Pre-registration and supplying your own materials is required unless otherwise stated. Please note that full payment must be received at the time of registration. They must be within arm’s reach of a parent or guardian, 16 years of age or older, at all times. Ratio of children 6 years or under to parent or guardian must be no greater than 3 to 1. Children who are not yet toilet trained are required to wear either a pool diaper or cloth diaper and plastic pants. MEMBERSHIP CARDS Toonie swim schedule Everyone who has purchased any of our membership pass options to the Trail Aquatic and Leisure Centre has received a photo ID card. This ID card permits you entry into the facility. All participants who have a membership card are required to scan this card each time they utilize the facility. Please note that if you forget your card, regular admission rates will apply. We hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy our toonie swims. Here is our rotating schedule! TOURISTS With valid identification, anyone who lives outside of the Greater Trail Area is eligible for the TRP (Trail Resident Program) rates on drop-in admissions and 10x or 20x passes to the Trail Aquatic and Leisure Centre. ATTENTION! Youth Weight Room Users All youth who are 13 & 14 years of age are required to attend a fitness centre orientation session and have a consent form signed by their parent in order to use the fitness centre. Pass holders must scan their membership card or pay a drop-in fee to utilize the facility. All users of the Fitness Centre are required to abide by the facility’s “Shoe Policy” in that a clean pair of indoor shoes are required and must be shown to the Cashier to use the facility. $11.00 fee is charged for membership replacement cards. AUGUST ‘Aquatic Bonanza Day’ 8 Friday August 12, 4:00-6:00pm It’s our last day of operation until September 8. Come and join us for a few hours of crazy fun, games and laughs. There will be an ice cream eating contest, face painting, relay races and more! There is even going to be bubbles in our hot tub! Come for your last swim before we close for a month. Swimming LESSON REGISTRATION Participants are encouraged to register more than one week prior to the start date. Lessons will be cancelled where there is insufficient registration. We try our best to accommodate the demand for lessons and we will create more classes if the waiting lists are full. Swimming Lessons For a lifetime of healthy and safe fun around the water! Ages 5 - 12 years ‘With My Parent’ Ages 4 mths - 36 mths 1. STARFISH (4 to 12 months) Orientation to water for babies and parents. The goals are to help babies experience buoyancy and movement through songs and play in the water. 2. DUCK (12 TO 24 MONTHS) Orientation to water for babies and parents. The goals are to help babies experience buoyancy and movement through songs and play in the water. 2. SEA TURTLE (24 TO 36 MONTHS) Swimmers learn, through fun games and songs, how to combine skills, how to kick with a buoyant object and how to perform basic floats, glides, and kick. ‘On My Own’ Ages 3 - 5 years UNPARENTED 4. SEA OTTER Swimmers enter this level when they are 3 years old. Using games and activities, swimmers learn to open their eyes under water and further develop basic floats and glides, and swim 1 meter. 5. SALAMANDER Once successfully completed Sea Otter, swimmers learn to swim 2 meters, further develop basic floats and increase their distance on front and back glide. Learn appropriate water safety skills. 6. SUNFISH Swimmers learn to swim 5 meters, increase their front and back glide with kick, develop their rollover glide. Safety skills include deep-water skills and use of a PFD. 7. CROCODILE Swimmers learn to swim 5 meters on their front and back, perform dolphin kick and begin using rhythmic breathing. Safety skills include jumping into deep-water and performing surface support for 10 seconds. 8. WHALE Swimmers perform a front and back swim for 10 meters. Safety skills include identifying safe swimming areas, jumping into deep water, swimming 5 meters, surface support for 20 seconds. Swim Kids - Levels 1- 4 Red Cross Swim Kids Level 1 Swimmers receive orientation to water and pool area and work on floats, glides and kicks. Build their endurance by working on the 5m front swim. Red Cross Swim Kids Level 2 Swimmers work on propulsion skills to move through the water and to remain at the surface. Work on front swim (5m) and learn about deep-water activities and PFD. 10m flutter kick and 10m distance swim. Red Cross Swim Kids Level 3 Introduction to diving and teaches swimmers how to make wise choices where and when to swim. Endurance is achieved in flutter kick and a 15m swim. Red Cross Swim Kids Level 4 This level introduces the front crawl (10m) and back swim (15m) kneeling dives, support surface (45sec), develop greater sense of self safety. Endurance built through 25m swim. Swim Kids - Levels 5 - 6 Red Cross Swim Kids Level 5 Introduces back crawl (15m), sculling skills, whip kick on back, stride dives and treading water. Endurance developed through 50m swim. Red Cross Swim Kids Level 6 Front crawl focus on hand entry and breathing (25m), back crawl focus on arm position, elementary backstroke, safety on ice and rescue of others with throwing assistance. Swim Kids - Levels 7- 10 Red Cross Swim Kids Level 7 Builds skills and endurance for the front crawl (50m), back crawl (50m), elementary back stroke (25m), whip kick introduced on the front. Swimmers learn airway and breathing obstructions. Endurance swim 150m. Red Cross Swim Kids Level 8 Introduction to Breast stroke (15m) and feet-first surface dives. Learn about the dangers of open water, hypothermia, & rescue breathing. Use eggbeater skill for 3 minutes. Endurance is built on a 300m swim. Red Cross Swim Kids Level 9 Refines the front crawl (100m), back crawl (100m) elementary back stroke (50m) and breast stroke (25m). Head first surface dives. Endurance swim (400m). Red Cross Swim Kids Level 10 Final assessment of strokes for technique and distance. Learn about sun safety, rescue of others from ice and head first and feet first surface dives. All programs and services are open to everyone; however, without a TRP card full rates will apply. Permanent residents of Trail, Warfield and the Beaver Valley can receive a TRP at no charge. Simply complete the required application and bring in two pieces of the noted documentation and cards will be issued. Non-residents can purchase a resident card if desired. Tourists, (people living outside of the Greater Trail area), are eligible for the TRP rate on Drop-In admissions with valid identification.
