The ISHSKO Centre. specialises in , mercury free dentistry, holistic diagnostic testing, and medically supervised detoxification. All services and products are based on reputable research findings. We use non-invasive techniques that enable you to maintain and improve your most valuable asset - your health. By paying attention to the whole person and to the interdependence of the several parts, we help you to reach your personal best by suggesting proactive, wellness-oriented life style choices. Our passion for this subject makes us a valuable resource for all who aspire to the best possible natural health-care. Becoming a patient at the ISH SKO CENTRE The ISHSKO Centre welcomes several types of patients of all ages: Patients already familiar with and incorporating healthy living choices in their daily life, holistic dentistry is a logical addition to their lifestyle. Patients interested in learning about healthier lifestyle options and may be concerned about their mercury fillings. Patients suffering any form of degenerative disease and are looking to improve their health by removing any obstacles like possible heavy metal toxicity, food allergies, chronic infections, constipation etc. The ISHSKO CENTRE specializes is Safe biocompatible dentistry and is the only integrative holistic centre in Ireland combining Controlled Mercury filling removal under IAOMT safety protocols , with nutritional and structural therapies in order to prepare patients prior dental treatment commences and support the body’s detoxification pathways during the time Fillings are replaced. For that reason the centre has developed a “Signs and Symptoms” questionnaire (see this information pack) in order to evaluate the baseline health status of the patient. The scoring helps the team to advise on which assessment would be appropriate. For patients scoring below 30 , removal of mercury fillings can be started after a 2 week nutritional supplementation called HMD detox pack, which mops up free toxins and supports the kidney ,colon and liver detox pathways. The ISHSKO CENTRE recommends to combine the dental assessment with the Basic Autonomic Response Test for patients scoring over 31. Patients with scores indicating critical imbalance are advised to book the Full holistic assessment. This allows for an individualised the treatment plan and the team can support the patient specific health challenges. After the assessments a follow up appointment is scheduled with the dentist and nutritionist to discuss the treatment plan. (please allow 10-14 days for the protocol to be developed) After the last mercury fillings are removed an Autonomic Response Test is advised to find out the best way for the body burden of toxins to be chelated. 2 Depending on the level of health new patients have the choice of three types of assessments. Our centre asks you to complete and return the necessary health questionnaires . The team will asses the most appropriate assessment for you in order to provide the most cost effective and time efficient appointment: 1) Patients in good general health: New patient standard holistic dental assessment. (€150) 2) Patients with mild to moderate health issues: new patient standard holistic dental assessment combined with a Autonomic Response Test to assess the functioning of the autonomic Nervous system. (includes follow up appointment with nutritionist) (€470) 3) Patients suffering degenerative disease: new patient comprehensive holistic dental assessment combined with a comprehensive Autonomic Response Test and Heavy Metal challenge Test. And, when these efforts fail, we get our cavities filled with "silver". Most people would be shocked to discover that those "silver" fillings are actually composed of over 50% mercury - the most toxic non-radioactive metal known to man. Over a million mercury fillings are still made world wide every year and people have had this highly toxic metal packed into one or more cavities. In fact, the average adult in this country has ten amalgam filled teeth. Worldwide there are over twoand-a-half billion people with mercury amalgam fillings, creating what many leading researchers believe to be a "toxic environmental time bomb". We do not place mercury amalgam fillings. Besides the environmental implications of mercury waste produced by the dental profession, and dental waste management, from the health perspective we do respect the overwhelming scientific evidence accumulated over the last two decades, pointing to many alarming facts concerning the unsuitability of mercury amalgams for use in humans. In many European countries, the use of mercury fillings has been abolished, and moreover, banned for placement in pregnant women and children. There is growing health awareness in the public domain and many patients are demanding full informed consent before having anything placed in their mouths. Research and clinical experience show that Mercury sensitivity and toxicity is not Dose dependent but Host dependent. One person with many mercury amalgam fillings may show no or few symptoms while the next person reacts strongly after the first amalgam filling is placed. Sudden emotional or physical Trauma can cause toxins to accumulate inside the body, and a previously symptom free patient can suddenly show heavy metal toxicity related symptoms. If you have already decided to have your mercury amalgam fillings removed, you have made an important decision towards enhancing and protecting your health. However, you should know that there are definite risks involved in the removal of this highly toxic metal. That's why you absolutely must seek out a biological/holistic/toxic-free dentist that has been trained in the proper protocol for the safe removal of mercury amalgam. 