SUMMER 2013
Daytrip Information Sheet
In this package, you will find information on what to bring, pick up and drop off times, and other pertinent
information. Please be advised that some programs have additional waiver forms that must be
completed correctly and RETURNED TO US AT LEAST 4 DAYS PRIOR TO THE PROGRAM in order for your
child to participate.
***An exception to this rule is the “Calgary Zoofari” trip, for which the waivers must be handed in by
July 30th.
MEDICATION POLICY: Our staff will not administer medication to your child under any circumstances, unless a
MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION FORM is filled out completely and accurately, as well as signed by the
parent/guardian prior to participation in the program. Please inform staff of ALL MEDICATION your child will be
taking, include prescription and non-prescription medication. The medication needs to be in a Ziploc bag labeled
with the child’s name, the name of the medication and the time of administration. To ensure the best experience
possible for your child, please inform supervisors prior to participation in the program of any medical, physical,
mental, or emotional concerns/disabilities that your child may have. For children who require EpiPens, a waiver
must be completed prior to your child's participation on site. Participants must carry their own EpiPens in a fanny
pack while attending any Sturgeon County day trip or overnight camp.
MEDICAL EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: In the event of an emergency, parent(s)/guardian(s) should understand that
Sturgeon County staff may render first aid, and if necessary, request transportation by ambulance for your child.
While every reasonable effort will be made to contact you or your stated emergency contact, if you cannot be
reached, the physician selected by Sturgeon County staff may order hospitalization, injection, transfusion,
anesthesia, or surgery for your child. If this is not acceptable to you, please advise our registrar prior to the date of
the program and we will cancel your registration and refund your registration fee.
REFUND POLICY: No Refunds will be given after the "register by" date has passed, with the exception of a medical
or family emergency. A doctor’s note is required. If the refund request is made prior to the “register by” date for the
program, you may transfer your payment to another program if there is a spot available or a refund will be provided
subject to an administration fee of $15 per program. If your cancellation is due to a medical or family emergency, the
administration fee will be waived. Please allow 2-4 weeks for processing. Full refund will be given if the program is
cancelled.
Sturgeon County holds the right to send a child home from a day trip or day program at the expense of the
parents if the child’s behavior presents a safety risk to themselves and/or others.
1
N.S.F. CHEQUES: All bank charges on N.S.F. cheques will be the responsibility of the cheque writer.
WAIVERS:  Registrations will not be processed if the “liability personal information waiver” section of the
registration form is not signed. 
Some of the day trips require an additional waiver from the facility we are going to. This additional waiver form
must be signed in order to participate and can be completed at Sturgeon County upon registering or found online
at http://www.sturgeoncounty.ab.ca/ (follow “forms” under Quicklinks). It is your responsibility to ensure any
waivers required are returned to our office at least four days prior to the trip – with the exception of the “Calgary
Zoofari” Trip, for which the waiver must be handed in by July 30th. If we do not have it, your child will not be able to
participate and there will be no refund.
EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBERS: When you arrive at the pickup point, be sure to check with us to ensure that we
have the correct emergency phone numbers.
EVALUATIONS: We will be asking each participant to fill out an evaluation of the day trip attended. We will provide
an evaluation sheet at the end of each day trip that can be filled out while it is still fresh in your child(ren)’s mind.
You can mail or drop off the evaluation at the Sturgeon County Centre, fax it to us at 780-939-2893 or bring it to your
next day trip. Our evaluations are also available online at www.sturgeoncounty.ca for your convenience. Evaluations
can also be left in the afterhours drop off slot, located in the front of Sturgeon County Centre building. Please take
the time to fill out the evaluations as we appreciate any comments or suggestions you may have.

both parties must be given to a supervisor prior to the commencement of the day trip. **
HONORING OUR AGE RESTRICTIONS: Sturgeon County requests that all parents follow the guidelines in regards to
the assigned age groups. Due to previous difficulty caused by parents “sneaking” their child(ren) into a program that
they are not old enough for, we reserve the right to send home participants if they do not meet age requirements.
No refunds will be given should this happen. If you have registered a child in a program they are not old enough for,
we encourage you to change programs or request a refund prior to the start date.
PHOTOS: Throughout the summer pictures may be taken by staff, parents or media. On the registration form there is
an option to authorize or not authorize pictures to be taken. This section needs to be completed before a child can
participate in any Sturgeon County program

BUS & VAN RULES
 Seatbelts must be worn at all times if available. There is to be no walking in the vehicle while it is
on route to the destinations.
 Eating on the bus/van will be permitted with the exception of sunflower seeds. Garbage
removal is the responsibility of the passenger.
Inappropriate behavior or language will not be tolerated at any time
Failure to comply with these rules could result in loss of
transportation privileges to future Sturgeon County programs.
WRISTBANDS: To ensure the safety of your
child in public places we will be putting a
wristband on him/her, on which emergency
numbers will be printed. Your child will be
expected to wear this wristband at all times,
while at our programs. Please speak to your
child about the importance of keeping the
wristband on. Safety is our number one
concern!
CLOTHING AND SUPPLIES POLICY:
Recommended clothing and footwear must be
worn on each day trip. Those participants who
show up without the proper clothing, footwear
and equipment will not be allowed to
participate in those activities that require that
clothing. (For example: trips involving
horseback riding require closed toed and closed
heeled shoes/boots). If you do not have one of
the items listed, check with family and friends.
You can also give us a call prior to the trip as in
some cases we do have extra gear available.
SNACKS AND LUNCHES: Parents please DO NOT
pack snacks and/or lunches containing peanuts
and/or nuts, to ensure the safety of those with
severe allergies. Thank you for your
cooperation!!!
