SUPER CARD FRAME
The Super Card frame is an innovation in card frames.
This is a 7” x 5” frame edged in natural-finish wood. A
playing card can visibly appear in the centre. One
second the screen is clear, the next there is a playing
card there! Or the card can appear slowly in a most
spooky manner. The frame is clear then the card visibly
begins to fade in - little by little until the whole card is
complete! It looks like some sort of magical television!
Please note that at no time is the frame covered by
hand or cloth and nothing is removed from the
apparatus to cause the startling slow or fast

WEIRDIE-BEARDIE
An old gag updated and routined by David Taylor. From
several jumbo cards, one is chosen, shuffled back and
after a few unsuccessful attempts to find it you quip:
“By the time I find your card, it’ll have whiskers on it!”
Yes, the chosen card is now sporting a long bushy
beard! You nearly didn’t find the card (a close shave!)
David has been performing this trick since the card had

ACES TRUMPS
Originally sold by Supreme Magic, this is an imported
version. Five jumbo cards are fanned out – ace thru five
of hearts. One card is reversed & one is removed from
the fan. Suddenly the remaining cards magically turn
backs uppermost. When the full faces are shown you
are holding the four aces. This is one of our favourite

Show three cards on both sides, two duplicates and an
odd card. The odd card is reversed and instantly
changes to match the others. You explain what
happened then go on to repeat this little miracle and
again the odd card changes to a duplicate! Do it again if

One snip does the trick! A card is freely chosen from
any deck. You fold a sheet of newspaper - and make
one snip with scissors. This is a great way to edit out
every lousy review of your shows! When opened, the
newspaper shows a giant replica of the chosen card.
There is no forcing involved and you can even borrow
the deck! You can begin by reading a few gag
advertisements from the paper and this can turn the

BLANKS FOR THE MEMORY (David Taylor)
David’s mind was far from blank when he created this
effect. From ten cards, one is chosen and remembered.
This card mysteriously rises up from the packet. You
explain that it rose because it has magically shed its ink
and become lighter than air. Now the spectator names
the card - then you are proven to be right when you
display the chosen card - now blank. For a final kicker,
so are all the other cards! Something a little different
so they are sure to remember it. The rising feature is

CARD ‘N CONFETTI CAPER (David Taylor)
This packs more wallop than a steel boxing glove! An
empty glass is filled with confetti and covered with an
empty square cardboard tube. A chosen card (no force)
is sealed in an envelope. You rip the envelope open
and out flutters confetti. Uncover the glass and the
card is there. There’s more - re-cover the glass, then
uncover and suddenly it is full of confetti again! (Glass
can be examined). Where’s the card then? Ribbon
spread the pack and the card is back, as the only faceup card. NO replacement cards are ever needed.

IT’S ON YOUR BACK (David Taylor version)
David liked this old trick so much that he improved it. A
spectator assists and calls ‘stop’ as you riffle through
the pack. This card is peeked at. Only the helper knows
the value of the card. Now you go through the pack
showing the helper the faces. The peeked-at card is the
only one to have vanished. So you both look for it – and
eventually it is found hanging on the spectator’s back!
This method for getting the card onto the helper’s back
is brilliant. You’ll kick yourself for not having thought of
it yourself. Definitely recommended.

ABOUT-FACE (Murray Craig)
You’ve heard of the “officers’ mess”? This Sergeant is
in a mess! Three blue backed cards represent soldiers.
The Drill Sergeant barks commands and they respond
by magically turning over on the command: “ABOUTFACE”. Talk about a barmy army! The Sergeant is
removed but magically returns. Finally all the cards
change from blue to red backs - with a twist! Attenshun! The cards would even pass a medical. NZ$17.50
LITTLE WONDER - A small envelope is examined. You show the faces of four
cards and any spectator simply thinks of any one. Nothing is written down. Place the four
cards in the envelope. Now you remove three without showing the faces. One card is left

You’ll love this, “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!” Nothing to do with
a certain pop group from the sixties but a simply FABulous trick using four cards. A spectator thinks of any
one, keeping it a secret. You remove one card from the
fan. WOW – it’s the mentally selected card! Another
spectator is shown the fan and names any card aloud.
This is the same card thought of by the first helper!
Then all four cards change to duplicates of the selected
card. This’ll knock their socks off!

