and the natural and cultural charm of our environment
guarantee a unique experience in the academic life of
foreign visitors.
The efforts we have made to support innovation, our

Spain and Andalusia
A MELTING POT IN SOUTHERN EUROPE
Spain is a Mediterranean country and a member of the European Union. It is a democratic State that respects human
rights and is closely linked to Europe, Latin America and the North of Africa. Spain, with a population of 47 million people
and an area of 500,000 square kilometres, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, because of its
climate and its natural, historical and gastronomic heritage.

THE EMPIRE OF THE SENSES
The University of Malaga is in Andalusia, the southernmost region in Spain. Cradle of the Roman Empire, vestige of
the most sophisticated Islamic architecture, port of departure of seafarers and explorers, inspiration and destination of
romantic writers and artists, heart of Flamenco, spring of olive oil…your senses will reveal you the countless secrets
hidden in every corner of Andalusia.

The city of Malaga
THE BLUEST SKY IN EUROPE
The University of Malaga is located in the capital of the
Costa del Sol. Malaga was Picasso’s home town and has
a population of around 500,000 people. It is located in the
Eastern coast of Andalusia and is easily accessible by
different means of transport: high-speed train, seaport, a
renewed freeways network and the (AGP) Malaga Airport
(AGP) -Spain’s third airport in terms of air traffic-, which
takes travellers to Madrid in 45 minutes and to London
or Paris in 2 hours and a half. Besides, moving around
the city is very easy because of the cycle lane and the
public transport network, which combines buses and
underground.

night activities even in the winter

LIFESTYLE
Malaga is well-known for its great quality of life and the beauty of its beaches. The “malagueños”, or the people from
Malaga, are outgoing, tolerant and welcoming. They enjoy the warm climate and bright days of their city -the sunniest
in Europe-, as well as its daytime and night activities, even in the winter. It is a safe city with excellent public health
services and a marked international profile, due to the large British, German, Russian, Dutch and Finnish communities
that have chosen Malaga as their place of residence. In addition, living in Malaga is cheap in comparison with most
European cities.
HISTORY AND CULTURE
Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs have settled in Malaga throughout history. The city has inherited a wonderful legacy
from these communities, such as the Roman Theatre and the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro fortresses. The cultural activities
offered by the city include the Picasso Museum, the Museo Carmen Thyssen, the Museo de Malaga, the Malaga
Contemporary Art Centre, the Festival of Spanish Cinema and many other options to enjoy theatre and musical
performances.

REGISTRATIONS AND FEES
Education at the University of Malaga is quite affordable,
as it is a public institution. The students selected by means
of exchange programmes will receive a tuition waiver
in accordance with the bilateral agreements signed by
the corresponding universities and in accordance to the
conditions of each exchange programme.
In any other case, tuition fees are calculated on the basis
of the number of credits of each subject. The credit fee

Government. Therefore, such fee is subject to small
changes.
For example, the fee corresponding to a first registration
in one subject of a Bachelor’s Degree in the 2011/2012
academic year was 12.20 Euros. A small amount must
be added, corresponding to administrative fees and the
Special Insurance Scheme for Students. The price for
a complete Bachelor’s Degree course that year ranged
between 650 and 700 Euros.
Regarding Master’s Degrees, the credit fee for registering
a subject for the first time was 28.60 Euros. A small

Euros.
For example, the research period of doctoral programmes
is quite affordable. The price of the academic tutelage of

I’m really impressed by the way they execute the manner
of teaching and aids for learning like books and materials.
They are straight forward and direct to the point, as
a learner of another language it’s very difficult to study
languages as an adult but their ways make it easier. I like
the teachers as they are very helpful and will do their best
to help you to understand the lessons; in total it’s a very
nice experience. You meet different kinds of people and
