iOS EMM Enrollment Process
This document shows the steps necessary to connect your Apple phone or tablet to
WUSM-secure Wifi through the Airwatch Application

Connect to the internet
either using the
“Guest” wireless
network, or your
mobile data service if
available on your
device.

Download the free
Airwatch Agent from app
store.
Launch the app once
installed.

One the initial screen,
select Server Details
to continue.

For the Server enter: mdm.wusm.wustl.edu
For Group ID enter: accounts
Press Next in the upper right to proceed.

Enter your WUSTL Key (your
email address without
@wustl.edu)
and password.
(This is the same login you use
on Wash U computers).
Press Next in the upper right
to proceed.

Select the appropriate ownership of the device.
Options are:

Corporate Dedicated – A
device purchased by Wash U,
but used exclusively by one
individual. An example
would be a work provided
mobile phone.

Corporate Shared – A
device purchased by Wash U
and shared by multiple users.
An example would be a tablet
device that is shared across
the department, or a mobile phone used for an on-call rotation.

Employee Owned – A personal device purchased by an employee or student that would
like to use it to access the WUSM-Secure network.
Once you have selected the appropriate field, press Next in the upper right of the screen.

Read the Terms of Use, and press Accept to
install, or Decline to cancel installation.
Select Redirect & Enable at the bottom of the screen to continue.

Click Install when prompted.

If you already have a
passcode set for your
device, you’ll be
prompted for it to
continue.
Your device will need to
be passcode protected for
security.
You may see a
message about the
profile being unsigned.
– click Install to
continue.

iOS will display a
prompt about the
permissions being
granted to manage the
device – click Install
We are ONLY using the
permissions that allow us
to ensure your device
complies with existing
Wash U Policy.
These policies require:

The device to have
a pin or password
set.

The device to have its storage encrypted.

Provide all WUSM Departments the ability to remotely WIPE mobile devices (e.g. in case your
phone containing confidential information is lost).
These polices will not require;

The tracking of the device.

Inventory of applications installed.
If you have any questions concerning these policies
please contact the Information Security Office
at infosec@wustl.edu or 747-2955.
You may then see an additional pop-up, ensuring that
you trust the Wash U Profile for remote management.
Click Trust to continue.

The next dialog should inform you that the profile has
been installed – click Done
The screen should look like this.

AirWatch will declare
the enrollment process
has completed.
Once enrollment is complete, the device will start receiving profiles pushed to the device.
Presently the only profiles that are pushed across the University are for Passcode and Encryption.

If your iOS device
already has a passcode,
then you won’t have to
do anything further.
If you have not setup a
passcode, when you
return to the home
screen, you will be
prompted to set one up.

Your passcode
must be at least
a 4 digit PIN.
You may
choose a longer
passcode with
letters if you
choose.

Once you have done these steps, you can connect to
WUSM-secure.
Select WUSM-secure from the Wifi menu under
settings
Under Username enter: accounts\ then your
WUSTL key (no spaces).
Under Password enter your WUSTL password
These are the same credentials you use to log
into any WU computer (Your WUSTL key is
your email with @wustl.edu removed)
Once you have done this select Join. It may take
a few minutes to connect.