COBRA CORD
A paper bag stands on your table and a card is chosen
from a pack. This is remembered & replaced, and the
pack is shuffled and placed inside the paper bag. You
introduce the cord and lower an end into the bag. Your
hands never enter the bag and yet, when the cord is
lifted out it is seen that the end has mysteriously
wrapped itself around the chosen card, hence the title
of the trick. Use your own cards.

BURN-OUT (David Taylor)
Any card is chosen, remembered and returned to the
pack. You mime removing, reversing and replacing it. A
spectator passes a lighter, candle or match under the
pack to apply heat. Now for three smashing climaxes.
Run through the pack and only one card is face up
(well, you invisibly reversed it didn’t you?) It is the
chosen one. It is also shown to have a burn hole
through the centre. Finally it has been a little
“overcooked” - being the only card in the pack with a
red back! No sleights or forcing. The pack has only one

JUMBO CONTRA-COLOUR CARDS (David Taylor)
Made in Jumbo Bicycle cards. You display two ‘blackpip’ cards (clubs or spades) on both sides together with
a short piece of red ribbon that is sandwiched between
the two cards. “Black cards, red ribbon!” you say. Now
the top card is turned over and the ribbon is now a
black one. Not only that – the two cards are now seen
to have red faces (hearts or diamonds). A novel and
interesting colour transfer.

PLINK
A penetration in which a plastic counter or chip passes
though a number of cards. The cards are placed across
the open mouth of a borrowed glass, totally blocking
this. A chip is shown and tapped on top of the cards.
Immediately the chip is heard (and seen) to fall into the
glass, having passed through the playing cards on
route. Looks really good. Simple method but still
clever enough to be a real fooler.

BAT-SPLAT (David Taylor)
A wooden bat in the shape of a Spade. Any card freely
named (no force) is located and initialed using a
removable adhesive spot. Helper pushes the card into
the pack and replaces pack in the case. Now you slap
the bat down on the closed case - SPLAT - turn the bat
over and the actual chosen and signed card is attached
to the underside. Comes complete with bat, cards and

STRANGER IN THE MIDST (David Taylor)
Pack is placed down on table. Any spectator names any
card in the pack. You take up the pack and run through
the cards. Only one card in the pack has a red back.
This is the named card! Dynamic to say the least.
Works with any named card. Only one pack used. For a
climax the chosen card can change into an entirely
different card. All the impact of the Brainwave Deck
but much easier to work.

FOUR-SEEN (David Taylor)
State that you are holding four aces. Anyone freely
names a suit and you then show the cards. Three are
blank-faced (each is whiter than a Salt Lake City shirt)
and when the top card is turned over it is the named
card! So - If the Ace of Clubs is called, this is the face
down card, the others being blank. There is no colour
elimination or turning the cards end for end etc. Only

JUMBO HI-RISE CARD (David Taylor)
A trouble-free and self-contained Rising Card, not
thread or finger operated. Show an envelope with cut
out front, and four jumbo cards (examined). One is
freely chosen (no force) and placed with the others
inside the envelope. In a few seconds the flap starts to
move - then opens fully as the chosen card slowly rises
up out of the envelope. The envelope may be torn up
or thrown to the audience!

SPOOKY CARDS
Two cards are shown front & back. Spectators may run
their fingertips over them to show they are normal.
Then one card spookily passes through the other. Again
cards are shown freely. That’s absolutely right - there
are definitely no holes through either card and yet one

ghost through a castle wall.

GHOST CARDS
Neat beginner item. A fan of five cards is shown and
any spectator is asked to mentally think of ANY THREE
cards. The cards are covered for a second with a paper
napkin or cloth. Two cards are taken out from under
the cloth. These are NOT chosen cards. Only now are
the chosen cards named. There are no other cards left.
THE THREE thought-of cards have vanished. An
incredibly clever idea. Works itself.

