Zaxby's of Erwin is owned by Michael and Nancy Jackson, and their son Michael Jackson, Jr. They opened the Erwin store in January 2009, they also own the Zaxby’s in Lillington and have a proposed third Zaxby’s to go in Anderson Creek (Highway 87). Zaxby's is a franchised chain of casual dining restaurants offering chicken wings, chicken fingers, sandwiches, and salads and more! Zaxbys offers many great meal specials thoughout the week such as 99¢ Nibbler Sandwich Day on Thursday’s. One of the core company beliefs of Zaxby’s is that of philanthropy. Because of that belief, franchises are encouraged to offer opportunities for charities to raise money through sponsored charity & event nights, which are held on Tuesday and Thursday nights locally. On May 17th, Zaxby's received the Philanthropic Partner of the Year Award from Make-A-Wish of Eastern North Carolina through its support during the past year, raising $103,978 during its fall Cause Card Campaign. The Jackson family were honored during the 2014 Wish Ball. Stop by the Erwin location at 701 E. Jackson Blvd and let General Manager Manuel Ignacio and his staff take care of your chicken needs. The Young Professionals of the Dunn Chamber hosted the second annual “Successful Business Leaders Forum” presented by Oscar N. Harris & Associates, P.A. on May 8 at The Regency. The event was paid for by sponsorships from Dunn Chamber member businesses. Russell Galvan, Vice President of Public & Governmental Affairs and Chairman of the group, served as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening introducing the panelists and asking questions on behalf of the committee. Panelists were Irvin Warren, CEO of Warren Oil Co., Kim Schmidlin, President of Carolina Therapy Services and Mack McLamb, President of Carlie C’s IGA. “These panelists were straight forward and spoke from the heart to the more than 50 in attendance,” according to Chamber Executive Vice President Tammy Williams. “Those in attendance made some great contacts and got some wonderful advice. I have received several positive, as well as, appreciative comments from those who were able to attend.” Questions ranged from the importance of networking to how they defined success. Mrs. Schmidlin noted that “defining success changes over time as we set different goals to accomplish throughout our life.” She and Mr. Warren both agreed that networking was important to growing their business. Both gave credit to their participation in the Dunn Chamber, which opened doors for them both professionally and personally through contacts made. When asked about challenges they all agreed every business faces tough times. Mr. McLamb said “there is going to be obstacles and fears no matter what the occupation but we can’t let that fear keep us from growing, we have to just step up, face it and move forward.” Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce Calendar of Events JUNE 2014 Business of the Week— Buddy’s Jewelry 5 Boogie on Broad Concert Series, presented by Dunn Area Tourism Authority, Featuring Too Much Sylvia, Broad St between Wilson Ave and Clinton Ave, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Business of the Week— Elegant Party Rentals & Catering 9 Governmental Update, Deborah’s Restaurant, 12:00 noon, RSVP Required, $10 per person 15 Happy Father’s Day!
