RACE WEEKEND AT A GLANCE JUNE 3-4, 2016: HEALTH & FITNESS EXPO San Diego Convention Center, Halls D & F, 111 W. Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101 Friday, June 3: 11:00am - 7:00pm Saturday, June 4: 9:00am - 5:00pm TIP: Print out and sign your Confirmation Sheet before coming to the Expo. You MUST pick up YOUR OWN bib number at the Expo prior to the race! JUNE 5, 2016: HALF MARATHON RACE DAY START LINE: 6th Ave & Quince at Balboa Park 6:15AM: Race starts TIP: We will be utilizing a wave start. This will enable a comfortable starting position for runners and walkers of all paces for both the marathon and half marathon distances. When the horn blows, the first corral will be released and the rest of the participants will be held at the start line. Corrals are released every 1-2 minutes. Your official time begins as you cross the start line and stops when you cross the finish line. Please note: The Start Line is located in a residential neighborhood surrounding Balboa Park. Please respect our neighbors! HEALTH & FITNESS EXPO Pick up your bib number, timing tag, gear check bag and Brooks tech tee at the Expo. Official race merchandise is available at the Merchandise Store and a variety of exhibitors will display, sample and sell running apparel, footwear, and health & fitness products. BIB NUMBER PICKUP Follow these steps to pick up your number at the Expo: 1. Print out & sign your Confirmation Sheet at home 2. Bring your Confirmation Sheet & Photo I.D. to Expo YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR OWN BIB NUMBER AT THE EXPO PRIOR TO THE RACE. NO EXCEPTIONS. CORRAL CHANGES If you need to move to a faster corral, pick up your bib number and proceed to the ‘Corral Changes’ table in the Check-In area. If you wish to move back to a slower corral, you may do so without visiting the Corral Change table by simply starting in that corral on race morning. There are no corral changes on race day. PACE TEAM Our friends at the San Diego Track Club will provide the Official Pace Team for race day. Experienced pacers will help you reach the finish line at your goal time. Visit the Pace Team booth (LIME GREEN BALLOON) at the Health and Fitness Expo to join. Pace groups for the Half Marathon are offered in the following times: 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45, 3:00. REGISTER FOR 2017 The Health & Fitness Expo is the best place for you to sign up for the upcoming Rock 'n' Roll Series races. At the expo, come by the Rock' n' Roll booth and secure your spot for the 2017 Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon & 1/2 Marathon and receive a FREE tee while supplies last! There will be limited availability at these special prices: Marathon: $59, 1/2 Marathon: $50, 5K: $35. RACE DAY UPS GEAR CHECK Gear check will be available at the Start Line Festival at the UPS Trucks on Balboa Drive. On race day, please to affix your gear check tag (on your bib number) to your gear bag before you leave it at the UPS truck assigned to your last name. DO NOT leave valuables, cash or jewelry in your bag. Please note, due to heightened security of the Gear Check trucks, there may be lines. UPS Trucks will be driven to the finish line area for pickup after the race. UPS Gear Check is located in Balboa Park, near 6th Ave & Quince and will be open from 4:30 am until 6:30 am. After the race, please retrieve your bag at the UPS Gear Check pickup located at Waterfront Park. Gear Check location closes at 2:30pm. See the venue map here. START CORRALS You are assigned a bib number and corral based on your projected finish time – the faster your time, the closer your corral will be to the start line. If you believe you have been assigned the wrong corral, bring your race number to the Corral Change table at the Expo. SIGN UP FOR FREE RUNNER TRACKING Sign up for free Runner Tracking, compliments of Travelers. Sign up to track a runner or sign up to be tracked at RunnerTracking.com CHRONO TRACK TIMING ChronoTrack timing will be used with a disposable timing tag that will allow you to walk away from the finish without the need to have your tag collected. Prior to the race, you must remove the tag from your number and attach it to your shoe. Please watch the instructional video in the bib pickup area to learn how to attach the tag. You will not receive an official finish time or finisher certificate if you do not wear your tag on your shoe during the race. COURSE INFORMATION COURSE SUPPORT There will be 8 aid stations along the half marathon course. Medical Stations will be located at the Start, every other mile along the course, and at the Finish. Look for large tents and medical volunteers wearing RED t-shirts. In order to help our medical team help you, it is critical that you fill out the medical history information on the back of your race number. COURSE TIME LIMIT Course time limit is 4 hours for the half marathon. Time limit begins when the last scheduled corral crosses the start line. If at any time a participant drops behind the tail vehicle, the participant will be picked up in the tail vehicle and transported to the back of the pack to stay on-pace. SPECTATOR INFORMATION There is no designated spectator parking for race day. The Trolley is the best option for spectators on race day as it has stations close to both the Start Line and the Finish Line. Avoid the hassle on race day and prepurchase an All Day Pass for $6.00 at the Expo - cash only. Visit http://www.sdmts.com/inside-mts/newsevents for the race day trolley schedule. For spectator tips, please visit our website. FINISH LINE FESTIVAL Once you cross the finish line, you will enter the “Secure Zone” – a fenced off area for participants only. Here you will receive your finisher’s medal, and refreshments. After you exit the secure zone, proceed two blocks to the Finish Line Festival at Waterfront Park to celebrate your achievement, meet up with friends and family, have a beer and enjoy your headliner, Gavin DeGraw! The festival is free and open to the public. CELEBRATE WITH MICHELOB ULTRA Every finisher over age 21: Celebrate your accomplishment with one well-deserved complimentary Michelob ULTRA beer at the finish line. The Michelob ULTRA Beer Garden will be open from 7:30am to 2:30pm. Additional beers can be purchased. Important note: State law requires your photo ID to be checked on race day, even if you’re 99! Plan ahead and have your photo ID with you. CONCESSIONS & FOOD The Finish Line Festival offers local food and beverage trucks. Visit these local vendors on Ash St. before entering the park. Pre-packaged food items and race day essentials will also be available for purchase at our Rock ‘n’ Roll General Store. PICK UP YOUR REMIX CHALLENGE MEDAL If you are running the Saturday 5K and any distance on Sunday, pick up your additional Remix Challenge medal on Sunday, June 5 at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Series tent at the Finish Line Festival. You have to cross the finish line on Saturday and Sunday to receive your Remix Challenge medal. FAMILY REUNION After the race, reunite with family and friends in the Family Reunion area and relish in your post race accomplishment. With a large number of participants and thousands of excited spectators, it can be difficult to locate friends and family without a plan. It is highly recommended that you designate a meet up location for friends and family BEFORE the race. The Family Reunion area will have tall, clearly-marked signs by letter (A – Z) next to the beer garden and concert stage. Be sure to coordinate and plan to meet at a predetermined letter. LOST & FOUND AND INFORMATION BOOTHS The Information Booth at the start and finish serves as Lost & Found. Any valuable items NOT claimed at the finish by 2:30pm will be returned to the Competitor Group office in San Diego. To claim a lost item after the event, please call the office at (800) 311-1255. Rules, age group awards will be determined by chip time. PHOTOS & FINISHER CERTIFICATES All timed participants will be able to download their finisher certificate on the Results page of the race website within 5-7 days after the event.
