Fest 2015
ALL HALLOWS INTERGALACTIC
FREAK SHOW!
W
hether this is your
first visit to Fantasy
Fest or your 36th,
we know you’ll find things new
and thrilling during 10 days that
are unlike any others all year.
Jump in and join thousands of
magical, haunted, interstellar freaks and have
an out-of-this-world experience. It’s always
thrilling – and inspiring for next year – to see
the truly innovative costumes, masks, parade
floats, entertainers and other forms of creativity
on display.
If you don’t already have a special costume
or two, you’ll find all sorts of options available
from our local merchants. And once you are
4
disguised to stand out or blend in with the
zany crowd, show off your new look at some
of the many costume contests going on during
Fantasy Fest. You could win fun prizes and
coveted bragging rights.
With 50 events including, but not limited
to Irish Kevin’s annual party celebrating the
80’s, a Star Wars-themed burlesque, a couple
of over-the-top pool parties, an indoor beach
party, the always popular Pet Masquerade,
several opportunities to show off your moves
under black lights, a Street Fair that ramps
up the excitement on Duval and a kids’
costume contest during Children’s Day, there is
something for everyone.
Highlights this year include the 33rd Annual
Headdress Ball, which is moving to a new
night (Thursday), a new, larger location at the
Truman Waterfront, and increasing its top prize
to $3,000. Always an impressive show, this year
the Headdress Ball promises to be one for the
record books.
Many Fantasy Fest events benefit local
nonprofits, offering truly unique ways to support
important community needs while having a
fabulous time. Consider checking out the Royal
Coronation Ball, which benefits AIDS Help, or one
of the other charitable and fun events happening
this year.
None of the parties – none of the fun – could
happen without the hard work of the island’s local
residents and businesses, the help and support
of our neighbors throughout the Florida Keys or
without the generosity of our fantastic sponsors.
Notice the Official Fantasy Fest Sponsor posters
hanging in local businesses and let them know
you’re having a good time and appreciate their
part in making Fantasy Fest happen.
We are grateful to all our
sponsors. Welcome to new sponsor
Fireball Whisky, the Official
Whiskey of Fantasy Fest 2015.
Welcome back to 3Wishes.com,
which is again this year’s parade
title sponsor, as well as to all our
loyal sponsors.
We are pleased to again be
joined by Official Fantasy Fest
sponsors such as Bud Light, Rex Goliath Wines,
Coca-Cola, and an impressive list of movers
and shakers. A special thanks to the people who
help us get the word out, including The Key West
Citizen, Floridakeys.com and Comcast, and to
The Monroe County Tourist Development Council,
which continues to be vital to the success of
Fantasy Fest.
Fantasy Fest would not be the outrageous, but
safe party it is without the hard work of our fire,
ROB O’NEAL/The Citizen
law enforcement and public works personnel. We
count on them to handle anything that 70,000
people and Mother Nature throws their way, and
they’ve never let us down. Thank them for the
work they do, and help them do their jobs by
complying with all of the Fantasy Fest rules and
regulations you will find in this guide.
Along with the amazing professionals,
including the crack team of aliens that staff
the Fantasy Fest office, Fantasy Fest depends
on a fantastic group of men and women
who volunteer their services for the good of
the party. Madness Monitors and Parade
Ambassadors will be along the parade route
and throughout the Street Fair and Promenade
to help keep everyone safe. Please heed their
advice and instructions.
It’s a big job to keep our little slice of paradise
clean. Please utilize the trash and recycling bins
you’ll find throughout the festival area.
We are very proud of our community and invite
you to make our home yours during the next 10
days. Please treat our hometown as you would
your own.
Party responsibly - be polite, have
patience, maintain your sense of humor and
obey all rules while exploring the unique
events we have to offer.
And, remember, nudity is not allowed! If
you utilize the skills of the world-class body
painting artists attending Fantasy Fest, make
sure the application is out of public view,
and you must cover up as you leave the
designated Fantasy Zone. We are the only
city in the world with an ordinance stating
specifically that paint is not considered
clothing; so please make sure all appropriate
areas are covered.
Enjoy all the events of Fantasy Fest 2015,
and take the time to check out our excellent
restaurants, bars, shops and attractions.
Plan to come back and see what we’ve
cooked up for 2016. Tell your friends you
had a spectacular time, but what else you tell
them or don’t is up to you.
— Linda O’Brien, director
Fantasy Fest is grateful for the support of sponsors, including Almond Tree Inn, Best Western
Hibiscus Motel, Boyd’s Key West Campground, Inc., The Citizen, KeysTix.com, Marrero’s Guest
Mansion, Pier House, Rex Goliath Wines, Rum Barrel, and Waterfront Playhouse.

