Also in implementing evidence-based approaches for chronic disease prevention in the health systems of different countries and evaluating their outcomes. He is a Regional Director for the Asia Pacific Academic Consortium (APACPH) and he has conducted training and capacity building programs in Finland, Malaysia, China, South Africa and USA. He was a Public Health Advisor for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and has recently co-edited a WHO Monograph, The Health Legacy of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Professor Ajay Mahal Alan and Elizabeth Finkel Chair in Global Health An eminent health economist who has worked in Asia, the Middle East and the United States has been appointed as the first Alan and Elizabeth Finkel Chair in Global Health at Monash University. Ajay Mahal is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Health at Harvard University. He has worked as a health economics advisor in Gaza and the West Bank, and as a consultant to the Indian Government. He is an expert on issues including the health financing, the social determinants of health, and the economics of HIV/AIDS. Associate Professor Bebe Loff Heads the The Michael Kirby Centre for Public Health and Human Rights The Kirby Centre comprises lawyers, ethicists, medical practitioners, scientists and others who undertake research that critically examines the contribution of human rights and law to the realisation of good health, particularly amongst vulnerable communities in the developing world Their research assists the development of public health policies and programmes which incorporate human rights standards.
