Frograss Boring Old Coot:: Ad Infinitum LSIS JETROCKET AIMED AT DAHLONEGA! From our correspondent aboard LSIS* missile ship “Butdloytsur”-somewhere off the Georgia coast. Our previous report found the infamous Lirpa Sloof with his JetRocket in North Korea where Kim Jung Um was convinced it was an inter-continental rocket capable of attacking Utah (where he believed there were no basketball players). It was another of those "monumental misunderstandings" plaguing Lirpa's feckless life. Just before Kim was able to look for the thrusters under the Jet's hood, Kim's buddy Dennis Rodman prevailed upon Kim to release Lirpa with this plaintive and compelling plea: "Yo Kimster, put old Popster back in my crib, know what I'm sayin'?" Forthwith Kim, now allied with the mysterious LSIS organization, deployed the JetRocket to the Georgia coast (where there are nothing but basketball players). Kim Jung Um, who only gets old "Lucy" shows on his TV set, still despises Nikita Khrushchev. Seeing a forbidden leaflet depicting Becky and John Old Gossip #2: Cloe D. Hint on translation of unfamiliar words: Go backwards! Upchurch in their Chinese fur hats Kim decided they were Nina and Nikita Khrushchev in disguise and commanded LSIS to declare war against Dahlonega, GA. But Lirpa reports that it was the Russian Bear image of the infamous DBITS (Dahlonega Bear In The Square) plot which really set Kim off. Sloof confirmed this in his native Sanskrit(?): "GNIRB EIKSUR AKDOV" *LSIS is the acronym for the shadowy “Lirpa Sloof Is Somewhere” organization, which has once again hijacked our front page !! This seems to happen every two years. Saturday, March 21, 2015. At the DQ in Cumming Hosts Robert and Linda Hudson organized a really gorgeous Spring day for our North Georgia tour of historic gas stations, making up for last year, when a forecast of heavy rain aborted our plans for this meet. The early bird group which assembled at the Cumming Dairy Queen in the 9 AM sunshine comprised five Hudsons, a Cadillac Allanté, an AustinHealey 3000 and Rick KaHistory! men’s Ford Econoline van, resplendent in dark blue and rust. Oscar and Bonita Roberts also joined us in a BrandRick’s Econoline X. Unfortunately the DQ was not yet open for refreshments, so after our first photo opportunity at the adjacent historic Sinclair station in Cumming we set off on the first leg of our tour through the Georgia countryside to Gainesville and then on to Talmo, a drive of about 34 miles. Saturday traffic and non-cooperating traffic lights necessitated a few hesitations along the way to let the tailend Charlies catch up, but we finally all arrived together in Talmo and parked at the historic Texaco station. Photos Hudsons at the Talmo Ranch were taken, and meanwhile Wayne Miller, the proprietor of the gas station (and, we Robert Hudson & understand, of most of Talmo) arrived to greet us. We were then fortunate to be invitWayne Miller ed by Wayne to visit his car collection at the nearby Talmo Ranch, and followed him there. 3 At Wayne Miller’s Talmo Ranch collection The collection is housed in a modern building constructed to look like an old gas station, complete with vintage gas pumps. Inside was a spectacular assortment of seventeen beautifully restored cars and automobile memorabilia which we spent half an hour admiring and discussing before hitting the road again. We caravanned back through Gainesville and on to Dawsonville, on the way picking up two more Hudsons, the ‘52 Hornet Club Coupe driven by Preston A huddle of stepdowns Stevens and grandson James Wayt, and a ‘51 Pacemaker sedan carrying Dan Fullerton and Nancy Delf. Our destination was Gordon Pirkle’s Pool Room restaurant in Lunch stop downtown Dawsonville. We ate lunch in the Pool Room, surrounded by historic pictures and newspaper cuttings of NASCAR races and personalities. After lunch we again had photos taken of the cars at the Pure Oil gas station (now an antique store). At this point some of the group had to head for home, but the remainder In the Pool Room moved on to the final stop, a Gulf station (now a liquor store) beside the Dawsonville courthouse in the center of town. Thanks to Robert and Linda for a most enjoyable day’s outing.