in the Florida Keys since 1980, for one good reason…
They are part of the community. If it’s happening in the
Keys, you’ll hear about it on US-1 Radio. Bill Becker’s
Morning Magazine and Evening Edition with Ezra Marcus keep the Keys informed, and they
are your official Hurricane information station. Six days a week, they open the airwaves to
you with BIZ BAZ from 9-10:30 AM where Tiny and Leigha help you buy, sell and trade your
stuff. Great music, news and information is what you’ll find on The Official Station of The

PRIME STEAKHOUSE
Since opening in 2005, PRIME has quickly
become the premier steakhouse in the Florida Keys.
Impeccably prepared prime beef is the star at PRIME,
cooked to perfection in ovens nearing 1,000 degrees. However, there’s more to Prime
than just great steaks! Locally caught lobster tails, daily fresh fish specials from Key West
fishermen, a nightly pasta special, or a whole yellowtail snapper, deep fried and cleverly
seasoned are just a few of the treats that await the non-carnivores. Chef Kim Quach has
been pleasing palettes in the keys for over ten years and has brought his creativity and
passion to PRIME. Jumbo lump crab cakes, carpaccio of filet mignon, or garlicky escargot
are just a few starters that locals rave about. And don’t forget the Truffled Mac and Cheese,
PRIME’S signature side. Whether you prefer steaks or seafood, we’ve selected wines from
Italy, France and the USA, that will pair perfectly with your dinner. Dine on our terrace or
in our intimate dining room, either way you will enjoy a superior level of service that will
make your dinner at PRIME extraordinary!

banner that hung above Rex’s roost, and we proudly honor Rex
with premium varietal wines.

Fest Street Fair and Street Promenade.
FANTASY FEST STREET FAIR
The Fantasy Fest Street Fair is sure to quench
all of your appetites as it takes over Duval St. on
Friday, October 30. This annual event is never
the same year to year as food vendors, arts
and craftspeople and thirst-quenching libation
stations line Key West’s golden mile. See what
everyone else is doing and come strut your stuff
throughout the day and deep into the night during
this infamous street party.
The Street Fair runs from noon until 10 PM.
If you don’t yet have a costume or need one
more fabulous costume, you’ll have plenty of
options at the Street Fair, where vendors will be
lined up to sell you exotically expressive masks,
glittering face decorations and maybe even the
last few bells and whistles needed for the perfect
ringmaster’s ensemble.
There will be fabulous feathers, luxurious
leather and lace and everything in between. There
are even outfits for your favorite pet. The fair
boasts unique artisans from beautiful handmade
jewelry to fine art. Ask about having your new
treasures shipped home so that your hands stay
free for more shopping.
Just like a circus midway, food and drink will
be everywhere you look from conch salad and
crab cakes to jerk chicken and BBQ ribs along
with a hearty group of Greek and Latin purveyors.
Make sure you stroll the length of the street fair
and sample the old favorites along with some of
the delicious new delights.
Support our local charities and wet your
whistle at one of the five Libation Stations located
throughout the fair on Duval St. The on-street,
sanctioned vendors sporting the Fantasy Fest
logo serve Bud Light beer, mixed drinks featuring
creative coolers and samplings from Rex Goliath
Wines, Fireball Whisky, Coca-Cola, Dasani Water
and Monster Energy Drink. Local non-profits
count on the sales from the libation booths to
support their important civic activities throughout
the year.
The far end of the 700 block features the
Bourbon Street Pub Tea Dance starting at 1 PM.
The heart-pumping amplified music will draw you
from blocks away and the bevy of boys, boas
and beads will keep you rocking at this on-thestreet block party. Look up at the balcony for
one-of-a-kind display of delirious dancers and be
prepared for zingy insults from Key West’s favorite
drag queens.
And, PLEASE, don’t forget to RECYCLE!
Recycling containers donated by Coca-Cola
will be everywhere. Drop your plastic cups and
bottles and paper goods (no food, please) in the
appropriate receptacles and move on into the
revelry with your head held high and your eyes
wide open to the night’s delights.
DUVAL STREET PROMENADE
The Saturday Street Promenade, beginning at
noon on October 31, turns Key West’s delightfully
deviant main drag into a pedestrian thoroughfare,
closing off Duval St. to vehicle traffic so that

