful as the first. The son was very grateful and careful. He did not want to ruin this coat like the first. But time passed, and the second coat became soiled as well. The son was very troubled when he saw that it could no longer be worn. “How many times will my father forgive me?” he wondered. “I do have a third coat for you” the father told him after he saw what happened. “But this time, I will wait. I will not give it to you until you are ready for it. In the meantime, although you may not wear the coat, I will show it to you occasionally so that you can see what I have waiting for you.” This story is a parable. What does the coat stand for? Who is the father? Who is the son? Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev told this parable about Shabbos Chazon, theShabbos before Tishah BeAv. Chazon means vision. He said that every Jew is shown a vision on that Shabbos. HaShem, our Father, allows His son, the Jewish people, to catch a glimpse of the third coat, the Third Beis HaMikdash.Like the father, HaShem is waiting to see that we are ready to receive this gift. We are preparing ourselves and the world around us, and we do not want to wait any longer for Mashiach to come and to rebuild the Third Beis HaMikdash. We must try very hard to show HaShem that we are ready. (Adapted from Likkutei Sichos, Vol. IV, Parshas Devarim) Taken from Please Tell Me What the Rebbe Says Bais Rivka Day Camp 5775 B”SD Newsletter Parshas Devarim Volume 2 Issue 1 To our magnificent Moshiach Mountain Dews, My oh my, that has been one fun week! Monday was inflight to Moshiach Day. Our HCs were our stewardesses and the Rebbe - our captain, as we all flew to greet Moshiach. After Tzivos Hashem, baking and art, we went to Dumbo Park straight into the sprinklers. Let me tell ya - it was so refreshing on that hot summer day. On Tuesday we had a hunt around our building, measuring objects from the length of the bus to the height of the Activity Director. This was the catch - we measured everything with english cucumbers, and had to race all the other bunks in doing so! It was supreme! Then we had a 10 Mivtzoim Carnival, each race depicting another of the ten mivtzoim that the Rebbe stressed. It sure was fun and we learned a lot! We ended off the day with a grand game of Cut the Chocolate! On Wednesday we played Twister with shaving cream and awesome water activities in the playground! It was great!! We went to Plaster Master, where we each got to paint something beautiful! A police officer broke the news out to us that we wouldn't be having camp the next day.. It was so sad and upsetting until we realized that Color War is here, Color is here, if you are lazy, you are craaazzzyyy... And lazy we weren't on that bright sunny day of Thursday. Color War was a smashing success - the girls all worked so hard on their skits, banners, badges, Dvar Torahs, dances, and songs. We learned so much about "I'm a Chossid" (working on ourselves) and "Hand in Hand," (helping others and going out there.) We all worked so nicely together and really got to express lots of talent! We ended off the spectacular week on Friday with all those bubbies and zeidies coming in for a great Shiur and a super sensational Science Show! It was so cool! And of course, with our fun weekly Shabbos Party! Looking forward to seeing our good old mates - Davening Dr. Pepper next week! Our most amazing campers learnt about the qualifications for Chezkas Moshiach and Moshiach Vadai, played an awesome game of Moshiach-themed Pepsi and Coke and discussed how we need to demand Moshiach now! Color war taught us about the importance of Avodah Im Atzmo and Avodah Im Hazulas. Ask your incredible camper to share with you why her team’s theme is so special; she will have a lot to say! This week’s mission is to call bubby or zaidy or an elderly friend or relative to wish them a good Shabbos and to tell them all about our exciting week. Remember to bring the papers back on MONDAY with your checklists to get POINTS! In A Flash In A Flash
