NEFCU continues to utilize the latest technology to safeguard your account information. In late 2014, we launched our new VISA Credit Cards with an EMV chip for added security. The chip in the card is encrypted and provides stronger protection against fraud. In October 2015, we expanded our use of this technology by incorporating EMV chips into our debit card as well. Members began receiving the new chipenabled cards when their current card was up for renewal, or they opened a new account. By the end of June 2016, all eligible members will receive a new NEFCU Debit Card with EMV chip technology to make your purchases more secure. Below is important information for members who will be receiving their initial EMV card: WHAT YOU SHOULD DO NEXT WHAT’S CHANGING n n n Your 3-digit security code on the back of your card Your card’s expiration date At chip-enabled terminals and ATMs, card stays in the terminal until transaction is complete WHAT’S NOT CHANGING n n n n Your card number Your personal identification number (PIN) The accounts tied to your card The card still has the magnetic stripe so you can use it at traditional card readers n n n ACTIVATE your new card immediately Destroy your old card If you have any merchants who automatically bill your debit card, please send them your new card information when it arrives (your card expiration date and 3-digit security code) For additional details on the chip card, please check out the FAQs and EMV video available at: myNEFCU.org/emv-chip-card oocFLASH.qxp_NEFCU_NewsFlash_May16 4/20/16 4:09 PM Page 2 Spring Specials are Blooming Here at NEFCU!