The side streets off Duval will become cuisine
central with food and libation vendors ready to
feed the hungry crowds before, during and after
the 3Wishes.com Fantasy Fest Parade. A group
of our sponsor vendors will set up on lower Duval
Street from noon until 4 PM selling Fantasy Fest
merchandise, offering tastes of Monster Energy
Drink, Fireball Whisky and Rex Goliath wines,
as well as uniquely-flavored cigars to get you
charged up for the night’s spectacle.
As always, the Promenade will feature many
of Key West’s outstanding local performers. With
a wide range of musical styles, Entertainment
Coordinator Gordon Ross promises the music
will help everyone get their interstellar groove on.
“Key West is so full of talent, I could fill three
days, not just three hours, with no trouble at all,”
Ross said.
Two stages will provide an extravaganza of
music and dance from noon until 3:45 PM. Stage
one is located in front of the La Concha Hotel at
430 Duval St. and stage two is in front of the Old
Town Mexican Café at 609 Duval St.
Featured performers will include Melody
Cooper, who again travelled to Spain this
summer to continue enhancing her craft. Cooper
is the keyboardist and lead vocalist for the crowdpleasing Paradise Big Band, which will also play
on the La Concha stage on Saturday.
Jodyrae Campbell, who often exercises her
gorgeous voice at the Aqua Idol contests and
was one of the original Spectrelles, will hit the
Promenade stage. Also at 609 Duval St. will be
local guitarist and vocalist Steve Green and the
Coffee Mill Cultural Center dancers will return with
their high energy dance styles.
Danny Simpson of Private Ear Recording
will provide sound for both stages and bring
his guitar out to help entertain the crowds. The
3Wishes.com Fantasy Fest Parade kicks off at
7 PM and travels up Duval St. for its out-of-thisworld finish.

MASQUERADE MARCH
2015
Like all the best aliens, the
Masquerade March has two
heads and a drink in each hand.
Join the hugely popular Fantasy FRIDAY
Fest tradition, known as the local’s OCTOBER 30
parade, highlighting costumes,
creativity and community.
After starting together at the Key West Cemetery
on Frances St., half of the costumed marchers head
for Truman Ave. and the other half turn toward
Fleming St. – proudly marching the wrong way
down that one-way street.
The Masquerade March is a grown-up treat (no
tricks). It’s a moving cocktail & dance party, where
each half of the parade stops at participating guest
houses, which – while supplies last – hands out
complimentary beverages. And for an extra special
treat, the Truman Route stops for a mid-March party
break at the Southernmost Hotel.
One route is led by the Hollywood Band, and the
other by the Junkanoos, both keeping the energy
high as the marchers travel down and around
ending up on Duval St., where the party continues
with the annual Duval Street Fair.

O
n Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31,
portions of Duval Street and the adjoining
side streets will be designated as the
official Fantasy Zone. The city of Key West will
temporarily suspend the normal open container
law within the Fantasy Zone for these two days
only. From noon to midnight revelers can stroll,
march, prance or do the super shuffle while
sipping libations along Duval Street from Front to
South streets, as well as intersecting cross streets
from Simonton to Whitehead St.
For your safety, cans and glass bottles are not
allowed. Please use only the paper and plastic
cups available at local bars and from vendors.
Of course, thanks to our thoughtful city staff,
all festival-goers may properly dispose of drink
containers in the many recycle bins available at
Fantasy Zone exits.
PORT-O-LETS SPELL RELIEF
Port-o-lets are just about everywhere you
may need to go during the Street Fair, Duval
Street Promenade and 3Wishes.com Fantasy
Fest Parade. Fantasy Fest sponsor Waste
Management is providing safe and clean
relief stations bordering the Duval Street
festival activities. When the urge strikes, be
sure to look for directional arrows on Duval
Street pointing toward the port-o-let locations
on the cross streets. Remember, relief is
always just around the corner!

partygoers to have a great time and stay safe.
PARADE VIEWING
The 3Wishes.com Fantasy Fest Parade launches
its extraterrestrial madness from the Gulf of Mexico
to the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015.
The parade steps off at 7 PM and takes at least two
hours to complete.
It is expected to reach its most challenging,
120-degree turn at Front and Duval Streets at
roughly 7:45 PM and should be in the upper blocks
of Duval Street around 8:30 PM.
If you’re hoping to see the extravaganza and
get home at a reasonable hour, try to catch the
madness as it passes through the intersection of
Southard and Whitehead Streets. Upper Duval,
beyond Virginia Street, is often less congested
and tends to be a little friendlier for those who are
somewhat claustrophobic. Please remember, the
downtown area is very congested and parking is
limited because most streets remain closed until the
parade is completed.

