WELCOME
Welcome to 2015, and we’ve certainly pushed the boat out to entertain and inspire you this
Spring.
A feast of comedy is heading your way to distract you from the General Election. Alan Carr, Pam
Ayres, The Reduced Shakespeare Company and Andy Parsons will certainly brighten up your
evenings. Music is available from Sean Lakeman and Kathryn Roberts, the World Class Cory Brass
Band, Rhydian Roberts and in celebration of the Birthday of Billie Holiday, enjoy the jazz tones of
The Lady Sings the Blues. A packed programme of music, drama, children’s favourites and dance
all await you so come on out and enjoy a night at your local theatre – providing quality evenings
out at a bargain price. Don’t forget to support our wonderful Montgomeryshire Young Farmers
Festival in February – it’s Pantomime time – oh yes it is!
Our plans to enhance the building and the facilities move on apace. With the Feasibility Study
now concluded, we are entering into a development phase to secure our funding. Hafren has
been a success story by growing its income turnover and number of performances year on year.
Our Education and Outreach programme is taking place all over Montgomeryshire despite only
being two years old. We have undertaken public consultation into what you want and a very clear
message has come back – you want more. In order to house any more shows and workshops we
need to have more space and the addition of a studio, music recording and rehearsal spaces are
crucial to our development. Head over to thehafren.co.uk to take a look at our plans.
We’re also joining up with many more theatres in Wales to promote a new system for our
customers with disabilities. Hynt will be a national scheme, which provides a medically based
assessment of an individual’s needs. We hope that this scheme will be launched in April, so
please contact the Box Office if you feel that you will need to have access to wheelchair spaces
or any other facility.
Finally, thank you for all your support in 2014. Let’s make 2015 our best year yet. Remember the
most positive way to contribute is to just buy a ticket and enjoy a fabulous night out in return. Go
on, try something new – an evening of magic perhaps, a movie screening, bring the children to
enjoy an afternoon of entertainment… The list is endless.
All the very best for 2015, from all the Hafren team.

Twin daughters and a folk-rock whirlwind forced Kathryn Roberts (Vocals / Piano / Woodwind),
and Sean Lakeman (Guitar), to sideline their popular duo performances in the mid noughties.
Now the Dartmoor based couple have enjoyed a noteworthy return to the fray with their highly
acclaimed album, ‘Hidden People’, bringing their own mix of traditional, self-penned songs and
covers to the stage. With a story that includes music making with the likes of Seth Lakeman,
Cara Dillon, Levellers, Kate Rusby and Show of Hands, Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman have
established themselves as pillars of modern British folk.

AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE ADAPTATION OF SIWAN BY SAUNDERS LEWIS
Easter 1230 and an uneasy truce exists between a divided Wales and
England. At the court of the charismatic Prince of North Wales,
a catastrophe is about to unfold and dreams of a united Wales
will crumble…
The Royal Bed is Siôn Eirian’s masterful English language adaptation of the
Welsh classic, Siwan, by renowned Welsh playwright Saunders Lewis. Set in
medieval Wales, it is a heartbreaking tale of the disintegration of a marriage
played out against a backdrop of political intrigue.
With live music and BAFTA Cymru Best Actress winner Eiry Thomas as Siwan this world stage
premiere of The Royal Bed is an unmissable opportunity for an English language audience to
experience a powerful Welsh classic.
The Royal Bed yw addasiad Saesneg meistrolgar Siôn Eirian o'r clasur Cymraeg Siwan

PAM AYRES
Pam Ayres’ work is funny, and approachable. It sounds simple, as though dashed off, but this is
deceptive. Her hair-trigger timing, her eye for the detail of everyday life, and for the absurdity therein,
makes for an art that hides art. Her books have been bestsellers for 40 years, and Pam is still a regular
on Radio and TV, on programmes such as Just A Minute, Loose Ends, Ayres On The Air for Radio 4, The
Paul O’Grady Show, The Alan Titchmarsh Show and The One Show.
Mae gwaith Pam Ayres yn swnio’n syml ond mae hyn ymhell o’r gwir. Mae ei hamseru ffraeth, ei
manylion di-flewyn ar dafod yn arlwy i’r glust.