9 IAOMT approved safety protocol for mercury filling removal Prior to replacement of failing amalgam fillings, we first make sure that certain tests are carried out to inform us about the general functioning of the body’s capacity to eliminate toxins, in addition supplements are taken under the guidance of the Autonomic Response Therapy practitioners, to boost excretion processes. We then follow strict protocols set aside by the IAOMT, International Association of Metal Toxicology (IAOMT) recommendation the most important measures including: • Use of the IAOMT-approved "cleanup suction" tips and/or rubber dam. • High-volume air evacuation with mercury filters • Using an electrical drill with less RPM, and following a sectioning method of amalgam removal to minimize mercury vaporization. • Placement of moist napkins over the patient’s nose and eyes, and sometimes oxygen. • Nutritional support during amalgam removal • Chlorella lavage • Photon-Wave Detox Light Therapy session directly after dental session complete Recommendations prior to Amalgam Removal The removal of Amalgam fillings is only safely done in an environment where a dedicated team is available to support your body’s elimination process. All patient are advised to see our health team for our full assessment and heavy metal sensitivity screening. (ART Test) From the screening we can learn about the body’s function and efficiency in elimination of toxins. If there are problems with the elimination organs (Liver, Kidneys, Colon, Lungs) and their detoxification pathways, the team will develop a personal detox plan with nutritional supplementation, which are recommended to be taken, and guidelines to be followed before and during amalgam removal. It must be stressed that they are based on Dr Tim Ray’s Body Terrain Management laboratory testing, Dr Klinghardt’s detoxification protocols and Dr Patricia Kane’s Neurobiological Protocols. These nutritional protocols are well established and reported in complimentary medical and dental literature, and are not meant to treat any systemic diseases, or to prevent any dental complications that may otherwise occur. WARNING: At The IshSko Centre we encourage you to involve you GP in your dental amalgam detoxification treatment. If you suffer a degenerative disease we advise you inform your GP about the detoxification approach, before taking any of these supplements, especially if your health or excretion is compromised. Please be aware that some herbs interfere with allopathic medication, or may be absolutely contraindicated for use in pregnancy, heart disease or antidepressant therapy. The most common nutritional supplements are: Chlorella - Freeze dried Garlic – Selectrolytes – Omega 3 oil – HMD detox – HMD Lavage - Cilantro 10 Information about how to take these supplements is available from our Centre: It is generally recommended to be on these supplements at least 2 weeks before any dental treatment and continuing for at least one more month after completion of therapy. Throughout the weeks or months of treatment, it is advisable that: • A diet rich with protein and vegetables, but low on carbohydrates be followed. • Neither predator fish nor shellfish is consumed. Sardines or other small fish are OK. • No chewing gum. • Bowel movements of 2- 3 times daily are encouraged. • Plenty of liquids are consumed. (Recommended daily water in-take: half of your body weight in pounds, in fluid ounces) • Provoked sweating is recommended either by exercise, bio-energetic meditation (shaking) and/or saunas. • Plenty of fresh air and relaxation • Avoidance of vigorous exercise Mercury detoxification protocol What causes our body to become toxic? The main cause lies within our body’s failing detoxification process. The increasing amount of toxins and chemical concoctions in contaminated food, air and water, mercury amalgam fillings has been passed on through the generations. Gross dehydration, lack of exercise, smoking habits, drinking habits and our sedentary stressful lives cause oxidative stress and underlie degenerative disease. What do we need to do to fix it? Our being is an open system that is continuously on the go. We function on many levels and can be influenced at all and every one. Our emotions, physical wellbeing, the way you feel supported, the way we feed our selves, how often we exercise are just a few of the aspects that can become out of balance and compromise the effectiveness of our self regulation body functions. A detoxification plan therefore can only be prescribed on an individual basis and needs a holistic approach. However below you will find some good sensible approaches that will help you prepare for, help during and after a detoxification process. 