Thanksgiving Greetings to All!
November brings many great opportunities for social gatherings and
sharing. This means transportation will be important to arrange. This
month, I am very pleased to announce the wonderful expansion of the
City of Malden, Senior Transportation Program!
Beginning in November 2014, the City of Malden will be partnering
with “Door to Door Transportation by SCM” to run the medical and
supermarket services of the Senior Transportation Program. To be
eligible for this program you must be a City of Malden Resident and you
must be 60 years of age or have mobility impairment. Senior residents
will now enjoy an expanded transportation program that will include
medical visits to: Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Everett,
Malden, Medford, Melrose, Revere, Saugus, Somerville, Stoneham,
Watertown, Winchester, Woburn and the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
Supermarket visits will now include visits to Market Basket in Revere

We will be hosting an informational session on Monday, November
17that 1:00 PM in the dining room at the Malden Senior Community
Center. Please bring your questions
Lastly, please remember to SAVE THE DATE for the 2014 Artisan
Faire. It’s quickly approaching! The Faire will take place at the Malden
Senior Community Center on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from
10:00 AM 4:00 PM. If you know any local artists who would like to set
up an appointment to discuss a crafted item, please contact Cathy
Granese at 781-662-0349 or Debbie Camarata at 781-397-7144. Also,
we are graciously accepting baked goods for our dessert table. Please
contact Virginia Doherty at 781-322-3299 for baked good donations.

If you no longer drive, you can still visit with friends,
dine out and shop where you like. Call 781-388-4819
to see if you qualify for TRIP. This free program gives
you money to reimburse friends, neighbors and certain
family members for taking you anywhere you want to
go.
HAVING TROUBLE AFFORDING THE RIDE?
Through a grant from the Federal Transit Administration, SCM Community Transportation is providing free
trips to RIDE-eligible consumers for whom the current
$3.00 fare is a hardship. Trips are for non-medical
purposes only. Contact Mystic Valley Elder Services’

residents in preparing their tax returns. Basic computer
skills and some experience in filing your own tax returns
are important, along with a willingness to make a
significant time commitment to this worthy effort.
