INDIANAPOLIS CHAPTER NO. 1, INC
CHAPTER #1238
Message from your Director
Oh, wow. What a fantastic meeting we had this past Saturday. The attendance just
continues to grow and grow. The club picture that was taken was fast and well organized.
We owe a big “Thank
You” to Ken White for
his leadership in
arranging this event.
There is information
about when and where
we can purchase
individual pictures of
the group shot on page .
Also look for a large
copy of the picture in
the dealership in the
next couple of months.
We also had a well
attend chapter ride after the meeting Saturday. Over 50 people participated in the ride to
Lafayette and from what I have heard, everyone had a enjoyable time. I, personally, was
unable to go due to a dead bike on Saturday morning. It was nothing a new battery didn’t
fix; plus, I would rather have it go bad at home then when Lynda and I were on the Blue
Ridge the previous Saturday.
This month we have plenty of opportunities to get out and ride. We have several rides
planned the next couple of Saturdays, impromptu rides on Sunday’s with new friends and
old and the Indiana State Rally starting on June 22nd until June 24th on the south side of
Indianapolis.
It’s not to early to start thinking about July either. The Yankee Doodle Symphony Ride
to Connor Prairie should be a great time for all. The club went to one last year and had a
great time prior to a major thunderstorm moving into the area. Call Sherri at the
dealership for reservations. Let’s have a large group go this year. The date is Monday,
July 2nd.
Continue to check the 2007 Events Calendar every month as it is updated continuously by
Charlie Burke.
Well, another month has come and gone. I look forward to seeing everyone on a ride or
at the next club meeting on Saturday, July 7th.
See you then, Dave

Chapter Meeting Minutes
Submitted by Tammy Burke
Meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Dave Bridges.
The sign in sheet indicated 151 members present. This was an increase of 43 HOG members in attendance over
last month.
Opening General Discussion: A big “thank you” to Russ and H-D of Indianapolis for breakfast. Largest crowd yet in
attendance.
Introduction/Welcome of New Members/Guests: There was an introduction of new members. Welcome to all!
Please participate in HOG Chapter rides and events. Get involved! Have fun and ride!
The Chapter has adopted a “no alcohol” policy on rides or at events. This means riders will have to abstain from alcohol
during the ride or event. If a rider drinks, they will be asked to leave the group.
The group photo was taken immediately after the meeting in front of the dealership. Thanks to Ken White for organizing the group photo. Look for information elsewhere in this newsletter on how to purchase the photo.
HOG Chapter merchandise is available for pickup from Sherrie Hammer at the dealership. If you previously ordered
shirts or hats, see Sherrie. Cash or checks accepted only as payment for merchandise. Make checks payable to HOG
Chapter.
Kelvis Williams, H-D of Indianapolis Service Manager, applauded Russ, their new Master Harley-Davidson Service
Technician. Russ completed the requirements within three years, which is quite an honor. Congratulations Russ!
Officer’s Report:
Director, David Bridges. Chaired the meeting. Mystery HOG winner was Wally Boughton who won a H-D of Indianapolis Gift Card. Don’t forget about the Indiana State HOG Rally on June 22-24. There will be a dealership party
for those that have pre-registered at Southside H-D on Thursday night before the rally starts. Rally starts on Friday.
Pick up registration packets on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Volunteers should know their schedule. Contact
David for more information.
Assistant Director, Steve Hartshorne. Dedication of the veterans memorial did take place on Memorial Day. Thanks to
all who attended.
Treasurer, Carolyn James. Nametags have come in and may be picked up at any HOG Chapter meeting. A new order
will be placed when we get at least 12 to order. Nametags are $8.00 each and take approximately 4-5 weeks to come
in.
Secretary, Tammy Burke. Thanks for signing in at each meeting. If your name is not on the list, there is a separate sheet
for you to sign and then we will add your name to the Chapter list. Please place a check mark next to your name for
each month you are present at the meetings.
Publicity, Mike Salemi. Contact Mike to place an advertisement in the newsletter. Happy Birthday to Mike!
Sergeant at Arms, Brian Estes. Nothing to report.
Road Captain, Ed James. Remember we ride in a stagger group format. Members should ride at a comfortable speed but
try to stay up with the person in front of you. Be safe. Remember if you are not a member of the Local HOG Chapter, you must sign a waiver before each ride to participate in the HOG Chapter riding event.
Historian, Lynda Bridges. To enter this year’s photo contest, contact Lynda. Happy Birthday to Linda!
Charity Fund, Debbie Blankenhorn. 50/50 winner for $243 went to Bryan Boelke. Matthew Benn, Brett Kelly and Tom
Stephenson won a gift card from the dealership.
Awards Chairperson, Denise Bern. See Denise if you want to sign up for the mileage program. Highest number of miles
in a year wins a rear tire.
Ladies of Harley, Amy Brockelman. Amy was absent, but emailed the following: Our first LOH ride was great! I am
planning another Ladies of Harley ride on Sunday, July 8 to Brownsburg. I am trying to get reservations at an Italian
place and if everyone could call me (773-0616 or 748-2710) or email me (albrockelman@hotmail.com or indyloh@
hotmail.com) to let me know if they are interested, that would be awesome. More information to follow at the July
meeting.

