The Leeds Pride Parade continues
to grow into a major landmark
celebration for the city and
Sunday 3rd August, was truly a

My top tips for Leeds City Centre
due diligence before purchasing:
due diligence is crucial but
don’t just rely on zoopla!
When investing, the best bit
of advice i can give is to do
your due diligence before
committing to a purchase.
In the years leading to the
property market crash in 2008,
many investors were guilty of
buying properties they had never
seen before, not to mention they
had never even been to the city
they were buying in. Ultimately,
these were the investors caught
with their pants down when the
housing market crashed and
prices fell.
I’m sure many estate agents
and property investment agents
across the UK will agree with me
when I say that due diligence is a
crucial step to take in committing
to a property purchase, but
investors must know where and
how to do their research. Far
too often I hear the words “but
zoopla says”. zoopla is good
for many things- house hunting
or obtaining sold price data for
instance- however, zoopla cannot
possibly give an accurate market
valuation of a property. Valuing
property is a human job and one
for professionals with market
experience and knowledge, not
a piece of software. you cannot
beat the advice of an experienced
agent who knows their market.

in Leeds city centre & ask their
opinion. Most of the credible
agents in the city will more
than likely know the common
apartment layouts & values, this
should give you an honest opinion
of the asking price value. Do the
same for the lettings market too,
speak to letting agents & gain
intelligence on both levels of rent
& desirability of specific apartment
types & layouts.
2. On most property portals there
will be a tick box on the search
filters for “let agreed” & “sold
subject to contract”: Use them.
Ticking Sold subject to contract
will give you both a ball park figure
of the asking price & sold prices
for comparable sales properties.
Let agreed will give you an idea
of what similar properties have
let for as well as asking prices for
comparable apartments.
3. house price data: have a look
online at sold house price data,
Rightmove has a fairly easy-touse function on their website
& this enables you to look at
properties sold in the location or
exact postcode. Although this is
usually 2-3 months behind, it gives
you some idea of pricing & what
direction it is taking.
4. visit the areas & buildings you
like the look of & consider three
very important factors:
Are there any large employers
or universities within a 10 minute
walk? Where is the nearest train
or bus station? How long to walk
to the nearest gym, convenience
store & bars/restaurants? Put
yourself in your potential tenants
shoes - does the area or building
you like still seem attractive now?
5. What’s the story in the local
area? Leeds city centre, although
easy to get around, has many little
districts or neighbourhoods each
with their own story. Ask around,
look at the planning website and
read stories in the local press. If
a block looks edgy or the area
around looks quiet but a new gym,
transport link or large office or
retail development is about to be
built then this might be a good
development to look at with a
longer term view. I am sure those
with properties close to the new
John Lewis development (Victoria
Gate) are now excited for it’s
completion and effect on the local
area and property values.

when it comes to looking for

location are priorities in their
property search. Just over
80% of respondents also said
utility costs are an important
consideration and 44% said a
balcony is a crucial feature.
The research also revealed
that 48% of city apartments
are car free and only 10%
of apartments require
parking for two or more
cars. In addition almost
80% of people said having
an immediate broadband
connection is imperative, 65%
want good sound insulation
and 56% of people revealed
they would pay a premium to
live in a building with an onsite gym.
Plus, contrary to popular
belief, more than two thirds
of respondents don’t think
it is important to have an
open plan living and kitchen
area and less than a fifth
are concerned about being
part of a community within a
development.
Also, for any developers
‘building to rent’ 76% of
tenants want furnished
properties and 43% of tenants
said it is essential to rent
from a reputable landlord.
Two thirds of tenants also
wanted the option of a longer

