In modular frame cases, intermediate columns are either C.H.S. sections, hot-rolled profiles, or built-up welded profiles. Frames are complemented by flange bracing, connection bolts and anchor bolts. Generally, the base of the intermediate frame is pinned. Certain circumstances demand a fixed base approach. • Steel qualities according to EN 10025, part 2 - built-up welded profiles: S355J2+N - hot-rolled profiles: S 235 or S 355 • Protection: - All profiles are shot blasted to SA 2.5 Endwall frames consist of either built-up welded, hot-rolled or cold-rolled columns which support a cold formed Z rafter. Frames are complemented by connection bolts, anchor bolts and wind bracing. • Protection: - Cold formed components are galvanised. - Built-up welded primary framing members or hot-rolled elements have the same protection as the intermediate frame. WIND BRACING Wind bracing provides the longitudinal stability of the building. It consists of cross bracing located in roof and sidewalls, in one or more bays depending on loadings and the length of the building. If it is not possible to have cross bracing in the sidewalls, it can be replaced by wind portal frames or by fixed base wind columns, located adjacent to and connected to the mainframe columns. CRANE BRACKETS Brackets support the crane beams and are fixed to the column flanges. CRANES Refer to the section dedicated to this product. MEZZANINE BEAMS Refer to the section dedicated to this product. - To afford protection during transportation and erection, all profiles receive a primer coat of 80 microns thickness, in either red, blue or grey colour. - Optionally, corrosion protection paint can be provided, with a thickness of 100 microns. 6 NB: For further technical information, refer to the "ASTRON PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS". SECONDARY FRAMING Secondary framing consists of the elements which support the roof and wall sheeting and which transfer loads to the primary framing. SECONDARY FRAMING CONSISTS OF: • Roof purlins • Wall girts • Framing BENEFITS: • Low transport space • Purlins used as cable trays • Systematically galvanised CHARACTERISTICS: • Steel quality: S 350 GD + Z 275 according to EN 10326 ROOF PURLINS Purlins are galvanised Z profiles, produced by cold roll forming. They are fixed to the rafters of the primary structure and due to the overlaps between the purlins on the rafters, act as continuous beams. Purlins Eave purlins can be C profiles or double Z profiles. Connections are made using galvanised bolts. WALL GIRTS Girts are galvanised Z profiles, produced by cold roll forming. There are two types of assembly: - either they are continuous beams with overlaps adjacent to the main frame columns, the connection being made using galvanised bolts directly into the column flanges. - or they can be simply supported between the columns, the connection being made using cleats and galvanised bolts into the column webs. Girts (Continuous beam) The two fixing systems are valid for sidewalls and endwalls. FRAMING Framing essentially consists of L, C or Z galvanised profiles, produced by cold roll forming. They are fixed through the interior PR panel onto the secondary framing with self-drilling screws. • galvanised support rails fixed to omega spacers with self-drilling screws. EXTERIOR PANEL Either PR or ASTROTEC type, characteristics are the same as PR/ ASTROTEC roof. ASTROTHERM INSULATION Thickness (mm) Um [W/(m2·K)] 100 (50+50) 0,38 120 (60+60) 0,32 200 (60+60+80) 0,19 Tape sealant to the side and endlaps of the interior panels provides a complete and effective vapour barrier. As a result, unfaced insulation of 100, 120 or 200 mm thickness, placed between the two skins, does not require stapling. Double skin roof achieves an excellent fire rating (A1 according to EN 13501-1) due to the absence of insulation facing and consequently adhesive. The double skin roof structure greatly reduces the risk of condensation as there are no cold bridges over the purlins. 12 PERFORATED INSIDE SHEETING: When improved acoustic properties are required, PR interior panel can be supplied in a perforated version (~25%), reference PG. For aesthetical reasons, a layer of black fibre glass felt is installed between the panel and the insulation. Insulation must have a bonded vapour-barrier in this case. ACCESSORIES: A broad range of integrated accessories, from the PR/ ASTROTEC range, ensures optimum weathertightness. NB: For further technical information, refer to the "ASTRON PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS" and the "ACCESSORIES" binder. 