Safety Director, Ted Rossell. Take caution on rides and remember everyone has different skill levels.
Activities Chairperson, Charlie Burke. Check the schedule, as there have been some changes in the ride schedule. 37 motorcycles with 55 people in attendance went on the chapter ride to Lafayette, IN, following the meeting. Make sure
your gas tanks are full prior to a ride. Also if you have CB radio, we monitor channel 4.
Ken White has planned a Catfish Caper ride this year. The Catfish Caper will be July 14-15. 25 hotel rooms have
been reserved. For additional information or to sign up, contact Ken White.
Newsletter, Sherri Hammer. Please send any articles to Sherrie by Monday, June 4.
Dealership News

INDIANAPOLIS CHAPTER # 1 CHAPTER PHOTO Thanks to everyone who was able to make the June H.O.G. chapter meeting and the group picture. It was certainly a
show of force! It also turned out to be a great day for pictures and for riding. A special 'Thank You' goes out to Sherri
and Russ for doing a great job organizing parking and the numerous other activities going on at the dealership at the
same time.
Chris Womock is our photographer for the chapter photo and has done a great job. He has enhanced the group photo to
include the chapter name and the H.O.G. logo making for a very nice presentation. Chris has posted the chapter photo
on his website where you can view a demo and purchase a print. Chris’s website is:
http://www.chriswomockphotography.com/
Once you are there, click on ‘STORE.’ Look for ‘Category’ in the upper left hand corner and select HOG Chapter #1.
Chris has made the picture available in three sizes. The size of the group drove the need to make this a panoramic shot,
as such, I recommend considering the larger two formats for better detail. All pictures are available in Glossy or Matte
prints at no extra charge. Metallic or Pebble finishes are extra. Larger sizes are available as well; you can contact Chris
directly through his website for these options.
Please note that you may need to disable your pop-up blockers while visiting Chris’s website.
Thanks again to everyone who participated in this chapter event!

HISTORIAN NOTES
Welcome to some of our newest members at this months meeting: Mark McCoy; Dena Holland; Justin Anderson; Steve Shafer; Lynn Shaffer; and our youngest member Ben Rossell, grandson of Safety Director, Ted
Rossell!
Thanks again to Ken White for organizing our Chapter Group Photo, which was taken at the June meeting.
This was a very special historical event for our chapter.
Regina Sevenish was awarded her photo plaque for the “ Harley’s and
Family” category from the ‘06 Photo Contest. Regina posed with her 10
dogs (all in riding gear) on her 2000 Fat Boy trike. She labeled her winning photo “A HOG with a Load of Dawgs Dressed to Ride”.
More chapter history was made at the June meeting. Ben Rossell joined
the chapter, his granddad, Ted Rossell, is our Safety Director. Ben is the
youngest chapter member of the Indianapolis Chapter #1.
Help capture our chapter’s history with your photos and articles of the
years events and activities. We are looking for volunteers to write a few
lines about their event/trip experiences. IN addition to tenjoying reading
about trips in common, your fellow chapter members are also interested
in reading about rides/events that they were unable to attend.
Remember the 2007 Photo Contest. For more information see page 6.

CATFISH CAPER 14‐15 July 2007 To date, almost 80 bikers have signed up for this year’s ride and there is still room for more!
The Catfish Caper lends itself as a day ride or an overnight event. Each day will cover approximately 350 miles of Indiana and Illinois countryside and beyond. We will depart the dealership at 9:00AM Saturday morning with full tanks. Lunch will be between
12:30 and 1:00 at the Silver Moon in West Union, Il. A short jaunt on some of the original Abraham Lincoln Trail will bring us to
our annual dessert stop.
The destination hotel for the Catfish Caper is Casino Aztar. You can book your room under the block name of ‘Indianapolis H.O.G.
Chapter #1’ for $129 per night by calling 800-544-0120. The deadline for this block of rooms is June 18th. Some members in the
group are staying with friends and family in the area and some are staying at other local hotels. Last week I noticed that hotels in the
area are beginning to fill up for this weekend; so don’t delay booking your room.
On Sunday morning at 9:00AM EDT, we will leave the Casino and rally at a designated point nearby, most likely, a gas station
where we can take on fuel for the day’s ride. With the group reassembled, we will depart there at approximately 9:15AM. Don’t
forget that Evansville is on Central Time. I will provide additional information on the rally point at the ride. The day will be spent
riding across southern Indiana with plenty of stops for breaks and lunch.
All chapter members and their guests are welcome on this ride and it is suitable for most skill levels. Sunday’s ride will include
many hills, valleys, and turns on rural roads. It will be mid-July and will be hot and humid. The Catfish Caper is not an “Iron Butt”
ride. It is meant to be a relaxing country cruise punctuated with food and fun. For new bikers or those just new to the group, if you
have wanted to try an overnight ride or a day-ride with a group, the Catfish Caper is an ideal event.
Feel free to call me if you have questions or just want to chat about it, or, drop me an e-mail. I can be reached at the following:
Home #: 317-877-2195; Cell#: 317-445-7705; e-ail: Kaynan@aol.com
I look forward to seeing you on the ride, Ken L. White!