BOUNCERS
Bouncers written by award-winning playwright John Godber is a high impact stylised view of today’s
urban nightlife. A sharp, edgy look at what goes on late at night in every town, when the pubs are shut
and the beer’s been downed.
It is a comedy with a bleak streak that raises a mirror to the realities and fantasies of nightclub lifestyles.
Chosen by the National Theatre as one of the finest plays of the 20th century the play raises questions
about violence, relationships, despair, sexuality, sexual dynamics and roles, alcohol, power and
friendships.
The bouncers Les, Judd, Ralph and lucky Eric prepare for an evening of carnage with lads on the lash,
and girls decked out for a night on the town. A talented cast featuring some of Wales’ finest comedy
actors take on over twenty characters in this fast paced, action packed riotous comedy.
Make sure you book your tickets early, as this is a night you don’t want to be refused entry to!

conducted previously to join his new chorus. He was able to match his skill in voice production and
choral management with the enthusiasm and commitment of some of North Wales’ finest male choral
singers and during his 15 years, had established a male chorus with a very special sound and quality.
Our current Musical Director, Aled Wyn Edwards, who lives in Llangefni, is also blessed with an
abundance of musical talent and is keen to nurture new exciting voices as well as promoting the
established singers.
In March 2012, Aled was appointed as the Musical Director of Cantorion, until that point he sang as a
chorister and was the choir’s deputy accompanist. He relished the opportunity to take the helm and
lead the choir into its third decade, maintaining the choir’s tradition whilst bringing his own influence
and experience to its performances.

The Harri-Parris are a West-Walian farming family. Hilarious and dysfunctional, they love nothing
more than having visitors round. And that’s you! Anni, the farm’s only daughter, is getting married
and so the Harri-Parris want to celebrate the big day with you. Well, not the actual big day, they’re not
made of money. How about the night before? The night they’re going
to meet Anni’s new English, vegetarian, indie musician fiancé for
the first time. What could possibly go wrong?! Dust off your posh
hats and join the Harri-Parris for a thoroughly entertaining
evening of songs, stories and cake. Lots of cake.

M6 Theatre’s imaginative new production for the very young is set in the charming world of a traditional
Alpine Weather House. This quaint ornament tells us what weather to expect today. When the little
woman comes out it’s going to be sunny! When the little man comes out it’s going to rain! The two
characters couldn’t be more different. But what happens when the winds of change blow? Blow so
hard that everything becomes topsy-turvy? What will our lovable pair learn in their new and unfamiliar
conditions? It might rain, it might get a bit windy, but the show must go on whatever the weather!

THE PICTURE OF
DORIAN GRAY
Fresh from a West End run of ‘The Trials of Oscar Wilde’,
European Arts Company returns with a thrilling
adaptation of Wilde’s only novel ’The Picture of
Dorian Gray’. Set in the decadent world of
Victorian London, a beautiful, narcissistic young
man called Dorian Gray becomes infatuated by the
exquisite portrait that Basil Hallward has painted
of him. He makes a Faustian pact that he will
remain forever young while the picture
grows old. Combining drawing room
comedy and Gothic horror, this is a
gripping and hugely entertaining
theatrical event.

FRINGE REVIEW
Pitschi doesn’t care for the rough and tumble and mischievous fun of kitten play, but instead dreams
of being something else – a chicken, perhaps, or a goat, or a rabbit… for after all, anything is better
than being a cat! This original production uses a rich mix of story-telling, physical theatre, music and
song to tell the story of a kitten that learns to be happy by being exactly what she is. Come and enjoy
this classic Swiss story that has delighted generations of children - and cat lovers - all around the world.

