Ken was born in Coventry and joined
Humber Ltd (soon to become) Rootes
Group, as an Apprentice in the
motorcar industry where he worked
for 42 continuous years. As Senior R&D
Engineer he guided the design and
development of the Hillman Imp. Ken’s
lifelong passion for steam railways
began in the 1930s and latterly, he
built high quality true-to-scale model
railway engines and rolling stock. His
modelling was precise as he researched
extensively before commencing a
model to ensure accuracy of detail.
If the parts he needed were not
available or historically accurate he
would build them himself from scratch.
The quality of his workmanship was
widely recognised, featured in model
magazines and received prizes at many
events.
