Its vibrant cosmopolitan population and economic importance make it one of the most dynamic cities on the Mediterranean. It offers a rich combination of culture, art and history, where the Gothic Quarter stands alongside the most contemporary art, architecture and design, all now open to the seafront. Barcelona is a centre of international cultural interest, housing amongst others, the Picasso and Miró museums and the fantastic buildings created by Gaudí. The bustling boulevard Les Rambles is the best place to sample the spirit of Barcelona, where numerous stands selling flowers, newspapers or birds and an abundance of cafes, terraces and street performers all blend into its unique atmosphere. Coupled with its exceptional climate and sandy beaches, all this makes Barcelona a magnetic tourist proposition all year round.