than a standard six-month

Ben PALMeR
Another of Leeds’ Own is Ben Palmer, barman for one of Leeds
favourite bars and hangouts - Distrikt. I got to bend the ear of Ben
over a few glasses of wine as he tells us about his interests and
musical abilities.
We all walk into bars on a
regular basis and are met by
the same faces who serve
us our drinks day in day out.
Have you ever wondered
what’s the story behind your
favourite bar tender? Well
for this months ‘Leeds Own’
I caught up with Distrikt
barman and true Yorkshire
gent Ben Palmer (who has
been serving me my large
white wine since it’s doors
opened) to get a very modest
insight into the man behind
the bar.
Q. Where did you grow up?
A. I grew up in Beeston and have
lived there all my life, I went to
Matthew Murray school which is
shut down now and was classed
as on of the worst schools in the
country. I bunked off school a lot
and just hung out with my mates.
The only thing got me to attend
school was taking drum lessons
which I started in year 7.
Q. What were your aspirations
at school?
A. My passion for music grew
once I’d started the drums and it
was then I knew wanted to work in
music, considering I didn’t spend
much time in school I did well in
my GCSE’s and went on to study
music at Leeds College of Music.
At college me and my mates set
up a Hardcore band called D-Rail
in which I played the drums, we
got spotted by Jamie Farrell
who signed us to his label TDON
Records when I was 16, we toured
all over the world for 12 years so I
pretty much grew up on the road.
As you can imagine it was mental,
we had the best times, but at that
age there were some life lessons to
be learnt and it’s fair to say I learnt
the hard way! Being on tour was an
amazing experience but it’s not as
glamorous as it’s made out to be,
obviously there were some perks
but it was very hard work.
Q. Where were your favourite
places to perform on tour?
A. I have to say Copenhagen,
Germany and Holland were my
favourites, we fitted well in their
music scenes and the nightlife was
pretty off the wall.
Q. How did you get into bar
work?
A. I started being a barman in
between tours, it was a job I could
be flexible with and is enjoyable,
I’ve worked in quite a few bars in
Leeds, just as we’d finished our final
tour Distrikt bar was due to open
and were advertising, I applied and
got the job and am one of the few
remaining original team.
Q. What do you think is
appealing about Distrikt as a
bar?
A. As I have been here from the
beginning I have seen Distrikt grow
and adapt over the years. Distrikt is
unique, there’s not another bar like
it in Leeds, it’s ultimately a house
bar with amazing club nights, we
get top DJ’s who would usually only
play clubs and which have people
queuing up down the street for free
of charge entry. Our drinks are to
the highest of standard, we make
great cocktails and have decent
drinks offers too. Another thing that
may not have been expected of a
bar like Distrikt is the food, we serve
a range of unique tapas dishes and
Sunday roast which other bars
can’t compare to, we have a good
reputation for our food. Another
thing I’d like to think people come
back to Distrikt for is the staff, we’re
all friendly and take time to get to
know our customers, I enjoy having
a chat and a laugh with people, it’s
one of the perks of being a barman.
Q. Where do you see Distrikt
heading in the future?
A. I think Distrikt will continue to
keep doing what it’s doing, being
unique and keeping its reputation
for decent music and club nights.
Ideally it’d be good to expand
to another venue in the city and
beyond Leeds. We take part in Mint
Festival so working the festival
scene more could be another
option.
Q. Apart from working at
Distrikt do you have any other
interests/sidelines?
A. I’m also a Drum Technician
where I set up drum kits for other
players, observe them playing and
make adjustments where needs be.
I am still very much in touch with
playing, I am in a couple of bands
where we’re still writing, recording
and playing just not on the scale
that we used to, my current band
The Bitter North play around Leeds
in venues such as Santiago Bar and
The Cockpit. I will always have that
connection to bands but have done
the whole on the road thing now,
my focus is keeping it as a sideline
and taking the time to appreciate
other things in life such as my wife
and mates.
Q. What are your plans for the
future?
A. In the future I’d like to continue
with Distrikt, there’s something
special about being one of the
original staff members that will
always keep me drawn to this place,
whether that’s helping with a future
expansion I don’t know. I’d also like
to have my own bar one day, I’d
keep it in Leeds and make sure it
was also a music venue. Obviously
music will always play a part in my
life so to continue with my bands
and to keep drumming.
Q. What do you think Leeds
has to offer as a city?
A. For me there is no contest when
it comes to cities, Leeds will always
be on top in my eyes. The bars,
restaurants, shops can compete
with other cities but what Leeds
has is that true Yorkshire spirit, it’s
friendly, welcoming and down to
earth, there’s no pretence in Leeds,
and although our football team may
not be the greatest at the moment
we continue to support them
which shows our commitment! I’ve
travelled all over the world and I’m
always pulled back to Leeds, it’s my
home town, where my friends and
family are, my roots, I’M AS LEEDS
AS YOU CAN GET!
Q. And finally where do you
like to drink/eat in Leeds when
you’re not behind the bar at
Distrikt?
A. My favourite restaurant is Ceilo
Blanco in Trinity, it’s run by some of
Leeds’ original bar men who really
know their stuff when it comes to
food and drinks, the cocktails there
are great. Bar wise I tend to hang
at Mojo’s and Neon, the regular bar
tender hang outs.