GRAHAM, CHRISTINE & ANNA HASLOCK
MID NOVEMBER 2014 - FEBRUARY 2015
GRAHAM HASLOCK
Graham Haslock was born in Llandudno in 1953 and trained at Derby College of Art, Liverpool College of Art (gaining a BA
Hons.1st class) before undertaking post-graduate study at the Slade School of Art (UCL HDFA). Graham went on to become
a teacher of Art in secondary schools for 30+ years.
CHRISTINE HASLOCK
Christine Haslock was born on Christmas Day 1953. Educated in Lancashire, Wiltshire and Wales, she studied Fine Art at
Liverpool, specialising in Ceramics, where she met Graham Haslock. She trained to be an Art teacher and finished her
teaching career working with Graham at Llandrindod High School. During her first year of early retirement Christine studied
Botanical Illustration under the inspirational teacher Moya Davern, following several more courses with her in order to study
watercolour painting. Christine’s work is inspired by plants, and she likes to combine them with everyday objects in still-life
groups that have some connection to the Golden Age Dutch still-life paintings that she admires.
ANNA HASLOCK
Anna Haslock was born in Hertfordshire in 1982 but quickly moved to mid Wales and was educated in Llandrindod Wells.
Foundation studies in Art and Design at Falmouth University were followed by a degree in Illustration at Camberwell
University in London. She began work on setting up her sustainable screen printing business ‘Annaprints’ in 2012. Her
interest in sustainability, her friends and family and her simple quiet lifestyle in the country have all gone into her designs.
TACT ART EXHIBITION
FEBRUARY - MAY 2015
We are pleased to be hosting an exhibition to showcase the artistic talent of young people in
Wales who are in the care of TACT foster carers. Providing children with high quality foster
care is at the heart of what we do. As a charity, we passionately believe that all children
deserve to live in friendly, safe and stable homes. At TACT we strive to make the entire
fostering process as straightforward as possible for those interested in becoming a foster
carer.
The exhibition is a sample of some of the best pieces of work that TACT Cymru art group has
created over the last few years. The exhibition is free to attend and there’ll be an opportunity
to buy some of the work. Proceeds from any sales will go directly to the young people
themselves.
In October 2011 a TACT staff member started up a small arts group in Mid Wales and invited
young people in care to join and express themselves through painting and drawing. The
group has proven to be very successful, uncovering some real talent and providing an outlet
for the young people’s creativity.
From 2012 the group has received funding and support from The Ashley Family Foundation.
Laura Ashley’s retired designer, Brian Jones, joined the group as a tutor and has been
instrumental in helping the young people produce work of real quality and originality.
During 2014 the art group exhibited twice at The Norwegian Arts Centre Cardiff Bay.

to be posted to you.
REFUNDS & EXCHANGES
Hafren appreciates customers’ commitment
to the theatre in booking early for events and
recognises that changes of plan can occur.
On these occasions, if the tickets are returned
to the Box Office we will attempt to re-sell
them to another customer. This cannot be
guaranteed as all of the theatre’s unsold tickets
will be sold first. If successful in re-selling the
tickets, the Box Office will issue a voucher to
you for use against any future booking.
Credit vouchers can only be issued to the
original purchaser of the ticket. It is regretted
that, in line with most other professional
theatres, cash refunds cannot be made on
tickets already purchased.

theatre bar has credit card payment facilities.

rooms available for ancillary use or smaller
functions. A full on-site professional technical
service ensures the optimum sound, lighting
and presentation of your event. With catering

hefyd archebu seddau ymlaen llaw a bydd y
rhain yn cael eu cadw am bum diwrnod gwaith.
Mae’n ddrwg gan Hafren na all y seddau gael
eu cadw os na fydd tâl wedi’i dderbyn o fewn
y cyfnod hwn. Bydd eich galwadau i archebu
dros y ffôn yn cael eu hailgyfeirio i beiriant
ateb yn ystod 30 munud cyn perfformiadau
er mwyn galluogi staff y Swyddfa Docynnau i
ddelio gydag ymwelwyr sy’n cyrraedd.
PRISIAU TOCYNNAU MANTAIS A
CHYFRADDAU ARBENNIG
Lle dangosir hynny, bydd tocynnau mantais ar
gael i blant, myfyrwyr, pobl dros 60, unigolion
sydd wedi’u cofrestru’n anabl (gan gynnwys
gofalwyr) a’r di-waith. Bydd Tocyn Teulu a
thocynnau Manteiswyr Cynnar yn dibynnu ar y
nifer o docynnau sydd ar gael, a rhaid talu am
y tocynnau erbyn y dyddiad penodedig. Mae’n
bosibl y bydd angen cyfyngu lleoedd. Ceidw
Hafren yr hawl i atal y cyfraddau mantais hyn ar
unrhyw adeg, heb rybudd. Bydd tocyn teulu’n
cynnwys, ar y mwyaf, bedwar unigolyn gydag o
leiaf ddau ohonynt yn blant.

Nodwch enw’r perfformiad, y nifer o docynnau
y carech eu harchebu (gan gynnwys unrhyw
docynnau mantais), eich enw, eich cyfeiriad
a’ch rhif ffôn yn ystod y dydd. Amgaewch
siec am y cyfanswm a’i gwneud yn daladwy
i ‘Hafren-NPTC Group’ gyda rhif eich cerdyn
sieciau ar y cefn. Ychwanegwch 60c at y

CYFRADDAU I GRWPIAU
Mae’r rhain ar gael i grwpiau o 10 neu fwy ar
gyfer y mwyafrif o berfformiadau. Bydd un
tocyn ar gael am ddim gyda phob 10 tocyn sy’n
cael eu harchebu. Gofynnwch yn y swyddfa
docynnau p’un a yw cyfraddau i grwpiau yn

