Biographies Kevin Barrett Trial attorney, SAIF Corporation Kevin Barrett graduated with a BS in biology in 2006 from Portland State University and with a JD from Willamette University in 2009. Kevin has worked at SAIF since 2008 as a legal intern, and as a trial attorney since 2009, specializing in workers’ compensation. Kevin has and working closely with the SAIF Corporation’s Own Motion team since 2010. He has been a member of the Oregon State Bar since 2009. Kevin is married with two children and enjoys skiing, golf, and playing with his kids. Bin Chen Workers Compensation Litigator, Reinisch Mackenzie At age 16, Bin made the bold decision to leave his home of Shanghai, China to study abroad here in the U.S. What was supposed to be a one-year cultural exchange program turned into a 14-year odyssey. During this time, Bin has been preoccupied with conquering many self-made challenges in both professional and academic spheres. After graduating from Corban University in Salem, Oregon in 2003, Bin was employed as a workers’ compensation and fast track casualty claims adjuster, and later as a regional business analyst for a large insurer in Portland. He worked for Reinisch Mackenzie in 2010 as a summer law clerk. Upon admission to the Oregon State Bar in 2011, Bin joined Reinisch as an Oregon workers’ compensation litigator. Jeff Gerner Trial Attorney, SAIF Jeff Gerner is a trial attorney on SAIF’s northern trial team. He has worked at SAIF since 1984, and has been a member of the Oregon State Bar since 1980, specializing in workers’ compensation since 1980. Prior to coming to SAIF, he worked in a private law firm, and has been a member of the Workers’ Compensation Board. Jeff graduated with a BA in political science and business from the College of Idaho in 1977, and with a JD from Willamette University in 1980. Allison Lesh Attorney, Moore Jensen & Lesh Allison spent her formative years on Kodiak Island in the Gulf of Alaska. She graduated from Gonzaga University in 2002 with a degree in Italian Studies. Allison attended the Northwestern Law School (Lewis & Clark) on full scholarship. After passing the Oregon State bar exam in September 2007, Allison worked as a temporary legal assistant for Crispin Employment Lawyers in Portland, in April 2008, Allison accepted an associate position with Moore Jensen & Lesh. She and her husband, Adam, completed their move to Eugene in June 2008 and have been living among rabid Ducks fans ever since. Allison is one of our leading Oregon Workers Compensation lawyers and Social Security Disability lawyers. Lourdes Sanchez Workers Compensation/Personal Injury Attorney Lourdes moved to Eugene, Oregon from Puerto Rico at age 12. Initially unable to speak English, she enrolled at Churchill High School where she graduated with Honors at the age of 16. In 1994, Lourdes graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics. In 1997, Lourdes obtained her J.D. from the University of Oregon law school. After law school, Lourdes worked for the honorable Gregory Foote, a (now retired) Lane County Circuit Court Judge. Subsequently, she became an associate at Rasmussen & Tyler and a partner in Kasubhai & Sánchez. Since 2001, Lourdes has been a solo practitioner specializing in workers’ compensation and personal injury. Bruce Smith ALJ, WCB Mediator Bruce Smith earned a BA in Political Science from the University of Oregon in 1968. He got his JD from Willamette University in 1972; and has been a member of the Oregon State Bar since then. Prior to his appointment as an ALJ in 2008 Bruce spent 23 years representing injured workers and their families. He has been a WCB mediator since 2008, and speaks Spanish and Italian. He is a member of the Access to Justice Committee, and served as its chair in 2009-2010.