me. Well Bundobust with their
all vegetarian menu including
vegan and gluten free options,
showed me just how wrong I
was. We decided to go on a
Tuesday thinking it would be a
quieter day (I try to be kind),
wrong again! The restaurant
was full of people and had a
great atmosphere. It’s a very
casual affair, you just find the
nearest free table and sit down;
a refreshing change to the
normal formalities.
So first things first, drinks;
off to the bar to scope out
their selection. One of the
attractions of this restaurant is
to compliment the food. My
eyes lit up when I saw they
had a verde wine, it has been a
favourite of mine since I tried
it and it’s rare that you come
across it in England. While
Cristiano settled on a pale ale,
my eyes were drawn to a pump
like device on the bar. The
owner advised me it was used
to infuse flavours into their beer,
anything from fruits to herbs
and spices could be used; I had
to try this. He gave us a taste of
the lemon infused larger, I am
not a big beer drinker but even I
could appreciate this.
We then chose our table in
the covered outdoor area as
it was a nice day. I found out
afterwards this is actually a
smoking area. This is a bonus
for the smokers out there, no
standing in the rain! Fear not
non smokers, there is a smoke
free indoor area but honestly…
I didn’t realise, I couldn’t smell
smoke at all.
Now for food, it’s a relatively
small menu with 12 dishes to
choose from. Naturally we
wanted to try them all but we
settled for seven, a mixture of
the smaller snack dishes one of
which being ‘popcorn and pops’
to the more substantial curries.
During our very short wait for
the food, I thought I would
quiz one of the two owners to
find out a bit more about how
the concept came together.
Mark had been running a
specialist craft beer pub called
the Sparrow in Bradford and
Mayur, Prashad restaurant (you
may remember it from Gordon
came out in cardboard pots
and each pot was a complete
meal in itself; no need for sides
(didn’t stop us ordering the
okra fries though). We tried
‘Bundo Chaat’, the only way
to describe it is like an open
samosa with your sauces
included, it was heavenly. The
crunch of the pastry combined
with the chickpeas and potato
filling topped off with chutney
and yoghurt dressing, the
ingredients complimented each
other beautifully. One of my
favourites was Massala Dosa,
it’s a rice crepe with a lentil
soup, potato, onion dry fry and
coconut chutney. It’s difficult
to explain because it’s not like
anything I have ever had but
believe me when I say it’s to
die for, I couldn’t get enough of
it. I won’t go into all the dishes
but I do have to mention the
Bhajis; these vegan, gluten free
goodies were delicious. I had
to move quickly because once
my dining partner had tasted, I
barely got a look in.
So back to the drinks, after
thoroughly enjoying his ale,
Cristiano decided to give the
refreshing another triumphant
combo.
We both loved the food, drinks
and the ambience and will
definitely be going again. It
has even inspired me to get
creative with vegan indian food
in the kitchen. The dishes are
reasonably priced, between
£2.50 and £6 so you can eat
as much or as little as you
want and as they change the
menu through the season
you can look forward to new
inspired delights. I can say with
confidence, you will be missing
out if you don’t give this place
a try.

annoyance doing the rounds
is the IQ test – is it just me, or
does everyone seem to get a
score of 130 and told they are
‘very intelligent’? How come
not one person has had an
outcome which goes along
the lines of ‘Congratulations,
you’re insanely thick and only
scored 2! you’re not a baked
potato are you?.’ I scored 130,
in case you’re interested.

