portable hand-held controller, and foot-operated controller can be positioned for
convenient access from any point around the table.
Control made easy
The LCD screen of the Main Control Panel displays actual tabletop position
(all axes) in real time, and provides menus and prompts for other functions. Up
to ten position sets may be stored in system memory. A "Level" button brings the
table to 0° tilt and 0° lateral roll while "Home" both levels and lowers the
tabletop to minimum height for patient transfer. The portable hand-held and
foot-operated controllers offer the freedom to adjust the table from other areas
around the table. The Joystick Controller is used for motorized X-Y positioning

• Boot Design – reduces pressure under the popliteal fossa and
superficial peroneal nerve.
• Floating, Self-Adjusting Boot –minimizes pressure on the calf,
when moving the stirrup.
• Lift-Assist – allows easy movement of the leg when placing it in
the desired position.
• Twist Release Grip Handle – easy intra-operative adjustment
without compromising the sterile field. Simply twist the handle
to secure the leg holder in all directions.
• Lithotomy Range – between +84° to -33° lithotomy.
• Abduction Range – between +25° to -9° abduction.
• Lithotomy & Length Indicators – ensures precise positioning.
AL Stirrups represent the gold standard in lithotomy positioning.
They allow for easy adjustment of abduction and lithotomy while
maintaining the sterile field. The boot design reduces pressure under the
popliteal fossa and the superficial peroneal nerve. The stirrup enables safe
and easy positioning while providing enhanced surgical site access.

Controller Extension Arm
Position the controllers exactly where you need them - at your fingertips!
onvenience is key
during any procedure. Biodex now offers
an extension arm for
the controllers, whether
for the table or the
C-Arm, to put control
at your fingertips. The
Controller Extension
Arm mounts to an OR
accessory rail and holds
virtually any controller.
C
ompletely radiolucent, the Carbon Fiber Surgical Arm Board allows
for C-Arm visualization of the entire arm and into the shoulder. With
a wide surface and 2" thick padding, the carbon fiber arm board is designed on an angle to provide more natural positioning. It has a leg that
can be adjusted within the same height range as our tables. The carbon
fiber is .125" thick and is overlapped instead of woven to minimize attenuation during the imaging process.

Table Accessory
Clamp is designed to
mount to all Biodex
carbon fiber top
C-arm tables. It is
used to attach a table

rotect yourself from scatter radiation. Biodex offers maximum
protection Scatter Radiation Shields, designed to fit all Biodex
C-Arm tables with a contour top. These shields are custom fitted to
match the unique contours of the Biodex tabletop. Constructed of
0.5 mm lead equivalent panels, the shields do not impede C-Arm access.
There are two shields available. One is designed to be used at the head
end of the table for head and cervical procedures. The other is used at the
main section of the table during thoracic or abdominal procedures.
The shields are easy to add or remove as needed. There are no
attachment parts necessary, no metal to obscure the image. The shields
simply drape over the tabletop, beneath the mattress. Shields are
purchased individually and may used in combination for total protection
or for select region of interest.

SETTING STANDARDS TO AVOID R/F RADIATION OVERDOSES
Principles for Fluoroscopically Guided Procedures
Physicians who do not work with radiation often are warned of the dangers
of skin burns by the FDA Center for Devices and Radiologic Health (CDRH)
from overexposure when fluoroscopy is used for prolonged periods of time,
such as in guiding catheters for interventional cardiology or gastrointestinal
procedures.
More importantly, CDRH is offering suggestions to avoid mishaps - such
as staying in tune to radiation outputs, knowing the radiation levels of the
fluoroscopy system, knowing how long is too long to use fluoro on a patient
and setting procedure protocols.
• Establish standard operating procedures and clinical protocols to
address patient selection; conduct of the procedure; actions in response
to complications; and consideration of limits on exposure time.
• Know the radiation dose rates for the specific fluoroscopic system and
for each mode of operation used during the protocol.
• Assess the impact of each procedure’s protocol on the potential for
radiation injury.
• Limit the cumulative absorbed dose of any irradiated area of the skin
to the minimum necessary for the clinical tasks. Avoid approaching
cumulative doses that would induce unacceptable adverse effects.
• Enlist a qualified medical physicist to assist in implementing these
principles.
