Formed by drummer/producer Audrey Tait and Scottish battle rap champion Louie, Hector Bizerk have an insatiable desire to experiment
with noise, colour, rhythm and rhyme. Their live show is a crescendo of thought-provoking music that includes elements of live visual art,
b-boying and improvisation. Hector Bizerk is a celebration of modern hip hop culture with a Scottish twist, combining frontman Louie’s
razor sharp poetry with incredible tribal rhythms and grooving funk basslines that encapsulates audiences.

Following the split of his old band Purple Divide, Guitarist/Vocalist Dale Sutherland looked to challenge himself with a new project.
After experimenting with his song writing, Dale set his sights on a sound heavier than Purple Divide. With a focus on big dynamic riffs
and drawing influence from bands such as Arcane Roots, Biffy Clyro, Muse, Oceansize and Marmozets, the sound of Alkanes began to
develop.

Sweet White are a 5-piece indie band from Peterhead, Scotland.
Things began with only 2 members writing and recording music
together in a bedroom. Their sound has been described as “catchy

Pronto Mama are a past post-modern bug-eyed beatnik group from Glasgow who are just as confused as anyone else. They are soulful.
They believe irreverent wordplay, clean musicianship and a dirty dedication to song-writing is how you do it. The music is built around the
songs written by Marc Rooney and Ciaran McEneny, who in coughing copy-cat fashion opted for McEneny/Rooney. Keeping it alphabetical
preserves good feeling and the over-arching idea you have of yourself, maybe.

Min Diesel are a guitar-led three-piece from the North-east
of Scotland, who shamelessly plunder the best bits from their
favourite late-80s/early-90s punk, lo-fi and math-rock bands’ to
create music they’ve taken great amusement from dubbing “mindie rock”. Min Diesel have shared a stage with Errors, Acoustic
Ladyland, Joan of Arc, Hot Club de Paris, Sky Larkin and Paws.

THE VIEW
The View rose out of Dundee back in 2007 and were second only
to Franz Ferdinand in terms of popular Scottish indie-rock bands
from that decade, with debut Hats Off to the Buskers topping
the UK album charts and since then going on to release another
three records. The band are now preparing their latest effort,
with iconic guitarist of The Strokes, Albert Hammond Jr. offering
production.

founder members Stuart Adamson and Bruce Watson both
native of the band’s hometown Dunfermline in Scotland. The

hits, selling over 2 million copies and driving The Crossing to 3

Off The Record is organised by Born To Be Wide. It is supported by
the Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) programme,

Cockney Rejects were formed in the late seventies in East
London as an answer to the art school punk that had dominated
the scene up until then. Fiercely working class in stance and
attitude, the band shunned the political ramblings of punk’s first
wave and sang about the circumstances that surrounded them.
Spotted by Sham 69’s Jimmy Pursey and signed by EMI after
playing four local gigs they found themselves playing sell out
tours the length and breadth of the UK.

our friends. Geffen records bought it..! for a million dollars! We
never needed a self-appointed quango of jaded vampires to tell
us how to sing the blues...we got MOJO. We have the power to

SKERRYVORE
When Skerryvore first formed in 2005, little did they know
they’d be in a position to celebrate a decade together in 2015.
Along the way, the band brought out their second album, On
the Road in 2007, but it was with the release of self-titled third
album, Skerryvore, that the band found themselves catapulted
into the musical limelight winning a string of prestigious awards,

Hayseed Dixie began in the summer of 2000 in the fertile
valley of Deer Lick Holler, deep in the heart of the Appalachian
Mountains of East Tennessee USA. In this area which was
completely isolated from outside cultural and musical
influence, the boys grew up playing the traditional music of
their forefathers on banjo, fiddle, mandolin, acoustic guitar and
acoustic bass.
If variety is the spice of life, then The Shee’s live show has a
flavour to suit every palate. Full of zest, zing and zip, unlike
many of their folky contemporaries this all-female Scots-English
sextet have a lot more going for them than just high-level
musicianship and the ability to play fast. Subtlety, stagecraft
and an inner confidence are also strengths. Whether it’s Scots,
Gaelic, Bluegrass or Scandinavian music – once a tune has gone
through the “Sheemachine”, it’s theirs.

Caroline Bowditch presents her intimate and enticing show exploring the life, loves and legacy of painter Frida Kahlo (1907-1954).
Falling in Love with Frida is the reclaiming of a disabled artist, a love like obsession, an enquiry into how we shape what we are remembered
for. Affinities and parallels are drawn and the tale of ‘the great concealer’ is skillfully revealed through powerful yet fragile bodies.

stars. For our Lemon Tree Christmas show this year A Ladder to the Stars (see p. 35) we’ve teamed up with Scottish
theatre company Visible Fictions who’ve been creating theatre for young people for nearly 25 years. Our popular A Play,

A comet is coming: the drama of the cosmos and the
city streets entwine in Escape Speed, a play created in
consultation with the Astronomer Royal for Scotland.
Escape Seed follows the fate of Emma, a tough teen with a

their paths collide on one eventful night, their earth-bound

Serendipity
If you thought good fortune in your life is all down to chance, then
we invite you think again. Performer, director, and teaching artist
Sarah Rose Graber will be spending time at The Lemon Tree in
October, developing a new piece of work exploring the question - is
good fortune just luck, or is it a state of mind? Sarah Rose’s many
studies include researching theatre for social change and she’ll
be working with Mel Woods, Reader at the University of Dundee
and founding member of Girl Geek Scotland who has recently
completed a major research award, RCUK SerenA, investigating
serendipity, through design prototypes to support information
discovery, creativity and innovation.

by actor/director Cameron Mowat and actor/playwright Adam
Coutts, both based in Aberdeen and both familiar faces on the

working with Cameron and Adam to bring 10ft Tall together.
During their time at The Lemon Tree, 10ft Tall have been working

HOW MUCH?
We’ve printed the whole price of ticket in the brochure, this includes the booking fee (the only extra you’ll
have to pay for is postage, but why not print your own at home?) – there could well be discounts for students,
children, over 60s or APA Friends – just ask or check online.
DO I SIT OR STAND?
A bit of both – we try and create the right atmosphere for each gig, some will have seats, some won’t – we’ve
tried to list it where we can here.
If it says ‘doors’ then that’s when the doors open and you get inside for a drink. If it says ‘start’ that’s when the
show starts. Some shows have support acts, we can’t always confirm this until nearer the time and ‘start’ can
mean the start of the support act, not the main act

WHERE IS IT?
You will find The Lemon Tree right behind
Marischal College on West North Street – just
in case you’re not sure, here’s a map:
By bus: there is a bus stop right outside and
we’re just round the corner from Union St,
King St and Broad St so lots of buses
By car: try the car parks at Frederick St,
Marischall College and Gallowgate.
HOW MUCH?
We’ve printed the whole price of ticket in the brochure, this includes the booking fee (the only extra you’ll
have to pay for is postage, but why not print your own at home?) – there could well be discounts for students,
children, over 60s or APA Friends – just ask or check online.
A bit of both – we try and create the right atmosphere for each gig, some will have seats, some won’t – we’ve
tried to list it where we can here.
WHAT DO THE TIMES MEAN?
If it says ‘doors’ then that’s when the doors open and you get inside for a drink. If it says ‘start’ that’s when the
show starts. Some shows have support acts, we can’t always confirm this until nearer the time and ‘start’ can
mean the start of the support act, not the main act
