Winter 2015 PAT SENG | VP/GM NLOP From the GM Winter greetings from all of us at Cushman & Wakefield | NorthMarq. What’s Trending for the Year 2015? It’s that time again, when we turn the page on last year’s calendar and hit “refresh” to begin a new year. For months, forecasters, prognosticators and soothsayers have speculated, talked about and published what trends we should expect to see in 2015. Home I’m sure many of you know that Normandale Lake Office Park was purchased in the fall by a major institutional investor. The sale was big news in the commercial real estate industry and made quite a splash in the media because it is seen as the most sought after property this side of Chicago. When it was offered for sale, NLOP had many, many suitors but of course only one winner. We should all be proud of that fact. The new owners are very experienced investors familiar with purchasing A+ properties and whose highest priority is to maintain the office park’s current class and status. That’s why we are also thrilled to announce that they have made the decision to retain Cushman & Wakefield | NorthMarq as property managers. Our pledge to you in 2015 and beyond is to continue operations in such a way that has helped us earn a reputation as the premier office complex in the Twin Cities. n Fitness -Mix styles, colors and textures -High Intensity Interval Training -Furniture & accents 1950s /1970s -Gold fixtures -Specially designed recovery programs -Cowhide blankets, rugs, pillows -Techno tracking devices -Marsala is Pantone’s new “color of the year” -Web-based fitness challenges -Fitness programs for kids -Indigo blue and deep navy Source: Huffington Post Healthy Living Source: Business Insider Business -Sales reps will become subject-matter experts -Roleplaying to reinforce sales concepts -Avoiding opportunities that aren’t the right fit -Improved employee work/life balance -Inviting all employees to contribute to sales Source: Forbes Food -Presentation is everything -Shorter menus, smaller dining rooms, reduced staff -Fresh concepts in fast foods -A growing taste for Asian foods -Everything bitter from coffees to chocolates to hoppier beers Source: Expedia and Entrepreneur Travel -Lower air prices to North America and Europe -More will fly first class because of the perks -Private jets for business travelers -Millennial-friendly hotels Source: Expedia and Entrepreneur Trends...continued on page 2 A Newsletter for the Normandale Lake Office Park Community 8000 8200 8300 8400 8500 Thank You For Making Our Holiday Event So Special on December 17th Welcome Jeff Bast This fall, Jeff Bast joined the Engineering Team here at Normandale Lake Office Park. Dedicated to personal fitness, Jeff works out three to four times a week and especially likes to go biking. “I am excited to be here,” says Jeff. “I work with a great group of people who have been welcoming, helpful and supportive since the day I started. I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to work at a premiere facility like Normandale Lake Office Park.” n “Piano is my passion, my career, my life.” – Marlene Adams Marlene greets us with her piano music twice each week here at the office park. She showed an interest in playing piano at a very early age, trying to pick out songs by ear. She began lessons at age seven, playing throughout her childhood and into adulthood when she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education with Performing Majors in Piano and Organ. Marlene’s parents fully supported and encouraged her interest in music and in high school, she dreamed of some day owning a piano studio, where she could instill her love of music in others. Today she runs a private studio in her home, teaching 60 students a week. She’s been playing at Normandale Lake Office Park for more than six years and looks forward to every opportunity. “It’s a special privilege sharing my music with others as they come in to work each morning,” says Marlene. “Hopefully it speaks to them somehow, because I believe music plays a unique and important role in everyone’s life.” n Trends...continued Housing Fashion More Housing -Open floor plans are the norm -Gingham-checked fabrics -Quartzite competes with granite -Freestyle tubs, single sinks and open bathrooms -Back to the ‘70s -Unusual animal prints -Porcelain floors replace imitation wood -DIY security systems -Multiple master bedrooms for multiple generations Source: Realtor Magazine -Pastel colored suedes -White cabinetry/bolder hardware -Off the shoulder designs -Filtered air and healthier lighting -Bold stripes -Specialized storage -Safari khakis -Water conservation Source: PopSugar.com Source: Realtor Magazine The property is leased and managed by Cushman & Wakefield | NorthMarq. Normandale Lake Office Park Parking Ramp Policies Visitor Parking/2-hour limits: Please explain to your visitors that they must adhere to our 2-hour parking limit or relocate their vehicle if their stay is extended. If you know in advance that their visit will be longer than two hours, ask them to park in the regular “unmarked” spaces. Visitor parking is for visitors ONLY, not tenants. Handicap Parking: These designated spaces are only available to vehicles appropriately identified. We have begun a more stringent patrol system to find offenders of this and over-the-limit parking and will have vehicles towed if necessary. Winter Parking: For added safety and the ease of snow removal, the top parking decks of all five towers will be closed for the winter, so please do not attempt to drive around the barriers. There is ample parking space on all ramp levels and elevators are conveniently located on each floor. Extended Parking: If you plan to leave your vehicle overnight in one of the ramps please complete an Extended Parking Form which can be found at normandale.com, click on Tenant Services which will bring up the Tenant Toolkit box. You will find the form under Frequently Used Forms. Respect for Others: Please drive slowly through the parking ramps. It’s harder to see pedestrians if you’re moving too fast. And please park within the lines. n A Polite Reminder… Voices are amplified in our hallways and common areas. Please be respectful of other tenants when you are using your cell phone or visiting. Speakerphones are not allowed in the Park’s public areas. Please be courteous. n with marinara THURSDAY GNOCCHI with fennel Sausage and tomato vodka FRIDAY PENNE ALFREDO with Chicken and spinach Order in advance - Curbside service in driving circle of the 8200 tower.
