Independence Day Family Camp - 2015 - Welcome Hours Welcome to Cascades! We pray that this will be a great experience for you and your family! We are excited to welcome Christian comedian, Taylor Mason with us to lead some family-friendly morning gatherings. We are also happy to welcome Rev. Mark Novak, Executive Minister of Ordered Ministry for the Evangelical Covenant Church, back to Cascades as he shares messages with us for our evening and Sunday morning sessions. McMinnville Covenant Church will be leading us in Spiritfilled worship, too. The activities and services are provided by Cascades’ summer staff who come to camp from all over the country to spend their summer serving God in this ministry. (Beyond diapers) in Lakeside Lodge 4yrs - K Meets on the West Lawn 1st-3rd PM Session ONLY: Meets at the Timber Rock Rec. Hall 4th-6th PM Session ONLY: Meets at Brightwood Station 7th-9th PM Session ONLY: Meets at Timberidge High School Meet at the flag pole after evening meetings (Weds-Fri) Nursery and 2’s & 3’s can be dropped off at the start of the service and can stay until 12pm. All other children are dismissed just prior to the message and will return at the close of the session. Please pick them up at the session’s end. 2 Important Info Safety Rules • For your safety, please respect and listen to Cascades staff operating games and activities. • NO FIRES, fireworks, firearms, open flames, or alcohol please. • Bike only on the roads - no bikes on trails. Wear helmets. • Speed limit: 15mph or slower (horses, bikes, and kids on road). • Pets must be kept on a leash, quiet, and may not enter any buildings. Please clean up after your furry friends. • Hiking to Fossil Rock is restricted. Please do not hike to Fossil Rock. • Swim ONLY when lifeguards are on-duty (10:30am-12pm, 1-5pm) • Boats children under 13 years MUST be accompanied by an adult ALL boaters must wear life jackets. • Quiet hours are 10pm-7am • In case of Emergency, call 911 and alert Cascades Staff Dining and Meals • Please no food or beverage inside Rainier Center or Summit Chapel (covered beverages are okay. Please let us know if you spill.) • Meal plan participants will be asked to show wristbands for entry to the dining room for all meals. • All registered guests are welcome at the Thursday Beef BBQ and the Sunday Salmon BBQ, please wear wrist bands. • Sign up for Sunday’s Paradise Point Pancake Cookout at the Canteen starting Saturday after the morning session. (Those not on the meal plan can purchase tickets as space allows.) • Additional meal tickets can be purchased for day guests and non- meal plan guest at the Canteen, as space allows. • Please have any additional day guests register at the canteen and pay the $11 single day program fee. 3 Activities Ranch Information • Sign-ups by the Canteen at 8:45am • Meet at Sunrise Ranch for all trail rides and pony rides • Trail Rides (10 years & older) 10:30am, 1pm, 2:30pm & 4pm • Extended Trail Ride (15 years & older) 2:30pm-4:30pm • Pony Rides (kids under 10 years) 10:45-11:45am, 1:30-2:30pm No sign-ups necessary Extreme Activities • • • • • • • • • Sign-up for activities at the canteen, beginning at 10:30am. Paintball: Available each day at 10:30am. $15 per person. Meet at the Ball Field. Must be 13+ years to play. Climbing Tower: Open daily from 1-2pm. No sign-ups required. Climbers must fit harness (roughly 5+ years) Water Slide: Open daily from 3-5pm. No sign-ups required. “High Adrenaline” Zip Lines: Available each day at 1, 2, and 3pm. Must weigh between 85-250lbs. Tandem available children 5+ can ride with parent/guardian over 18 years Rubicon Northwest: Available each day at 3pm. $5 per driver, passengers ride free. Drivers must be 13+ years. Rockets: $13 each. Construction on the East Lawn 10:30am- 12pm, 1-2:15pm on Thurs/Fri. Rockets will be launched at 2:30pm on Friday at the Ball Field. Pinecars: $13 each. Construction on the East Lawn 10:30am- 12pm, 1-2:15pm on Thurs/Fri/Sat. Races will be at 2:30pm on Saturday by Rainier/Summit. All pinecars/rockets must be purchased/made at Cascades this year. 4 Activities Cont. Family Options (Thurs-Sat 10:30-12:00pm) • Nursery and 2’s & 3’s - Childcare is provided until 12pm • Painting and Crafts - Paint by number watercolor painting, button bracelets, bead animals, mask making, etc. • Pinecar/Rocket Construction - Purchase at the Canteen, construct on the East Lawn. • Archery - Meet at the Nisqually flagpole by 10:45am or meet the Cascades staff at the Archery Range around 11:00am • Family Contests - On the East Lawn: Thursday-Paper Airplane Contest, Friday-Tag-a-thon, and Saturday-Sprinkler Soccer • Water Games - On the West Lawn for 6 and under, and 7+ years • Paintball - See “Extreme Activities” on page 4 for details • Waterfront - Enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, etc. at Elbow Lake • ‘Fourth Quarter: Vocation and Work Later in Life’ seminar in Summit Chapel Child Drop-Off Activity Info Back by popular demand, we have some time each day where parents are welcome to drop off their children (ages 4 years through 9th grade) at the designated locations and our staff members will entertain them! • Thursday (4pm-5pm) - Bingo on the back patio of Nisqually • Friday (4pm-5pm) - Breakdancing lesson at Brightwood • Saturday (4pm-5pm) - Theatre sports games at Brightwood Please pick up your children promptly at the end of the allotted time.