13 POLAR ROOF The POLAR roof is a complete roof system based on sandwich panels. This is particularly true in view of today’s land prices and availability. While they can be tailored to any BENEFITS: building, judicious planning of mezzanine requirements early in the • Single source supply for mezzanine and building • Integrated design of the mezzanine in the building conception of a new facility can • Increased usable space dramatically improve the • Reduced construction time: simultaneous erection of mezzacost/performance ratio of the nine and the building construction • Guaranteed quality by use of precast elements, in steel or in concrete. FOUR MEZZANINE SYSTEMS ARE AVAILABLE: For new technologies and fast track construction: - INODEK system - MONODEK system For in situ concrete solution: - MULTIDEK system - COMDEK system INODEK SYSTEM INODEK A floor beam system based on a steel frame which provides the full advantage of slim floor construction yet avoids the disadvantages of downstanding beams and higher weight: • pre-engineered and prefabricated elements • faster construction • spans up to 7,5 m • anti-fire protection easy to make, only the interior flange has to be protected • no downstand beams/ no service obstructions MONODEK SYSTEM MONODEK Beams are designed to accept traditional precast concrete panels. Precast concrete panels are laid down on beams generally in line with the axis of the building frames. By incorporating the beams into the building, this system offers significant advantages: • spans between 5 and 9 m • fast and easy erection 30 • the most advantageous price • optimum use of materials MULTIDEK SYSTEM Generally the concrete is cast on metal decking, which can be laid continuously, allowing design optimisation of sections to reduce weight and cost. All other types of flooring can be applied such as timber, chequer plate, etc... This system provides for following benefits: • spans up to 9 m • floor beam spacings are usually 3 m, from floor beam to floor beam • maximum flexibility for positioning and size of openings, even after completion of the mezzanine design and construction MULTIDEK COMDEK SYSTEM Main beams and precambered floor beams have shear studs provided on the upper flanges. This assures "composite" action between beam and concrete, for improved load bearing capacity and larger spans with low weight. A floor beam spacing of ± 2,5 m has been selected to minimise floor thickness, taking into account the characterists of both concrete and metal shuttering. High strength steel in combination with the concrete slab in the composite beam structure provides advantages: • depending on loading, wide spans up to 16 m mean fewer supporting columns to obstruct space below • high load capacity COMDEK Different formwork systems can be adopted such as metal decking, traditional concrete shuttering and precast concrete elements. As an option, ASTRON can provide metal shuttering and other types on special request. 31 MEZZANINES TYPICAL DETAILS Floor finish Column Screed 5 - 10 m Prestressed hollow-core concrete slabs INODEK beam max. 7,50 m INODEK Floor finish Column Screed Prestressed hollow-core MONODEK concrete slabs beam max. 9,00 m 5-12 m MONODEK max. 9,00 m Floor finish In situ concrete Floor beam 2,00-3,00 m Mainbeam Formwork max. 8,00 m Floor beam 2-3m MULTIDEK max. 16,00 m Floor finish ± 2,50 m Main beam In situ concrete ± 2,5 m COMDEK 32 Prefabricated concrete element, metal shuttering Floor beam Floor beam max. 7,50 m A SELECTION OF ASTRON’S 33,000 REFERENCE BUILDINGS: COMPANIES LOCATION UTILISATION SURFACE m2 ARBED BERTRAND FAURE BILLA BMW BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO BROWN BOVERI CATERPILLAR CELATOSE CHRYSLER COCA-COLA DANZAS DUPONT DE NEMOURS EKOLAND ELECTROLUX FASSON/AVERY FIRESTONE FTS GOODYEAR HÖRMANN IBM INTERBREW INTERMARCHÉ ISOVER JOHNSON CONTROLS KAWNEER/EURAMAX KLASCO KLEBER KRONOGROUP KRUPP LUXAIR/AIRCARGO LUXGUARD/GUARDIAN MAKRO MICHELIN MITSUBISHI NATO NEMIROFF OSRAM PARKER HANNIFIN PEUGEOT PHILIP MORRIS PHILIPS PILKINGTON RENAULT RWE SAMSUNG SCHWEPPES SHELL SNCF TONIC EMBALLAGE VOEST ALPINE ZANUSSI D, L E, F, GB, PL PL B, D, DK, F, L, N RO, UA CH B, E, NL D, E, F B RO E, F E, L PL F, H, L L E F F, L CN, F, GB, H, PL, RUS H B P, PL NL CZ F, GB, NL LV D, F D, F, L, P, PL, RUS D L D, E, L, PL PL E, F, P NL D, L, NL UA F CZ, D, F, PL, SK D, F H PL PL F D, DK CN, D SUD E, F, NL F DZ A F Production Manufacturing, warehouse, offices Supermarket Garages Manufacturing Warehouse Warehouse Manufacturing Distribution Manufacturing, offices Warehouse Manufacturing Production, shop Manufacturing, storage Manufacturing Manufacturing Production Warehouse Manufacturing Manufacturing Warehouse Supermarket Warehouse Distribution Manufacturing Warehouse Warehouse Manufacturing Manufacturing, warehouse, offices Warehouse Manufacturing Hypermarket Warehouse Distribution Warehouse Manufacturing Manufacturing, warehouse, offices Manufacturing Garage, office Warehouse Manufacturing Production Manufacturing, garage Warehouse Manufacturing, offices Manufacturing, warehouse, offices Warehouse Warehouse Manufacturing Manufacturing, warehouse, offices Warehouse 20000 80200 23600 18740 13000 31000 106600 41000 33000 24580 11500 21000 19400 25500 18000 13800 32700 32680 57000 73500 10800 17500 30000 10000 61000 8000 102000 250000 18000 57000 347000 67000 12000 10000 533000 15000 14000 33000 5300 6000 33300 22600 11700 26500 24700 10000 25000 12000 83000 13000 12500 33 Italy - Manufacturing Hungary - Factory Belgium - Production and warehouse Portugal - Supermarket Austria - Manufacturing and warehousing Luxembourg - Office and warehousing Germany - Offices United Kingdom - Office and manufacturing France - Manufacturing Poland - Office Norway - Skating rink Poland - Offices France - Garage Poland - Warehousing Germany - Warehousing U3 2006 printed December 2005 ASTRON BUILDINGS S.A.
