The land spans over 40,000 acres in the foothills of the Scottish Highlands and encompasses farmland, bracken-clad hillside, peatland, wooded glens and river valleys as well as several of the jewel-like islands scattered on Loch Lomond. Other significant finds include mysterious ring shaped rock carvings, Bronze Age burial sites, and Iron Age forts. Wooded islets on Loch Lomond hold remains of crannogs, defensive lake dwellings constructed by the Picts. Tours can be concluded with a drinks reception in the Library of the Loch Lomond Arms, which features portraiture of notable Colquhoun clansmen. These lands have been the historic home of the Clan Colquhoun for over 600 years, and FabuLUSS Loch Lomond warmly welcomes all clansmen. A notable event in Scottish clan history is the bloody battle of Glen Fruin, between the Colquhouns and the MacGregors, after which the name of the later was banned by the King for over one hundred years.