1. Assess your levels of commitment. Detoxification can only be successful when the body and mind are in an adequate balance. Stress at home/work, lack of sleep, poor diet, smoking habits, emotional burn-out or grief, sitting in and Electro magnetic Polluted area (frequent use of computers, mobile phones, or just living in a large city) can all seriously harm the detoxification process. It is therefore strongly advised to fully assess when the best time is for a detoxification program to commence. The more one understands of one’s own health status (The ISHSKO Centre Health status questionnaire is available via our receptionist) and the subject of detoxification, the better choices one can make. It is strongly advised to self study the subject. Useful web sites are: www.mercuryfreedentistry.eu www.klinghardtacademy.com www.mercola.com - www.detoxxbook.com 11 2. Commit to healthier balanced lifestyle choices Good diet, daily intake of 8-10 glasses of pure water or water which is enhanced with H20 Plato water, regular exercise, stop smoking, sunlight, fresh air, fun, relaxation and contribution are part of achieving good health. 3. Removal all contaminants from your direct environment and diet to avoid decontamination. Check your house for environmental pollutants like paints, household cleaning chemicals and store them away from your living space. Assess the house for damp and moulds, dust mites etc. Make sure your house is well ventilated and when living in a polluted area use air purification systems routinely. Protect the house from electromagnetic pollution. The bedroom needs to be free from electrical equipment and transformers, unplug TV, clock radio’s, tea making facilities and mobile phone chargers. ( see: Sleeping in a healthy environment advise sheet). 4. Diet Food allergies play a major role in keeping the body out of stress. It is strongly advised to find a qualified practitioner to carry out food allergy/ compatibility test. There are many different techniques, books and over the counter tests that can help you find out the basic foods to avoid. Often dairy and wheat allergies cause a heightened inflammatory response which impairs the body’s digestive and elimination function. Avoid all sugar and milk, limit all processed foods and most grains, especially wheat. Read food labels and avoid food colourings, preservatives, MSG, aspartame an other artificial sugars. Eliminate the use of hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats and substitute with coconut oil for frying and cooking or olive oil. All oils will oxygenate by heat and sunlight. Oils that are stored in clear bottles need to be avoided as they contain toxic fats. Protein plays an important role in the provision of sulphur bearing amino acids, which greatly facilitate detoxification. Do NOT attempt to fast during mercury detoxification. If you are a vegetarian you will be at HIGH risk for complications from detoxification unless you have a large amount of protein. Goats Whey protein can be used as a supplement as it is high in glutathione and branched chain amino acids. Two large tablespoons are used per drink and that can be taken once a day and twice a day for the week prior to detoxification. Autistic children can't use this product as it contains casein. They can use pure branched chain amino acids. You can start with one capsule twice daily and mix with food. 5. Beneficial Flora / unbeneficial Flora The overload of refined sugars and the chemicals that lace our processed foods and drinks cause a real battle in our digestive system, beneficial flora can be lost through stress, too many too hot or to cold drinks, caffeine, medication and fizzy drinks. Unbeneficial flora can overtake and start to colonize our digestive tract. Candida fungi can overgrow and parasites can persistently reside in the digestive lumen. The level of gut dysbiosis can be assessed by a qualified practitioner. When suffering Candidiasis, much attention needs to be taken to the consumption of sugar in any form including fruits. (see Candida diet) It will therefore be important to actively encourage a better tracts environment and supplement the diet with beneficial bacteria on a continual basis. 12 Take one quarter to one half teaspoon once a day of a high potency high quality strains. It is vital to have an optimized bowel flora for detoxification. 