SAUCY HORSEY (adapted by David Taylor)
Easily carried and a sure-fire winner. A card is chosen
and remembered. You try to name it and fail. To aid
your ‘mental stimulation’ you show a colourful screenprinted board depicting part of the female anatomy.
After the initial laughs this card folds out and becomes
a long screen-printed horse and in its mouth is the card
... Oh no! They think they have caught you out but you
turn the tables at the end – the climax is too good to
give away here. The patter can be as ‘spicy’ as your

CARD UNDER GLASS (David Taylor’s version)
A clear plastic frame holds six cards with faces showing.
From six loose duplicates one is chosen. The frame is
covered and held by a spectator. The selected card
magically reverses itself in the pile. When the frame is
shown the duplicate of the very same card inside the
frame is now also reversed. The frame can be
examined. All cards are sealed inside since the edges of
the frame are tape-bound on all sides.

A Taylor notion. Drop a large envelope on the table. Six
miniature cards are shown face down. Any one is
freely selected (no force). A corner is clipped for later
identification and the card is cut in half diagonally. The
envelope is opened and in it is one jumbo card, also cut
in half diagonally. What a coincidence - the two cards
match. But wait! They suspect that all the miniature
cards are the same - they are, but of an entirely
different card to the one selected. Received an

and when your hand is lifted, all the cards remain

chooses one (no force) and while you look away the
helper cuts the pack several times and pockets the top
three cards. Now you turn back, take the pack you
were left with and also remove three cards. Despite
the odds, the cards match. Yes, you have each removed
the same three cards! No faked decks. You never ask
the helper any questions. No forcing of either pack –

MIRACLE MELT-THRU
Uses two blank-faced cards and an ordinary one. The
ordinary unprepared card visibly penetrates up
through the bottom blank one to position itself

CONFOOZING CARD
A jumbo card is shown to one half of your audience.
The same card is now shown to the other half of the
audience to also remember. Card is then placed in an
envelope with a cut out front. When asked to call out
the name of the card in unison, each half of the
audience NAMES A DIFFERENT CARD! Just what IS the
card, well – when removed it is a different card

MIRACLE CARD ACT
This is one of the BEST card tricks ever. A blue-backed
pack is shown & placed down. Now a spectator names
ANY card. No force. You show a red-backed pack and
spectators assist in looking through the pack for the
named card. The freely named card is simply not there.
Take up the blue-backed pack and in it is the chosen

PIG IN THE MIDDLE
Three cards are shown. The top and bottom cards are
duplicates while the one in the middle is an odd card or
“pig in the middle”. “This middle card has a tendency
to do an about-face,” you say. The cards are squared
and turned face down. When spread again, sure
enough, the middle card has turned and it is now face
up between the other two. The full faces of all three
cards are shown, as well as the backs. Self-working.

HAUNTED DECK (Beginner version)
This is still a popular trick with all age groups. From a
fanned deck, three spectators each choose any card
(no forcing) and each card is remembered then slipped
back into the squared deck. Now, the deck held on
your flat palm, suddenly takes on a life of its own,

three cards are seen to be protruding from the deck.

EYE-POPPER CARD TRICK
Show ten cards - nine similar (all blacks or all reds) and
the last an entirely different card. Put this different
card in the middle of the pile, and it is suddenly on the
top of the pile. Repeat it. Then it is placed on the
bottom of the pile but still appears at the top. Put it in
your top pocket and suddenly changes places with one
of the other cards. No specially printed cards or sleight
of hand.

WIZARD’S PACK

Solly hangs on a cord. From a set of unprepared cards
one is freely chosen. Held over the face down cards
one at a time, ol’ Solly starts a circular motion when
held over one card only – the selected one. He can
locate a ‘dead’ name from amongst living ones and in a
final routine he appears to have selected the wrong
card – but he proves to be right in the end. You get the

Neat beginner item. Any card from any pack is covered
with a handkerchief and held over a glass of water.
Spectator may push the card into the glass. On
removing the handkerchief, the water is totally clear
and it seems that the card must have magically

down and any spectator hands you any four pieces

clip. This is thrown to a spectator and it is found that
