FREE EXPO Cheboygan High School Saturday, April 14 12:00pm-4:45pm A family friendly Expo featuring presentations about the earth and its creatures, student art projects, Eco-tastic Contest Awards and displays from sponsors. Enjoy snacks and fun with friends. Attendees are invited to bring a non-perishable food item. These will be given to St. Thomas Food Pantry. Session A: 12:45 -1:45 1. Crazy About Containers By Pat Esther-Schmidt of Pat’s Posie Patch. How to successfully plant in any container that will hold soil. 2. Basics of Bee Behavior and Beekeeping By Dale Giddings. 3. Basic Poultry Raising by Sue Good. What you need to know to start raising chickens. 4. Little Traverse Conservancy: Northern Michigan’s Land Trust By Melissa Hansen. Learn about land conservation, stewardship and nature education efforts in our region. Session B: 2:00-3:00 1. Animal Tracks: Who Goes There? By Maureen Stine of Natureology. Family friendly workshop to learn how to identify animal tracks in the sand, mud and snow. Make plaster casts of sample tracks to take home. 2. Feeding Birds in the Winter By Jim Bricker. Care, food and feeder types to attract an abundance of birds to your yard. 3. What are My Gardening Choices? By Lynda and Don Tracey of Tracey Farms. Learn about your options. Grow your own, containers, coops, work or exchange for it, or buy local? 4. Cars of the Future? By Jerry Kanka of Fernelius Auto Group of Cheboygan Learn about gas mileage rules, hybrid cars, how they work and on-site tours of a Prius and an eco-boost Ford engine. Youth Programs 5. Build a Bluebird House Ages 8-12 (limit 10) By Pete Chimner and Dale Giddings. Build your own bluebird house and learn how to care for it. 6. Owls and Their Prey. All ages.