6. Maintain two to three bowel movements per day Once every other day may be the norm, but is far from healthy. The ideal functioning of the gut would be to have the next meal push out the previous. Hurried meals on the go and a time pushed work schedule does not allow complete and appropriate digestion to take place. Give yourself time. Increase the amount of fibre in your diet, both soluble and insoluble fibre are needed to help you increase your bowel function. Insoluble fibres have a great capacity to absorb toxins and carry them through the bowel. If you are not having two to three bowel movements make certain that your thyroid status has been checked. It is very common for mercury to affect the thyroid. If your thyroid function is fine then you should add some magnesium. If you are on long-term magnesium it is important to take some calcium with it or after awhile you will develop an imbalance in your calcium magnesium ratio which could result in severe cramping. Soak 12 table spoons of flax and linseeds overnight in some red grape juice or water and consume as a jelly for breakfast. This will facilitate intestinal movement and also contribute some healthy essential fatty acids. 7. Reduce the body burden of toxins from the connective tissue with Chlorella or ProChitosan Chlorella and ProChitosan are an important part of the detoxification program, as approximately 90% of the mercury in our bodies is eliminated through the stool. Chlorella is an algae and, unlike Protchitosan, and has developed receptor fields to most environmental toxins to which it binds irreversibly , in addition it has high levels of chlorophyll and other nutrients which can be used for nourishment. The chlorella powder is the most cost effective approach but some people will prefer the tablets or capsules for convenience. A simple way to dissolve the powder is to place it in a container with a lid partially filled with water. Then tighten the lid and shake to dissolve and drink the solution. Caution: About 30% of people can't tolerate chlorella. This may be due to lack of function of the enzyme cellulase. If you are unable to tolerate this it would be wise to consider adding an enzyme with cellulase in it to help digest the chlorella. Dose: One can start out with a one quarter of a teaspoon of the powder (one 500 mg tablet) once a day initially to confirm that there is no hypersensitivity present. Work up slowly over one to two weeks to a dose of one teaspoon (ten tablets or capsules) per day. Once you tolerate this dose you are able to use it to bind the mercury. Use this dose starting two days prior to your chelation and for one day afterwards. The chlorella will thoroughly coat your intestine and bind like a sponge to any mercury that the DMPS liberates into the gut. The above dose is based on a 150 pound adult. If you are using the program for children reduce the dose proportionately. (So a 30 pound child would have have 30/150 or 1/5 (20%) of the dose). Caution: If at any time one develops nausea or starts "burping up" the chlorella taste then the chlorella should be stopped immediately as a food sensitivity is developing which will only worsen if you continue taking it. If this happens you should switch to ProChitosan This binds similarly to mercury. Its dose is dependent on your bowel movements. If you have one bowel movement a day or less you should start two days prior to the detoxification. If you have two or more bowel movement you can start 24 hours prior to the 13 detoxification. Stay on it for 24 hours afterwards. So you will be on it either two or three days. The dose is two capsules three times a day. Be sure to drink it with plenty of water and increase magnesium if constipation develops. 8. Start Garlic or MSM It would be wise to start on garlic regularly to enhance sulphur stores. Use the food, rather than the supplement garlic. Try to get in three cloves per day, but decrease the dose if your odour becomes socially offensive. Freeze dried Garlic capsules (F.D.G.)(www.klinghardtacademy.com) restore both sulphur stores. F.D.G.’s active ingredient Allium is converted in the stomach(after a full meal)into Allicin which acts as a broad spectrum antibiotic, without killing of beneficial flora. Again, as indicated in the chlorella section above, children will have proportionately lower doses. MSM is a form of sulphur which will help your body to remove the mercury. The initial dose is one capsule twice a day. Increase by one capsule a day until you are at three capsules twice a day. If you have root canals and are chronically sick you may want to increase to five capsules three times a day. 9. Start HMD or Cilantro HMD will help mobilize mercury out of the tissue so the Chlorella can attach to it and allow it to be excreted from the body. It is a strong chelator and it must be taken at least 30 minutes after a dose of Chlorella. Cilantro is only used externally on the lower extremities when metal fillings are present, otherwise mercury can be pulled out from the fillings and increase the body burden. The dose pf Cilantro is one dropper applied on the wrists and rubbed in twice a day for the two weeks preceding the detoxification. If a healing crisis develop take more chlorella and drink at least 4 glasses of water until the healing crisis is subsided. The tincture is also particularly useful for any joint pain and could be rubbed on the joint that is hurting as an alternative. You can also augment the tincture with using the herb. It is not as potent, but certainly will add to the program. However, like chlorella, many people are sensitive to oral cilantro. So, if you develop any nausea or discomfort after eating cilantro do not use it orally. 