Lake Country School District 1800 Vettelson Road Hartland, WI 53029 Phone:(262) 367-3606 FAX:(262) 367-3205 September 14, 2016 PICTURE RETAKE DAY Picture retake day is scheduled for Friday 9/23. Any student who did not have their picture taken at registration OR is not satisfied with their original package can have pictures taken on September 23. If you are having your picture taken for the first time, please be sure to present your order form to the photographer. You can find your order form in the blue registration folder that you received previously. We have limited extras in the office. If you are having a retake, you MUST give the photographer your original photo package. Every student should be photographed whether or not they are purchasing a package so that they are included in the class composite and the yearbook. Students should present the order form to the photographer on Picture Day. DROP-OFF/PICK-UP Just a reminder – There should be no cars in the bus lanes (circle drive) until after buses leave at 8:00 in the morning and after 3:20 in the afternoon. If you are coming into the building to drop off or pick up, please park in the lot. And as always, please watch out for our children. There is no parking along the front curb at drop off or pick up times. See map attachment in this issue of the Clips. TARDY BELL Just a reminder that the tardy bell rings at 8:04 am so students should be in the classrooms by that time. If a student comes in after the bell rings they need to sign in in the office. Once a child reaches 4 unexcused tardies they will need to serve a detention. SIGN-IN/OUT All students that come and go during school hours for any reason, ie: appointments…, must sign in or out on the orange sheet in the school office and only enter and exit at the main doors. If you are just dropping off something for a student we prefer you to leave it in the office and we will call the student up between classes. We try to avoid classroom interuptions if at all possible. Thanks for your understanding. HEALTH ROOM IMMUNIZATIONS: LCS will be sending out letters required by the State of Wisconsin for all students with NO RECORD or BEHIND SCHEDULE with their immunizations. Please provide immunization records to the health room as quickly as possible. MEDICATIONS (Over the Counter): If you would like to have medication available to your child (Tylenol, ibuprofen, Benadryl, cough medicine, etc.), an Authorization for Medication would need to be completed and signed by a parent to legally dispense the medication to your child. This form can be found on the school website or school office. Medications should be turned into the health room in the original packaging with the signed authorization. Please call Julie Radtke, Health Room Assistant, 367-3606 ext. 129 if you have any questions. Thank you! This information is only available to LCS families and can only be accessed through your assigned login and password. If you notice your name is not listed and would like it to be, please contact Nancy Kuehl at extension 108, You have the option to view the list by primary guardian or by student. After making your choice, click on the “view” button on the right side of your screen. Once the list comes up, you can click on “view family” to get additional information. You can also use the blue “Show Advanced Filter Options” link under “View Families By” to sort by grade level. The homeroom number and advisor cells will not sort because of the way we setup our classes, but the grade level works nicely. To find a name, you can either scroll down the list or type in up to five letters of the person’s last name in the search box located in the lower right corner of your screen. If you have any questions, please call the school office. PTO NEWS Don’t forget to check the PTO’s newsletter in every issue of the Clips. It has a lot of fun and important information about what’s happening in the school. This issue includes Muffins With Mom, Culver’s Spirit Night, the Color Run (formerly known as the Fun Run!) and more. Friday December 2nd, 6:30 pm Saturday December 3rd, 6:30 pm Sunday December 4th , 2:00 pm EGGS! Our baby chicks we had in the office before Spring Break last school year are all grown up! We have three Barred Rock, five Rhode Island Reds, one Black Polish and one Silver Polish. They just started laying small pullet eggs in early August and the eggs are almost full size now. We will start an Egg Sign-Up in the office again next week. For those of you who are not familiar, we have a binder on the front counter where you can sign up to receive a dozen eggs for a small donation (typically $3.00). With only 10 chickens and over 300 families, the waiting list could be long! We do let our chicken’s free range for a bit during the day. This keeps them happy and healthy. They are very social (especially the Polish – they are the ones with the funny hairdos!) so feel free to go say hi. Wildcat Clips deadline: Friday, September 23rd, 2016. Visit the Lake Country School District web page – www.mylakecountryschool.org Lake Country Wildcats September 12, 2016 Dear Parents, During the 20162017 school year, Lake Country School District will continue to use Measures of Academic Progress™ (MAP) to assess student achievement in the areas of reading and mathematics. The purpose of this test is to glean additional information about what your child knows and is able to do in the areas of reading and mathematics. Student performance on the MAP reading and mathematics tests, along with their daily performance in the classroom, provides the basis for a teacher’s instructional decisions . In addition, the data helps measure each student’s academic growth in reading and mathematics throughout the school year, and from year to year. Beginning on Monday, September 19, through Friday, October 7, all students in grades 16, all RtI students (who are receiving academic intervention), and some special education students will participate in MAP testing. Since first grade students will already be assessed in reading using the new statemandated literacy screener (PALS), they will only participate in MAP math testing in the fall. In spring, all students in grades 16 will be assessed in reading and mathematics, as well as some 7th and 8th graders. Your child will take the MAP tests on a computer. MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to match your child’s level of learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. For more information, visit: h ttp://www.nwea.org/resourcesparentsandstudents Results from the Fall 2016 testing will be posted in Family Access under the “Report Card” tab once the testing window has closed and the data has been entered into Skyward. Paper copies of individual student progress reports will be available upon request. If you have questions, please contact your child’s classroom teacher or me. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Debbie Burich RTI coordinator MAP coordinator Arrowhead Grade School Cross Country Run Friday, September 23rd at Arrowhead High School Awards: Medals to the top 12 runners in each division - except the 5 & under ¼ mile run.