Having taken the Leeds baked goods industry by storm with
Get Baked, then turning the takeaway burger market on its head
with Mr Nice, the natural progression was to open a restaurant.
Enter The Joint, which will be sparking-up into action on Friday
26 September. Located in the old church where Halo/Quilted
Llama used to reside, it’s set to become a Leeds legend. I was
lucky enough to score a much sought after Golden Ticket to the
opening, so watch this space for a forthcoming review. It’s going to
be smoking, I can just tell.
LAB (LeedS AReNA BAR)
The redevelopment of the top end of town has been on the cards
ever since the First Direct Arena was announced, and if LAB is
anything to go by, our little-big city is about to get a whole lot
better. The bar is split across two floors, and specialises in cocktails
and craft beers, as well as a small but perfectly formed menu
featuring bourbon chicken thighs, baby back ribs, and other such
delights – definitely one to watch.
SOuL BOyS SPANdAu BALLeT
HiT THe BiG SCReeN
If all the 90s nostalgia is beginning to bore you, then why not step
back a decade further and relive by the far best of all decades,
with Spandau Ballet?! yes, they are recording new material, but
they are also releasing an in-depth documentary charting their
entire career. Featuring the bands 1980s hey-day, friendships,
fallouts and break-up, this film has been a huge hit with critics. See
it at your local cinema from 30 September – it’s sure to be pure
‘Gold’ (couldn’t resist, sorry).
I’m thrilled to be organising
the Leeds Bars & Clubs
Fresher’s Fair again, and
I think it’s my sixth year
of being part of the team.
This year we’re hosting the
Fresher’s at Lloyd’s No’1
Hedley Verity which is on
Woodhouse Lane, and they
are gearing themselves up for
our big event on Friday 26th
September between 1pm and
6pm.
With around 40 of Leeds
bars, clubs, promoters,
hoteliers and casinos it’s
an event that the Fresher’s
should really enjoy. I can’t
believe how much free stuff
is given away to get the first
year’s attention it’s literally a
world of freebies! And, it’s a
free event, so even more fun
knowing that.
Clubs Fresher’s Fair, but for
the experience of living in
such a great, fashion forward,
music-driven, cultural
destination such as Leeds.
And don’t get me started on
the outstanding selection of
restaurants and bars; the new
students are going to love the
diverse selection of eateries
and watering holes in and out
of town.
I can’t begin to imagine
how excited, nervous and
apprehensive the Fresher’s
must feel when arriving in a
new city that they’ll begin to
call home, but I do know one
thing that at least in Leeds
they’re going to be assured
of a truly amazing 4 years of
student life! Fact.

been heavily into sports from a
young age.
I played football at a high level,
both Leeds United and Barnsley
academies. Unfortunately a
reoccurring injury stopped me
from pursuing my football career.
I then went to college and did a
sports science course and got my
level 3 qualifications to become

1 - eat smaller more frequent
meals: To be a lean mean
superhuman machine, you

food than your body needs it will

Completely changing the
subject, I am a Coeliac,
(gluten free) and am so
excited about the new
restaurant that has opened
up at 2, Oxford Place, right
by Leeds Town Hall. It’s
100% GF with no risk of
cross contamination from
other foods as Victoria
Hall, the proprietor, only
provides GF food and can
be seen each morning
making home-made
bread for the 50 seater
restaurant. There are only
5 in the country and this
is a first for Leeds. (Leeds
does it again)!

who has a wheat allergy and
the other one who is GF, it’s
very difficult, especially for
an athlete whose everyday

joining a recent hen do
that i realised paris has
many other intriguing
sides, meaning it can
double as the ideal
destination for more
discerning stag and hen
parties.
But there’s far more to Paris
than the tourist haunts
of the Eiffel Tower, Notre
Dame and Le Louvre, and
the adventurous among you
will find plenty of bohemian
backstreets to explore. The
Popincourt area, for example,
is packed with an eclectic
range of lively bars, whilst
the streets of the bizarrely
named Gobelins are home to a
large Chinese and Vietnamese
population, making it the ideal
place to refuel after a hard
night’s partying.
The Pigalle is a notorious
district, which still wears its
raunchy reputation with pride
and is where the legendary
Moulin Rouge cabaret sits
cheekily alongside other
topless shows and sex shops.
It also boasts a vast array of
stylish bistros and bars, where
the arty and hip of Paris tend
to congregate.
Firstly, there’s the ease in
which you can hop across
the channel on a flight from
Leeds-Bradford. Many airlines
offer group bookings, which
allow you to name a lead
passenger then add others
as they confirm. In just 90
minutes you’ll land at Charles
de Gaulle Airport and soon
after you and your friends can
be sipping champagne on the
Champs Elysee, known to the
French as la plus belle avenue
du monde (the most beautiful
avenue in the world).