10. Mineral Replacement It is important to have a generally healthy mineral base. The body works better with toxic metals than no metals at all. Enzymes have certain binding sites that require a metal for them to perform their function as a catalyst. When you are deficient in magnesium, sodium, zinc and other minerals, the body does not let go of the toxic metals very easily. Selenium and zinc are particularly important trace mineral in mercury detoxification and should be used for most people. Generally the citrate form of minerals works quite nicely unless one has an low blood phosphorous level. It is important to not take copper or iron though unless a clinician has examined a hair analysis and or blood work and recommended these minerals. Thorne Research has Citramins II which is citrated minerals without copper or iron. 11. Hydrochloric Acid: If you do not have a sufficient amount of hydrochloric acid secreted by your stomach then it will be very difficult to ionize mineral supplements to absorb them properly. There is a hydrochloric acid reflex present on the lowest rib approximately one inch lateral to the midline. If this area on the rib is tender to palpation there is a strong likelihood the person is deficient in hydrochloric acid and would benefit from supplementation. 14 This is especially common in individuals over 50 years old, and also in individuals with food allergies. One to six capsules or more of Betaine hydrochloride is generally taken with the first bite of every meal for proper digestive support. The Betaine can be discontinued once the reflex point in non-tender to deep palpation. Monitoring Your Mineral Dosing It will be very important to monitor your mineral levels during the detoxification program. This should be done initially and at least every 6-12 weeks. Our Centre recommend a Taste test developed by Dr Kane and is available through our centre or from Nutri-link, Newton Abbott , Devon, UK 12. Digestion and Gall Bladder Support for Autism Liver and gallbladder congestion are major issues in states of toxicity. To insure that your gallbladder bile flow is functional add magnesium taurate or taurine, butyric acid. The dose of the Butyrex initially is 1/8-1/4 of capsule. Gradually increase the dose to 5 capsules 3 times daily. The Butyrex has a offensive odour which is lessened by keeping it in the freezer. Additionally inserting the powder in applesauce, raw honey or elderberry cough syrup may improve compliance. Juice Plus capsules contain digestive enzymes (containing lipase) and CCK (stimulates contraction of the gall bladder). These can be used one hour after meals containing fat. CCK is taken after dinner (high fat meal) young children 1/4 tablet adults 2 to 4 tablets older children 1/2 tablet adults 2 to 4 tablets Your ability to clear toxins will be impaired if you do not have proper fats to support digestive function. Your diet should contain adequate fat from unprocessed pure oils. Omega Nutrition, Flora or Arrowhead Mills: sunflower, safflower, sesame or fats naturally found in foods: seeds, nuts, avocado, free range organic poultry, eggs, or meats 13. Antioxidants JuicePlus Capsules are mother nature’s antioxidants and phyto-nutrients in a convenient highly bioavailable supplement. Independent Research shows its proven absorption and function. Regular prolonged use of the supplement dramatically raises antioxidant levels in both Blood and Saliva, reduces homocysteine (Marker for Cardiovascular disease) and aids in the protection against oxidative stress and free radical attack. If you are exercising aggressively you can take Juice Plus Complete prior to exercising. For information and ordering of JuicePlus products please ask our practitioners or our JuicePlus website: www.juiceplus.ie/+ev002114 14. Start Monthly practitioner monitored detoxification. You should not have chelators if you still have amalgam fillings. If they have been removed the protocol can be started on a monthly basis. Collection of the urine is then done to analyze how much mercury is being excreted.Regular B.T.M. Saliva and Urine panels may be necessary to evaluate the body’s health status and pH. 15 15. When is it safe to commence dental mercury removal. The total heavy metal burden can not be measured other then by biopsy. Blood /urine or hair analyses offer only partial insight into the burden as heavy metals are lipophylic and adhere to the fatty tissues of the main organs, including the brain, breasts and nervous tissues. Several energetic modalities have developed specific testing procedures to measure where and which organs are most affected. The ISHSKO Centre uses Autonomic Response Testing, which is developed by Dr D Klinghardt. A.R.T offer good insight in what blocks the proper healing mechanisms in the body and offers targeted solutions to remove stored toxins from overloaded organs and organ systems. This is most important prior to any dental mercury amalgam restorations are removed. 