Executive Board
of the David Lennon Foundation. I am
completely invested into EFC as I have
three sons (Tyler, Corey and Kasey) who
play, and my husband, Don also volunteers
his time coaching Jr. Varsity Purple. I
have enjoyed seeing many successes in
this inaugural year, and looks forward to
serving EFC for years to come!
David DeBerardino
2nd Vice President
Nick Sherevan
President & Head Football Coach
I began coaching in 1975 when I
responded to an ad in the paper to coach
youth football. It offered no salary, but
said excellent fringe benefits. When I was
hired, the fringe benefits became merely a
shake of the hand and a pat on the back!
However, neither was necessary. The
honor and privilege I have been given to
help make a difference in young men’s life
far outweighs any sacrifice of time spent.
Having alumni Aaron Horne, Allen Horne,
Jimmy Madigan, Fred Elias, Ryan Joseph,
& Jacob Zanke on the field with me today
is like spending time with my sons. We are
“One Family” for life and we will carry on
our great tradition.
Dawn Pischel
1st Vice-President
I serve as the EFC board ad First Vice
President. I am an attorney who has
created and serves on several nonprofit
boards as part of my job as vice-president
for a local non-profit organization. In
addition, I am President of the Angus
Elementary PTO, and serve on the board
I am the 2nd VP and the Director of
Sponsorships for EEFC. My wife Christina
is very involved with the EEFC Ad Book. I
have one son that plays on JV Purple and
one on Freshmen Purple. My sons have
been involved with CYO football for the
past 5 years prior to EEFC. I am a Civil
Engineer for a large consulting firm where
I manage road and bridge construction
projects in Michigan and Florida. I
am continually amazed at the level of
commitment that so many people have
dedicated to the EEFC and look forward to
the tremendous successes that lie ahead.
Jen Madigan
Secretary
I am the secretary for the EFC as well as
trustee for the WCEF and a member of the
Warren Mott High School booster club.
My husband Jim is a varsity coach and our
youngest son Brendan is on the JVP team.
We have participated and coached in other
city and CYO football clubs before this.
Nothing has been as exciting as working
from scratch to build a new club. We have
met so many wonderful families and look
forward to many successful years ahead for
the EFC. Go Eagles!!
Aaron Horne
Treasurer
I am husband to our Cheer Director Tara
Horne and father to Varsity Cheerleader
Trinity and Junior Varsity Purple football
player Brock. I am a Coach Nick alumni
playing for him from 1979 - 1983. I
graduated from C.S Mott High School in
1988 earning All-State honors in football.
I received a football scholarship to Ferris
State University playing there from 19881991. I stayed with Ferris State in the fall
of 1992 working with the coaching staff
as a student assistant. In addition, the
fall of 1993 I was the assistant freshman
football Coach for Warren Mott. After
earning my Bachelors Degree in Criminal
Justice, I have been employed with the
Macomb County Sheriff ’s Department
for 18 years in various positions such
as road patrol, undercover work and
the Macomb County S.W.A.T. Team. I
have been involved in youth sports for
the past 8 years coaching various sports,
including 3 years of football. In 2011 with
the guidance of my mentor Coach Nick
Sherevan I shared his vision for a new
youth football program and helped him
create the Eastside Eagles. I currently am
the Co-incorperator, Treasurer and the
Assistant Head Coach on Varsity where
I work directly with the linebackers on
defense and running backs on offense.
I am honored to work along side Coach
Nick and his staff. I share the vision and
passion of all of the board members and
families to make the Eastside Eagles the
premier youth football program in our
area!
David DeBerardino, Betty Wolgast, Aaron Horne, Jeff Kreibich, Jennifer Madigan, Dawn Pischel
Board Appointed Directors for Cheerleading & Football
Tara Horne
Cheerleading Director
My most important roles are wife to
Coach Aaron Horne & other of Varsity
Cheerleader Trinity Horne and Junior
Varsity Purple football player Brock
Horne. I also work part time in a
dental office and am a independent
sales consultant. This is my first year
as Cheer Director and Cheer Coach
and am honored to be part of EFC. My
background in cheer derives mostly from
both Jr. High School and High School
where I cheered for the Lake Orion
Dragons from 1985 - 1988. I became
involved in cheerleading again during my
daughters 6th grade year when she asked
if she could try out cheerleading, of course
I was thrilled. I love the that while it is
fun for the girls to cheer on their team
and preforming crowd pleasing stunts;
cheerleading also teaches important life
values such as preparation, dedication and
working together as a team. Installing a
practice for the larger arena of life while
developing long term friendships. I am
honored to be a part of this program as I
not only have one daughter but 31 to watch
as they grow into confident young ladies.
