Our boys will be skating for the Class A Hockey title this weekend and our Strategic Planning will be going live on Sunday. I hope you will be able to attend Saturday’s game against Scarborough at the Colisee in Lewiston. The game begins at 6 p.m. and we need you to cheer on our boys who are playing in the title game for the second straight year. Go Saints! The Strategic Planning Survey will be an online survey which will be sent to all parents, students, staff and alumni via email on Sunday. The results of this survey will be used by the Strategic Planning Team to plan for the immediate and extended future. Topics include St. Dom’s curriculum, facilities, fundraising, tuition and more. We want everyone to have a voice so please make sure you respond as soon as possible. The window for filling out the survey is approximately two weeks and I thank everyone ahead of time for assisting us in this important planning effort. The Great School Spirit Challenge officially ended last Friday and as you probably already heard, our school raised just over 75,000 pounds of food for the Good Shepherd Food Bank. Check out Good Day Maine on Channel 13 tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. to see how we faired with other schools. Representatives from each school will be in the studio for interviews and the announcement of the trophy winner. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this an awesome event and experience. I pray that your experience this Lent is leading to reflection and prayer that fills your life with all that Easter joy has to offer. This Sunday marks the beginning of the three week celebration of the Scrutinies that are a way for us to recognize what we need to purge from our lives or add to our lives so that we can live closer to the Gospel values that Jesus left us. Over the last several weeks, St. Dom’s students, families and staff have been heavily involved in the Spirit Challenge to raise 75,000 pounds of food for the Good Shepherd Food Bank. Throughout this challenge, students have been bringing in donations as well as purchasing hot chocolate and popcorn for $1, as well as coordinating many other fundraisers with all proceeds going directly to the Spirit Challenge Earlier last week, staff brought a bus full of food donations to the food bank. After weighing in, St. Dom’s was within 10,000 pounds of the goal. A last minute plea was sent out to parents, students and staff for monetary donations to help reach the goal. In a 24-hour period, almost $700, equivalent to 2,800 pound of food, was donated! Click here to download another copy of the registration form. Thank you to the families who have already sent in their child’s form and registration fee! As indicated, re-enrolling your child and paying the fee prior to March 1 qualifies for the $75 discount off of the registration fee. Registrations received after Monday, March 2 will be charged the full $200. Some families have posed questions regarding tuition and what it costs to educate your child. To clarify, every family receives financial aid as we do not charge families 100 percent of the cost to educate each student. The “cost of education” figure on the re-enrollment form is the total cost per student. This cost is NOT next year’s tuition but simply what St. Dom’s will spend to educate your child for the 2015-16 academic year. Families who have not yet applied for tuition assistance still have time to do so. Click here to fill out the application for aid. The Financial Aid Committee is working diligently on the over 250 requests for aid. As you can imagine, this is a challenging process that involves the school working to meet each family’s need, as reported to us by FACTS, while remaining within our tuition assistance budget. As calculated by FACTS, our families qualify for over $860,000 in tuition assistance. We hope to have tuition assistance information out to you by the end of next week. As always, if you have questions or would like more information about re-enrollment or tuition assistance, please contact Jim Boulet in the Admissions Office at 207.782.6911 ext. 2110.