25, ffoniwch Del Thomas, Rheolwr Marchnata,
ar 01686 614556 er mwyn trafod mwy o
ddisgownt.
AD-DALIADAU A CHYFNEWIDIADAU
Mae Hafren yn gwerthfawrogi ymrwymiad
cwsmeriaid i’r theatr trwy archebu’n gynnar
ar gyfer achlysuron ac yn cydnabod y gall
newidiadau ddigwydd o ran cynlluniau. Mewn
achos o’r fath, os bydd tocynnau’n cael eu
dychwelyd i’r swyddfa docynnau, gwnawn bob
ymdrech i’w hail-werthu i gwsmeriaid eraill. Ni
ellir sicrhau hyn gan y bydd tocynnau’r theatr
yn cael eu gwerthu’n gyntaf. Os bydd y theatr
yn llwyddo i ail-werthu’r tocynnau, bydd y
swyddfa docynnau’n trefnu credyd i chi am
werth y tocynnau, i chi ei ddefnyddio wrth
archebu unrhyw docynnau yn y dyfodol. Bydd
y trefniant hwn yn gymwys ar gyfer y prynwr
gwreiddiol y tocynnau. Yn anffodus, yn unol
â mwyafrif o theatrau proffesiynol eraill, nid
yw’n bosibl gwneud ad-daliadau ariannol am
docynnau sydd wedi’u prynu eisoes.
CYFLEUSTERAU I’R ANABL
Mae dau le parcio wedi’u neilltuo ger drysau
ffrynt y theatr ar gyfer y rhai sy’n berchen
ar Fathodynnau Glas. Dylai unigolion sy’n
defnyddio cadair olwyn ddefnyddio prif
fynedfa Coleg Powys er mwyn manteisio ar y
drysau awtomatig. Mae’r mynediad i’r Swyddfa
Docynnau, Bar yr Oriel, a’r Awditoriwm yn
wastad. Mae lle i 6 cadair olwyn ar gael o
flaen y prif seddau, a dylid trefnu lle ymlaen
llaw ar gyfer hyn. Mae arwydd llachar yn
dynodi’r toiledau, ac mae mynedfa i gadair
olwyn a thoiled pwrpasol ar gael. Mae yna
system cylchwifrau (loop system) i gwsmeriaid
sydd â nam ar y clyw a gall y rhai sydd am
ddefnyddio’r system honno droi pob teclyn
clyw i ‘T’. Gellir gofyn hefyd am glustffonau.
Gallwch wneud cais i dderbyn gwybodaeth am
achlysuron y theatr mewn print bras.
TOCYNNAU RHODD Y THEATR
Mae gan y theatr ei thocynnau rhodd sy’n
ddilys ar gyfer y mwyafrif o achlysuron. Mae’r
theatr hefyd yn rhan o Gynllun Tocynnau’r
Theatr Genedlaethol. Ffoniwch y Swyddfa
Docynnau am fanylion ar 01686 614555.
LLUNIAETH
Bydd bar y theatr ar agor awr cyn cychwyn pob
perfformiad, a hefyd yn ystod yr egwyl ac ar
ôl pob perfformiad. Er mwyn manteisio ar yr
egwyl, awgrymwn eich bod yn archebu eich
diodydd ymlaen llaw, gan y gall y bar fod yn
brysur dros ben yn ystod yr egwyl. Mae siop
goffi’r theatr a’r bwth hufen iâ hefyd ar agor yn
ystod perfformiadau’r hwyr.
LLOGI’R THEATR
Mae awditoriwm y theatr a chyfleusterau eraill
ar gael ar gyfer cynadleddau, cyfarfodydd
busnes ac achlysuron arbennig. Bydd lle i
500 yn y brif awditoriwm gyda chyfleusterau
llwyfannu cyflawn a goleuadau, a chyfres
o ystafelloedd llai at ddefnydd ategol neu
achlysuron llai. Bydd gwasanaeth technegol
proffesiynol ar gael ar y safle er mwyn sicrhau’r
gwasanaeth gorau posibl o ran sain, goleuadau
a chyflwyniad eich achlysur. Mae’r arlwyaeth
yn apelio at ofynion unrhyw un, ac mae’r theatr
yn cynnig amgylchedd trefnus a phroffesiynol,
hyblyg o ran lleoli niferoedd o 10 a mwy.