budget. And if Paris doesn’t

plenty of fun destinations

ages, you’ve got an array of
white knuckle rides including
the world-record breaking
Mumbo Jumbo drop coaster
which inverts as you plummet,
the dizzying 151 foot high sky
flyer that is Pterodactyl that
soars through the clouds and
the pulsatingly fast Kumali
which suspends riders from
the track and hits speeds of
up to 56mph.
Another must-ride is Hero,
a new addition last year and
gives brave souls riding the
coaster a feeling of free flight
as you take it on effectively
horizontally!
Among the many zones, one
of our favourites was DinoStone Park, home to several
rides and some animatronic
dinos too – selfie with a raptor
anyone?
After whitening your knuckles,
grab the camera and head
for the animals. The tigers are
a must-see in their massive
bespoke habitat and watching
the three new tiger cubs play
with their mum was a real
highlight. Seeing such little
cubs in a zoo is a rare and
humbling sight.
Make time to see the lions,
giraffes and the rhinos – and
if you fancy something more
exciting hop aboard
the Lost River Ride for a
riverboat safari which gives
you some roar-some views of
the animals.
If you want to ride
everything, it’s worth
grabbing a Q Buster when
you get there too to sail
straight to the front of the
queue.

that Yorkshire’s own Flamingo
Land ticks all our boxes.

of the year so far, taking £12m and
counting. Not bad for four guys in
their 30s (or near 30s) pretending
to be teenagers.
We had them on the show and
they told us they weren’t sure if
they were going to do a second
movie because of the huge
success of the first film, and they
knew it was going to be a tough
act to follow. Maybe they were
persuaded by the fact it was set
in Australia? Hmmm… They told
us that this is going to be the last
Inbetweeners movie though, yeah
right, until a script comes along
with the Inbetweeners visiting the
Caribbean perhaps?

The ‘Pharaoh: King of Egypt’
exhibition set a precedent in
2012 as Leeds City Museum’s
most successful show to date
and this Autumn sees Leeds
City Museum maintain the
momentum by announcing that
the Romans are coming from
20 September to 4 January
2015.
Roman Empire: Power & People
is a once in a lifetime chance
to see this exceptional touring
exhibition, which includes some
of the greatest treasures from
the British Museum’s collections
of Roman, Romano-British and
Romano-Egyptian artefacts.
Leeds City Museum’s exhibition
provides a rare opportunity
for visitors to see the British
Museum’s objects in Leeds for
the first time combined with
items from Yorkshire’s own
prized collections which will
give the exhibition a unique
local context.
The team at Leeds City
Museum has carefully selected
rarely seen Roman items from
their collections and secured
items from locally renowned
museums, to show alongside
these extraordinary pieces
provided by The British Museum.
The exhibition provides an
astonishing showcase of the
Romans in Yorkshire, Britain and
across the Empire as far afield to
the Eastern Mediterranean.
Complementing the exhibition
is an extensive schedule
of activities and events to
appeal to its broad range of
visitors. Tots and teens, school
groups, students and families,
academics and specialists, will
gain a well-rounded view of the
Romans and their influence. A
series of lectures accompanies
the exhibition, on subjects such
as Roman finds in Yorkshire,
crime and punishment in
Roman Britain, hoards of
Roman coins, Roman York and
new archaeological evidence
courtesy of the development of
University of York’s new campus.
Peppered liberally throughout
the exhibition are audio visuals,
interactives and family trails
which help bring alive the
ideas behind the exhibition
and enhance the themes of the
power and influence of Rome
and the people of the Empire.
Roman Empire: Power &
People opens to the public on
20 September until 4 January
2015. Leeds City Museum is on
Millennium Square, Leeds, LS2
8BH, and is open every day,
except Mondays, (open Bank
Holidays) from 10am to 5pm
and until 7pm on Thursdays.
Weekends 11am to 5pm.
The exhibition explores the
wealth, power and organisation
of the Empire, but also how the
Romans viewed their provinces
and other peoples. Religious,
military and personal objects
give an insight into the lives
of people across the Empire,
from northern Britain to Egypt
and the Middle East. These
fascinating objects show how
the influences of the many
people and places that the
Romans came into contact with
were absorbed and adapted into
the Empire.

Unique tapestries woven throughout historic Leeds house till 7th December 2014
Temple Newsam House in
Leeds, one of the great
historic houses of England
and known for its outstanding
collections, is due to be host
to an extraordinary exhibition
of tapestries by Turner Prize
winning artist Grayson Perry.
Entitled ‘The Vanity of Small
Differences’, this series of six
tapestries will be on display
from 23 August to 7 December
2014 providing the final
location on the exhibition’s
UK tour, supported by the Art
Fund and Sfumato Foundation.
Renowned for its collections of
fine and decorative arts as well
as textiles, Temple Newsam
House provides the perfect
backdrop for this exhibition
and the only venue on its UK
tour to host the exhibition
within an historic setting.
Temple Newsam House is the
final location in the UK which
included some of the country’s
key art locations.
The House is a physical
representation of 500 years
of taste and fashion revealed
in the changes to the building,
its interiors and the collections
within it. Owners of this
once home, over time have
reflected their individuality
and their class by surrounding
themselves by what they were
given, collected or bought.
Entrance to the exhibition is
free with normal admission
to the House. A special
service on the Number 10 bus
will be running from Leeds
City Centre direct to Temple
Newsam House during the
exhibition.

