downhill at the ankles of the
opponents in an attempt to hurt them
as they were fleeing. This game was a
great practice for Hawaiians due to
the Makahiki season being a time of
peace. When the time of Kū came
around again, they were trained!
The materials needed
is one round Ulumaika,
made of stone and two
sticks to aim the ulumaika
through.
Moʻolelo
The warriors of olden days would
practice marksmanship and aim
through the Ulumaika game. They
would start off close and then throw
from further and further away each
time. As they got further away, their
aim had to be better and better.
