stopping there. They just expanded to

Crow & the Pitcher
Chef Alex Capasso has officially made the
transition over the Ben Franklin Bridge,
from the now-closed Blackbird in Collingswood to Crow & the Pitcher in Center City.
Nothing on the menu at the new digs is
over $25, and there’s a temperature-controlled cheese room for dairy aficionados.
The cheese service will be rolled out in
carts formerly used by Georges Perrier at Le
Bec-Fin. Lunch and weekend brunch service
to come. 267 S. 19th St., 267-687-2908,

Chip Roman of Mica and Blackfish
in the suburbs and Ela in Queen
Village has taken his talents to Center
City. This bilevel space with exposed
brick and a rustic vibe offers small
and large plates, plus dishes made
for two to share, including a dry-aged
Berkshire pork chop. Start the night
off with chickpea fritters and deviled
eggs with duck confit.

Cafe Ynez
Nicole Marquis’ always-hopping HipCityVeg
is a fast-food vegan restaurant that
somehow manages to appeal to the
carnivores too. Now Marquis is taking her
food philosophy a step further with a bar

Lolita
Change is a good thing, if you ask Midtown
Village restaurateurs extraordinaire Marcie
Turney and Valerie Safran. They gave their
10-year-old Mexican gem a total revamp,
adding a 16-seat bar and a chef’s counter
facing an open kitchen. More importantly,
they got their hands on a liquor license, so
you can stop in for a margarita made with
freshly squeezed fruit and veggie juices.
The new menu, inspired by Mexican street
food, is more causal than in Lolita’s former
incarnation. 106 S. 13th St., 215-546-7100,

Townsend
Townsend Wentz, last the executive
chef at McGrossen’s Tavern, is getting
in on the hot East Passyunk food action
with this namesake spot, delivering
a very short, sophisticated menu.
