Benediction Meeting adjourned News letter editor Roger A lot has happened during these past months lets see if I can remember what it was… Our Amberjack memorial went off with a slight hitch, yes the Cob had to go to the aid of his son in law who was in an accident but the ceremonies went well, we had a fabulous turn out, the nuclear school and the commanding officer, the command master chief were there along with the honor guard, USSVI members along with our WWII Hero’s, had the place of honor along with the Captain of the Nuclear power School our thanks to all who made this service happen with out a hitch. John Adams our second president: In his diary entry dated February 22, 1756 John Adams wrote: 4 Suppose a nation in some region should take the Bible for their only law book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love and reverence toward the Almighty God…What a Utopia, what a Paradise would this region be. Associate Member Mike Emerson of the WWII Submarine (Swamp Fox Chapter), members receives his Holland Club pin from old Swampy Lee Allison, this pin certifies that you are Qualified in Submarines for over 50 years Who is the one holding the rope? And what is pulling them “hint”, see the marks in the periscope; But what I forgot to tell you, this is what happens when you get behind in your submarine Qualification card… News flash!!!! Rumor has it that Sue Eckles has taken up An assistant to help her train dogs to get street Smart; this is one of her trainers, look at the Poor dogs face. 5 Some humor from “Ken our associate roving reporter” In the Blue Ridge Mountains, there was a retired sailor who was reputed to have the best bird hunting dog ever by the name of "First Class." Two Commanders and an Admiral went up into the mountains and wanted to rent him. The old sailor said, "Good huntin' dog, gonna cost ya $50.00 a day." They agreed and three days later came back with their limit. The next year they came back. "First Class got better, gonna cost you $75.00 a day." Again they agreed, and 2 days later they came back with their limit. The third year they came back and told the old sailor they had to have First Class even if it cost $100.00 a day. "You can have the worthless mutt for $5.00 a day, and I'm overcharging you $4.00." "But, we don't understand, what happened to him?" "Well, a bunch of enlisted guys from the Navy base in Norfolk came up and rented him. One of the idiots kept calling him "Chief," and he's just been sitting on his ass barking ever since." Reminder to all associates the WWII due’s are due by June so we can send the comptroller report in August, for associates $20.00, Robbie will be sending out reminders along with an envelope. Just a reminder, Rick Wise our USSVI Cob has gone above and beyond in all he has done, next time maybe we can help when he needs it and to all who have “Thank you!” I can always use Help Don’t forget we have a USSVI and WWII picnic at the Barn in Dorchester May 21st 2011 bring something sweet….