Allen Horne
Football Director
I am the Football Director for the EFC
and Coach on the Jr. Freshman Purple
team. This is my fifth year coaching youth
football, all with Coach Nick. As a 9 year
old in 1975 Nick was my first coach and I
am proud to have my sons to be a part of
Allen Horne, Tara Horne
an organization with coach. I have one son
on the Freshman Purple team (Luke), and
my other son (Jacob) is a part of EFC video
team. I am looking forward to building a
great program.
General Board Members
Pam Sherevan
I am honored to serve on the EFC board to help
bring the dimension of Charities to our program.
We believe this aspect can enhance our vision in
contributing to develop the whole athlete. Outside
of doing what I can for the program and our
Eagles, I have spent 25 years in marketing and
advertising. We are blessed to have had so many
wonderful people in our life through the years. I
am most proud of Nick’s coaching career when his
adult alumni tell me what a positive influence his
program brought to them as a boy; still remains
today; and how it helped them to become better
men.

You see athletes large, small and in between. Some are gifted and know it, so they
coast. Others are not and know it, so they work like crazy. A select few are gifted
and work like crazy. There is a place for all of them in youth, junior high and high
school sports.
There also is a place for their parents. So many places. You find them behind the
wheel, in dugouts, on benches, in lawn chairs, at concession stands, in hotel lobbies.
They work ahead or work split shifts or work into the wee hours, all in an attempt to
be there when the boy or girl they welcomed into the world digs in with the bases
loaded or drives to the basket. Occasionally, they look in the mirror or at the bank
statement and wonder, “Is it worth it? Is all of this really worth it?” Here’s the good
news, a tad late for Mother’s Day, but early for Father’s Day.
Yes. It is absolutely worth it. The wins and losses fade. Trophies collect dust in an
attic. Stat sheets wind up in a recycle bin. None of them may matter. You realize it
years later. Like the day you wake up and your youngest is graduating from college. At our house, it is Friday. You hear him talk about a semester-long project
that involved building a city - designing the water system, infrastructure, etc. - and
the mind drifts to fields here and in other cities, other states. It was a group project
requiring strategy, planning, execution and, more than anything, teamwork.
Sports introduced him to all of it. They taught him that life isn’t always fair. Line
drives get caught. Bloopers fall in. Referees miss calls. Players drop balls. Deal with
it. Learn from it. Move on. Sports strengthened their resolve, toughened their skin.
So when an irate boss openly voices his/her displeasure, they can tell a concerned
co-worker: “It’s OK. I’ve had coaches yell at me.” Doesn’t mean they like it, doesn’t
make it right. But they can handle it. Sports prepare them to manage success and
disappointment, deal with adversity. Remember that the next time you drive six
hours to a sweltering summer tournament, or shiver under a blanket at a spring
doubleheader. It’s worth it.
Just be sure to occasionally take a breath, take a step back and take a second to
enjoy the moment. It doesn’t last much beyond that. Games turn to seasons and
seasons to years, faster than you can say, “Do you have everything in your bag?”
Squeeze what you can from the long rides, the overnight stays. You never get those
back. Be a shame to waste them listening to an iPod or dwelling on a loss.
Encourage them to succeed but allow them to fail. They learn from both. Be there
either way. It’s all they will remember. Experience the journey with them, not
through them. You had your time. This is theirs, no matter how many hours you
contribute. Keep in mind, the key is not whether they make or miss the winning
shot, but accept responsibility for taking it. If they can do that, they won’t shy away
from much at work, in school, in life. Hold them accountable beyond the court/
field. Remind them playing sports is like any privilege. It can be taken away.
Finally, continue to give them love and support, win or lose.
Stay in the game. It’s worth it.

Congratulations to
Coach Pa & your
Eastside Eagles on
their Inaugural Year!
We are looking forward to playing
and cheering for the Eagles - but
you’ll have to wait just a little bit
longer while we grow!
Dear Parents, Families and Friends,
This homecoming souvenir program is presented to you through the generosity and support of the
businesses and patrons whose ad appear herein. They include businesses within our program family and
our surrounding community.
Hey PaPa,
I just wanted to
be the
Water Boy
this Year
:-)
The Eastside Eagles program that our children participate in are outfitted with the very best of
equipment as a direct result of the funds provided here and is heavily dependent on your support as
