Day 1 (half day) with Lyn Sewing students from left, Sally, Nalyn, Rose, Alma, Jinky & Jasmin Treddle (with electric) sewing machines bought for $85 each at Taytay Course was free for participants & included meals Training venue - our neighbours garage Four students who hadn't sewn before practicing using lined paper with no thread Shopping for elastic & fabric at Tay Tay Sewing pin cushions then sewing fabric bags Day 2 (half day) with Lyn Our neighbour Nita joined the course working from home Rose & Alma made hot pot holders Quite a few visitors came through checking out what was going on Students rotated machines so they could try the different types of machine Visitors helping teach students Sally sewed a variety of hot pot holders Day 3 (full day) with Teacher Cathy Teacher Cathy doing a sewing machine overview presentation Aileen from Mandaluyong City joined the training course Teacher Cathy showing Rose and the other ladies how to sew shorts Teacher Cathy showing the ladies how to cut out shorts (in 4 sizes) Teacher Cathy instructing the class Sally made a few pairs of shorts Day 4 (full day) with Teacher Cathy Teacher Cathy showing the other ladies how to sew eco bags Teacher Cathy taught the ladies how to sew quilted cushion covers Teacher Cathy taught Nalyn how to sew a tablet holder Servicing the old Bernina sewing machine Quilted cushion cover sample made by Cathy Day 5 (half day) practice session, student interviews & signing their contracts Jasmin made a cover for her chair Mum signing the contract for Nalyn’s sewing machine Students practiced the items they learned while we interviewed each student separately. We then asked each student to sign their contract agreeing to look after the sewing machine, get it serviced and use it to its potential. Anyone ceasing the business must return the machine. Alma was so happy she was crying the whole time and prayed for us afterwards After lunch - Praying at the end of the course, big smiles from the ladies Sewing machines & tub of supplies given to students Jasmin & Jinky received a baby juki treddle for the family plus repairs to their old treddle Rose was given a new Nalyn was given the Singer Brother portable machine pre-owned machine Alma was given a new Genki portable machine Sally was given a baby juki treddle with electric Aileen (industrial baby juki treddle with electric)