16. Avalon Light therapy The Avalon Effect is the effect one’s body gets when it is exposed to natural light and energy vibrations from the Quantum Series light therapy system; which in turn helps to stimulate the body’s natural and innate ability to heal itself. The Quantum Series uses light therapy to increase circulation, reduce pain, promote cell regeneration, speed up the healing process, stimulate the release of ATP and nitric oxide, and detoxify the system. 17. Far infra red Sauna’s The skin is a vast organ and a good pathway through which to detoxify. The use of Far Infrared Sauna’s on a regular basis has good benefits upon your general health. Infra red waves penetrate the body deeply and activate the adipose tissues to sweat out toxins. The ISHSKO Centre offers a unique DETOX program as a stand-alone relief of the heavy metal body burden as well as a support for mercury removal, which combines nutrition and photon wave to optimize the elimination process. Sessions can be booked via our centre by contacting our protocol manager on 098 26200. 16 17 Autonomic Response Testing (ART) AutonomicResponseTesting (ART) grew out of the importance of detecting and correcting problems of the autonomic nervous system. ART allows practitioners to correct the problems of the ANS and to help restore the self regulating mechanism of the body allowing the patient to return to a state of health. Autonomic Response Testing (ART) is a system of evaluation and treatment developed by Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, Ph.D and Lousia Williams, DC, ND. Dr. Klinghardt is a German trained physician who also has a Ph.D in neurology. ART uses Applied Kinesiology, Electroacupuncture (EAV), O-Ring testing, Nogier pulse, Chinese pulse, heart rate variability and other techniques to assess the health or dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. Theory behind Autonomic Response Testing (ART) To begin to understand ART one must first understand the basic function of the body's Central Nervous System (CNS). The Human body is constantly sensing and monitoring the world around us and controls, organizes and responds to its stimuli. Furthermore, our bodies as a whole are regulated internally to ensure its correct functioning. These tasks are carried out by our CNS, some parts of this system are within our conscious control and others are largely beyond our conscious control. Life circulates in our bodies by way of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is the part of the nervous system that we cannot control with our mind. It is that part of our central nervous system that is deals with all our bodies functions to allow us the freedom to live our lives without having to consciously perform hundreds of vital tasks. The ANS regulates breathing, heart rate, digestion, immune function, sleep patterns, hormone regulation, blood pressure, blood sugar levels, tissue regeneration, and liver and kidney detoxification. Imagine if we had to consciously remember to breath, digest our food, beat our heart, grow our hair, control our immune system, regulate our temperature, balance our hormones etc. etc. These tasks, and many others, are the responsibility of our Autonomic Nervous System which regulates millions of signals and responses within our bodies every hour. The ANS is in direct contact with every cell, muscle, and tissue, and it knows exactly what is happening inside our bodies at all times. It is our functional nervous system. The Autonomic nervous system is made up of two parts: the sympathetic nervous system (SNS), and the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). Generally speaking, if your body were a car, the sympathetic nervous system acts as the accelerator, or speeds things up and the parasympathetic nervous systems acts as the brakes, or slow things down. Healthy people have a normal, healthy functioning ANS and can regulate between having brakes on (parasympathetic dominance) and having the accelerator on (sympathetic dominance). This is referred to open regulation in terms of ART. Some people do not have a normal functioning ANS to varying degrees. Sometimes the ANS seems to be stuck with either the brakes or the accelerator on. This is called autonomic dysregulation/ blocked regulation. In ART, 'blocked 18 regulation' refers to the inability of the ANS to self-regulate and is usually caused by 7 common factors. These include: undiagnosed food allergies, heavy metal toxicity, Environmental chemical toxicity, chronic unresolved infections and scars, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ/ Jaw), unresolved psychological stress, and electromagnetic stress. Dr. Klinghardt has developed specific tests for these factors and treatments to correct them. There are many more issues that threatens the state of ‘homeostasis’, or balance in the ANS and can cause the ANS to not function properly. Icluded in this group are: Jewellery including glasses, watches, belts. Synthetic clothing, underwire bras, cell phones, pagers Food Allergies Electromagnetic stress Psychological Issues Malocclusion Spiritual Issues Structural Problems in the body Dehydration Scars Nutritional Deficiencies Reverse Organ Spin Heavy Metals Solvents, pesticides, herbicides Environmental toxins Toxic Nerve Ganglia Infections Man made prosthesis Geopathic Fields Visual Issues When your body is in a state of blocked regulation, this means that most of the intelligent bioelectric energy called your vital force is being used to do something in the body: Clean, fix, detoxify, balance, etc…Blocked regulation tell us that you do not have any excess energy to heal and that most of your energy is being used to hold together an overwhelmed body so that it can stay alive. If your regulation is blocked, your ability to heal is severely limited. Anything you or anyone else does for you will not work with any amount of satisfaction until you figure out why and what is blocking your regulation. 