CALTRAPS and Associates Presents CTI Module 102 Basic Concealment Course July 14, 2015 July 15, 2015 9 am - 5 pm 1 Day / 8 hours Course Location Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Training Academy 112 Academy Drive Conroe, TX 77301 Course Description About CALTRAPS CALTRAPS and Associates’ Basic Concealment course is an eight hour block of instruction which provides law enforcement officers with the basic knowledge of concealment methods utilized by Money Laundering and Drug Trafficking Organizations. In 1994, the founder of CALTRAPS and Associates retired DEA Special Agency Angel Calderon initiated Operation “Trap Door.” The program was developed as an intelligence/ enforcement support program. Focusing on the collections, analysis and dissemination of information pertaining to the concealment methods utilized by Money Laundering and Drug Trafficking Organizations. The course will include: - Introduction to vehicular concealed compartment - Bulk currently concealment and transportation methods - Understanding narcotic organizations and their methods of operating - Recognizing common indicators of modified vehicles - Standard tools that will assist in search - Information on the most common currency hides in vehicles - Commercial motor vehicle concealment methods - Concealment methods in residences and furniture and commercial establishments - Case studies on residential bulk currency seizures in residences and locations - Unusual methods of concealment such as can safes, speakers, modified household items - Financial Operation – Concealment Trap Initiative Introduction to the DEA – Headquarters – Financial Operations Trap Initiative program and how the DEA can assist local officers. In 2007, DEA Headquarters Office of Financial Operation initiated the Headquarters Concealment Trap Initiative (CTI) Program. The program (an extension of Operation Trap Door) was developed to curtail the movement of bulk currency throughout the United States.
