Page 2 Montessori School of Lemont Auction Season Hands on soil-study for the Lower Elementary class! Our 24th Annual Auction will be held this month at Ruffled Feathers Country Club in Lemont! Our auction team, Jeannie Markionni, Jill McNaughton and Kim McGraw have planned a formal event with a sit down dinner, open bar and dancing featuring a Silent and Live Auction. Funds raised from classroom projects and “Teacher Features" are allocated to teachers to purchase classroom materials. Remaining proceeds will benefit our building fund. MSOL was established in 1979 and for 20 years rented space in various churches for our programs. In 1999 an MSOL parent donated eight acres of property, allowing us to finally have a home of our own. Charitable contributions to our building fund have made it possible to finance three buildings and a beautiful natural playground. Recent improvements to our campus include the parking lot expansion in 2013, the chicken coop in 2014 and this year we added 500 feet of fence along the eastern border of our playground. Our next major project is a building to house the Adolescent Program, a Toddler Program, a multipurpose space or all of the above! $1,000 sponsorships are availa- ble to support the Building Expansion Exploratory Committee. Thank you to the members of our school community who have already supported the auction and to our dedicated staff who make time the time to create priceless classroom projects. We are all a part of creating the MSOL legacy and every donation counts. Consider becoming a sponsor, procure donations, host a golf foursome, borrow a friends vacation home or timeshare, donate your airline miles or gift cards or better yet, attend this wonderful event! -Therese Colby [While reading short vowel words. . .] “Bun. The school was established in 1979 by teachers dedicated to offering families an individualized educational approach for their children. The school relocated to Lemont in 1990. In 2001, the school moved to its permanent location after the construction of a new campus on 7.5 acres of donated land. In 2010, a third was completed to accommodate the growing enrollment and in 2011, a “natural” playground and an organic community garden were created. Funds are currently being raised to expand our campus to provide for the youngest (toddler) and oldest (adolescent) members of our community.