RECON FESTIVAL: Innovative Music Festival in Leeds and Bradford. 18th - 29th September
We are delighted to reveal Recon Festival for 2014. Building on the success of the inaugural event in 2013 and that incredible 36 drummer
installation outside Leeds Town Hall. Recon put simply is a selection of events taking part in Leeds and Bradford from 18th to 29th September,

TWIN ATLANTIC: Met Uni 30th October
Twin Atlantic are an alternative rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. They formed in
February 2007. All members previously played in other small local bands. During 2007 they
built up a strong reputation both locally and nationally.
The band had an amazing weekend at Reading & Leeds alongside the summer which seen
them perform at Glastonbury, Radio 1 Big Weekend, T In The Park and not to mention the
past few months that has seen both new singles rule the airwaves on the Radio 1 A-list and
the band enjoy making new friends at Radio 2 and at radio stations all over the UK (and
abroad).
Twin Atlantic
With their biggest headline tour to date approaching in October they are coming to Leeds
Met Uni on the 30th of October.

Kaiser Chiefs have confirmed a
new single “My Life”, which will
impact on Sept 22nd.
“My Life” is the third single lifted
from the band’s No.1 album
“Education, Education, Education
& War”, released earlier this year
via Fiction Records / Caroline
International. The single version
of “My Life” is mixed by Billy
Bush, known for his work with
Foster The People & Muse
amongst others.
Following a run of big summer
festivals, the band have today
confirmed a UK headline tour for
January & February 2015, with
nine new shows added to the
previously announced London
02 Arena and Leeds First Direct
Arena dates.
The Kaiser Chiefs are an English
indie rock band from Leeds
who formed in 2000 as Parva,
releasing one studio album, 22,
in 2003, before renaming and
establishing themselves in their
current name that same year.
Since their formation the
band consists of lead vocalist
Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew
“Whitey” White, bassist Simon
Rix, keyboardist Nick “Peanut”
Baines and since 2013 drummer
Vijay Mistry, who replaced
founding drummer Nick
Hodgson who left the band in
late 2012.
Primarily inspired by new wave
and punk rock music of the late
1970s and 1980s, the band have
released five original studio
albums: Employment (2005),
Yours Truly, Angry Mob (2007),
Off with Their Heads (2008), The
Future Is Medieval (2011) and
Education, Education, Education
& War (2014), one EP Lap of
Honour (2005), one compilation
album Souvenir: The Singles
2004–2012 (2012) and numerous
singles, including the number
one hit song “Ruby”.
Their album Employment
enjoyed critical and commercial
success with over three million
copies sold. It has won the band
three Brit Awards, including the
award for Best British Group, a
NME award for Best Album, and
was shortlisted for the Mercury
Prize.
Their UK hit singles include
2004 and 2005 number 9 hit “I
Predict A Riot”, 2007 UK number
1 hit “Ruby”, which has sold
over 461,000 copies, from their
platinum album “Yours Truly,
Angry Mob” plus a further two
Top 20 singles in 2007 with “The
Angry Mob” and “Everything Is
Average Nowadays”. In 2008,
they had a UK number 5 hit
with the Post-Punk Revival track
“Never Miss a Beat”. In total the
band has sold over 1.1 million
singles combined up to their 5th
album. Their latest top 40 single,
“Coming Home” hit number 31
in 2014. Their album Education,
Education, Education & War hit
number 1 in the albums chart
also in 2014.

and videos I’ve seen, it looks

Our studios were besieged this
month when we had a visit from
one of the biggest boy bands
around…Union J. Once we got
them into the building and past
the fans, we chatted about
albums, tours, hair wax and then
set them a little Breakfast Show
challenge... ‘Tongue Twisting’.

seen there so far, I really want
to marry them both. Away
day at Oulton Hall... This place
is awesome; golf, spa and
afternoon tea. Who wouldn’t
want to eat cake, smelling all
nice, feeling relaxed, and looking
at the beautiful surroundings.
AND the restaurant Bundobust
near the train station… yum, go
and try it!
