Safety Above All Else
As many of you may know, there was a recall announced in
November of 2.1 million dropside cribs produced by Stork Craft.
The cribs were produced between January 1993 and October 2009,
and those with the Fisher Price logo are also included in the recall.

It is important to know that other brands of dropside cribs are not affected by this
recall. Neither Stork Craft nor Fisher Price cribs were ever sold at Lazar's. If you have
one of these cribs, Lazar's is offering a $50 trade in for your recalled crib towards the
purchase of any crib we have in stock. We will then destroy the recalled crib so it is
taken out of circulation.
Changes
Many customers see the added value that cribs that convert to toddler and then full
beds have, while dropside cribs typically do not provide this function. As a
consequence, there have been fewer dropside cribs and more convertible cribs on
display in our store.
However, some folks prefer the look, if not the function, of a dropside crib. So, many
manufacturers are producing stationary side cribs that look like dropside cribs and have
the added function of converting to toddler beds. We have many of these cribs on
display as well. As always, the choice is yours and we're here to help guide you through
your decision.

A Chef's Best Tool
One of my favorite TV chef's has the habit of putting her hands up and wiggling her
fingers while saying "Clean hands . . . a chef's best tool" just before diving into a bowl
of something that is best mixed by hand, literally. While watching her show the other
day, it occurred to me that this could also apply to parenting. With all the wonderful
items out there designed to help us parents out, the best tools we can use, we already
own -- our hands. They are the one size fits all solution to carrying, soothing, bathing,
feeding and teaching our children. We'll always need lots of stuff for babies, like
diapers, cribs, car seats and the like, but sometimes it's nice to get back to basics and
employ the use of human touch.
