An International THANK YOU to
our Apollo Families
Thank you for making our very first International Night a complete success! There
were many incredible moments throughout this night that made us feel proud and
honored to work with such a wonderful
and diverse community. It was exciting to
see many students and families dressed in their beautiful traditional clothing. Students and families enjoyed learning different dances from around
the world and creating cultural art pieces.
We thank the students who took the time to write poems with the help of their
teachers and the talented poet and performer Bill Buczinsky. These students were
able to share their outstanding poetry with their families and friends in the Galaxy.
Furthermore, we appreciate all of the families that dedicated the time to donate
such delicious meals to share with our Apollo Family. We were all thrilled to have
the opportunity to taste and learn about the diverse foods that you shared. Overall, we are fortunate to have had such a great experience during our very first International Night and we can’t wait for the next one!

A Note From the
Assistant Principal
Friday, May 20 is an early release day
for our students.
Dear Apollo Families,
When I began to write this
note to you it occurred to
me that this will be my last one to the Apollo
community. As many of you know, I will be
leaving Apollo at the end of this school year.
The D63 Board of Education has recently appointed me as the new principal of Mark Twain
starting July 1st. I am very excited about this
new opportunity, however, I must say that it is
bittersweet.
This year at Apollo has been nothing short of
amazing. Having been new to both Apollo and
D63, I was unsure of what to expect when I
first started back last year. However, I can
honestly tell you now that any expectations I
did have were well exceeded. This school district and Apollo School are both wonderful
places to come to work every day. The diverse
population that makes up Apollo is very special
and has been one of the best perks to this job.
The other great perk has been the opportunity
to work together with so many kind, intelligent,
and dedicated individuals who spend every day
making it their mission to be the best they can
be for the students of Apollo.
I will always be grateful for the opportunity to
have been a part of this incredible community
and for the honor to serve each of you every
day. Even though I am leaving, I take comfort in
knowing that I will always be at heart, a BULLDOG FOR LIFE! Thank you for a year full of
wonderful experiences and memories.
Many thanks,
Mr. Roberts

Riding in Style
Fourth grade students celebrated National Bike to school day
by participating in the Active Transportation Alliance of Chicago "Kids on Wheels Program". Students learned about bike
safety and why it is important to wear a bike helmet every time
you ride a bike. Thanks to Mrs. Kosiba for bringing this program to Apollo.
Let’s Finish Strong
Our Finish Line Fridays are winding down. We only have three
more Fridays left to walk this school year. Currently, Ms.
Palucki's class has dominated our Finish Line Fridays by having
the most students in their class walk on Friday mornings. Can
any other class beat them???

A Note From the
Assistant Principal
Muchas gracias,
Mr. Roberts