19 So why would you need to have your ANS tested? And if you did, what happens then? The focus of ART testing is to determine ANS imbalances in very specific ways. ART tests are designed to create responses from the ANS to determine its correct function or otherwise. ART uses Applied Kinesiology, Electro acupuncture (EAV), O-Ring testing, Nogier pulse, Chinese pulse, heart rate variability and other techniques to assess the health or dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. All these procedures are totally non-evasive to the patient. If a person’s ANS is compromised then the results of ART testing will show such changes and whatever might be causing an imbalance. During the first visit to the ISHSKO Centre, our team -using ART -will evaluate the patient with a special attention on identifying any of the factors that are blocking a patients ANS regulation. This is accomplished through a review of the patient's medical and dental history and a exam that includes applied kinesiology and nervous system evaluation. Once the blockages have been identified, our team will create a tailor-made treatment plan that will address these problems. A typical visit may reveal that a patient has severe wheat allergies, heavy metal toxicity from the mercury in their teeth, and a scar from a past appendix surgery that are all causing stress on the ANS. The primary treatment for this patient would include scar therapy (using neural therapy, wheat germ oil, or cold laser), dietary advice to avoid wheat and gluten grains, a “mop up” supplement protocol to address the heavy metals and a referral to our biological dentist to replace the mercury fillings with a bio-compatible material. In addition, our team may prescribe natural remedies including homeopathic drainage, vitamins, minerals, herbs, essential fatty acids, amino acids, exercise, meditation etc. Thereafter it is also possible to use ART to monitor the effects and changes to the ANS to the findings of the ART diagnosis from any prescribed treatment. This provides an accurate and reliable double edge sword of both diagnostic and treatment therapy. Autonomic Response Testing is often effective when other conventional and alternative treatments fail and is effective for most chronic and acute illnesses of the 21st century. These include but are not limited to allergies, chronic pain, chronic infections, immune problems, depression, anxiety, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, pre-menstrual syndrome, menopause problems, cancer, diabetes, seizure disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, closed head injuries, sinusitis, digestive problems and many others. Anyone can find a therapist and request a test using ART. This may prove useful to not only ailing individuals but also to those wishing to maintain a state of good health too. Much depends on the results of testing and only after a full and complete test will you have the details of your own personal state of health as far as your ANS is concerned. Treatment may involve detoxification, dietary changes, conventional medical treatment, psychological interventions, a course of herbal medication, supplementation of minerals or vitamins etc. It all depends upon the results of the ART test with each individual client. ART is Accurate A great degree of accuracy is possible with ART. It will even uncover deficiencies at a sub-clinical level; that is when the problem is so tiny that the person may not be aware of it, and many modern methods of testing could not detect it. Now with ART, the educated guess is no longer necessary. ART is the finest natural method of guiding the health practitioner to the root of the problem. Many of the practitioners using Autonomic Response Testing are Naturopathic physicians, Medical Doctors, Doctors of Orthopedics, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, and Dentists. ART is not taught in any of the medical schools but through a series of courses from the American Academy of Neural Therapy or the American Academy of Neural Kinesiology. 20 ART is Good for What? Until ART, the methods of determining the body's structural, physical and nutritional needs were costly and time consuming. The only method of determining a nutritional need was by a person's symptoms, expensive lab work, and the doctor's knowledge of biochemistry, physiology and nutrition. An educated guess was made. Now at the ISHSKO Centre we use this easy and accurate method of quickly assessing the causative factors of your health problems. So no matter what you might believe ails you, or simply just to maintain your state of well-being, ART is a very useful ‘tool’ to employ. Why does the ISHSKO Centre use ART therapy in conjunction with their Amalgam removal program? The ISHSKO Centre employs the use of ART within its practice of safe amalgam removal to protect the health of the patient. Art is used to establish if the bodys own Autonomic response system is functioning and if the elimination organs are working adequately for the safe removal and excretion of heavy metals from the body. If the body is in a state of blocked regulation or if the body’s elimination organs (e.g. Gastrointestinal tract, colon, kidneys, liver, lungs, bladder) are under stress or not eliminating to the best of their ability, they are unable to clean, fix, detoxify and balance the body. If inadequate elimination is present then toxins may be recycled and stored within the body. Removal of amalgam fillings under these conditions of dys-regulation can create a detoxifying cascade, which will greatly add to the already heavy burden and strain on the body and organs. ART can identify whether there are physical, bio chemical, emotional or mental aspects that impair the ability to detoxify. Although it may seem unusual to have these areas addressed in a dental clinic, the integrated approach we provide at the ISHSKO Centre gives an opportunity to maximise the outcome of the treatment. Given this, it is difficult for anyone to accurately diagnose heavy metal toxicity. However, a collection or a complex of the symptoms below may point toward chronic metal toxicity and/or sensitivity/hypersensitivity. Please rate the occurrence of the below described symptoms to find your total score and the level of imbalance. 0= Never 2= Occasionally 3= Frequently 4= infrequently with severe symptoms 5= almost always Psychological: __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ Irritability and unreasonable anger Nervousness Restlessness Exaggerated response to stimulation Loss of recent memory Brain Fog Insomnia Fits of anger, with violent irrational behaviour Shyness of timidity, easily embarrassed Despondency Suicidal tendencies __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ Anxiety Difficulty in breathing Depression Emotional instability Lack of self control Inability to make decisions Inability to concentrate Loss of self-confidence Attention deficit (ADD) Drowsiness Manic depression TOTAL SCORE = 22 Neurological: __Headaches, often migraine type __ Tremors (hands, feet, eyelids ) __ Numbness and tingling of hands, feet, lips __ Muscular weakness __ Diffuse myalgia (muscle pain) __ Twitching of eyelids, trigger fingers __ In-coordination, clumsiness __ Multiple Sclerosis __ Dizziness __ Speech and visual impairment __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ Tinnitus(ringing in the ears) Hearing difficulties Paraesthesia (tingling/numbness) O Impaired visual field Restricted, dim vision Glaucoma Diminished visual acuity Parkinson’s disease Acute or chronic vertigo TOTAL SCORE = Skin: __ Itchiness __ Psoriasis __ Red blotches on palms and soles of feet __ Dermatitis __ Eczema __ Itchy or tender scars TOTAL SCORE = Immunological: __ Repeated infections (viral, bacterial, fungal, mycobacterial, yeast infestation) __ Allergies __ Sinusitis __ Rhinitis __ White cell abnormalities __ Cancer __ Chronic Fatigue __ Arthritis __ Lupus Erythematosis __ Multiple Sclerosis __ Scleroderma __ Hypothyroidism TOTAL SCORE = Hormonal: __ Chronic Fatigue __ Cold and clammy hands, feet __Excessive perspiration __ Low body temperature TOTAL SCORE = Digestive tract: __ Food sensitivities (milk and eggs) __ Abdominal cramps __ Crohn’s Disease __ Chronic constipation __ Candida __ Diahorroea __ Parasites __ Bloating, wind __ Loss of appetite with or without weight loss __ Cardio vascular __ Irregular heart beat __ Heart racing __ Abnormal blood pressure (high, low) __ Tightness in chest __ Unexplained elevated cholesterol and serum triglyceride TOTAL SCORE: Urinal genital: __ Increased frequency of urination __ Loss of Libido __ Increased bladder infections __ Chronic kidney disease __ Adrenal disease TOTAL SCORE = __ __ __ __ Nocturia (urination during the night) Prostate problems Cystitis Kidney infections 23 Head, neck and oral cavity disorders: __ Gum disease __ Metallic taste __ Mouth ulcers __ Burning sensation __ Loose teeth __ __ __ __ __ Halitosis (bad breath) Excessive salivation Scalloped edges of tongue Amalgam tattoo Jaw dysfunction TOTAL SCORE = Systemic Effects: __ Chronic headaches __ Thyroid disturbance __ Allergies __ Unexplained anemia TOTAL SCORE = Total score for whole questionnaire: Scores Scores Scores Scores in in in in the the the the range range range range of 1-30 may indicate a mild imbalance. of 31-60 may indicate a moderate imbalance of 61-100 may indicate a severe imbalance. above 100 may indicate a critical imbalance. 24