Handicapped-accessible parking and port-o-lets
will be available near the Gato Building at the corner
of Virginia and Simonton Streets.
BARRICADES
Barricades will be placed in congested areas
along the parade route to keep spectators safe
and to allow the parade entrants room to perform.
These simple yet vital pieces of equipment can
keep revelers from ending up under the wheels of a
magnificent float. They’re put up with safety in mind,
so please be a good sport when city employees
begin setting them in place before the parade.
The parade needs extra leeway from the crowd

PARADE AMBASSADORS
More than 100 Parade Ambassadors
will be stationed along the parade route
to help keep the spectators out of harm’s
way and from under the wheels of the
rolling festivities.
These very special people stay sober on
party night to be the responsible shepherds
of the 3Wishes.com Fantasy Fest Parade.
You will recognize these noble, funloving people by their distinctive T-shirts.
They each have undergone extensive
training sessions for this very important
job and they are in radio contact with
the parade director and law enforcement
personnel. Please let them know we
appreciate them. Smile, thank them, and
cooperate with their directions.
IT’S POLITE TO ASK FIRST
Please ask permission before snapping photos
of other partygoers and practice positive festival
etiquette by treating other people’s costumes (no
matter how skimpy) as works of art. Look and
admire, but don’t touch!
STREET CLOSURES
To accommodate the many street activities
during Fantasy Fest, portions of several streets will
be closed during the festivities and the parade.
• On Friday, Oct. 30, Duval Street from Front

beginning at 10 AM. Side street crossings are
at Front Street, Eaton Street, Fleming Street,
Southard Street, Angela Street, Olivia Street,

Front Street, Eaton Street, and Truman Avenue
are the only accessible cross streets.
• On Saturday, Oct. 31 from 4 PM until the
parade ends, Whitehead Street is closed
from Truman Avenue to Front Street. All Duval

the madness” says Sigafoos. “Many of them
return year after year to help control the pace of
the parade as well as keep the crowd safe and
away from the floats. We couldn’t have such a
successful parade without them!”
The shoulder-to-shoulder crowds along Duval
Street are typically good-natured and easygoing.
The overwhelming masses congregate along
the 200 and 300 blocks of Duval. Upper Duval,
south of Truman Avenue, tends to be a bit more
mellow, but we can’t make any promises.

MEET PARADE
DIRECTOR
Lindsey
Sigafoos
K
ey to the excitement and fun of
Fantasy Fest is Parade Director Lindsey
Sigafoos, who also wears a number of
hats in the Fantasy Fest office, including helping
to keep our generous sponsors on board and
up-to-date. She has been critical to producing
the Fantasy Fest parade for the past 3 years,
and Fantasy Fest Director Linda O’Brien calls her,
“One of the best account managers I’ve ever worked
with. Her responsiveness and commitment to sponsor
satisfaction really impresses.” If you run into her, ask her
about her Pez collection.
Hometown: Virginia Beach, Virginia
How long have you been in Key West? About 3 glorious years
What attracted you here? My mom spent most of her childhood
in Key West, and we vacationed here as a family. I fell in love
with the island life and the cultural diversity.
What’s your favorite part of Fantasy Fest? My favorite part
of Fantasy Fest is the last Friday and Saturday which have
the Masquerade March and the 3Wishes.com Fantasy Fest
Parade. This is my favorite part because this is when locals
and tourists come together, and you get to see the true magic
of Fantasy Fest!
Where is your favorite non-Keys place to vacation and why?
Hawaii – because I’m a beach bum at heart and the landscape
is breathtaking. You can be on the beach one hour and hiking on
a volcano or in the tropical rain forest the next.
What was your favorite Halloween costume as a kid? Hands down,
the year I was Tin Man. My mom made my costume by hand and it
was awesome!!! She used dryer vents for my legs and an oil funnel
for my hat, all sprayed silver. Of course I had a heart!!
What are your top 5 tips for enjoying the parade?
1. Get to Duval early so you can get a prime viewing location.
2. Pace yourself on the booze --you don’t want to be hazy
or running to the bathroom every 5 seconds once the
parade starts.
3. Dress up!! The more creative your costume is, the more
beads you will get!!
4. Listen to the parade ambassadors, police, and ME :)!! If you
follow directions, you will stay safe and have an enjoyable time.
5. Don’t be nude, it’s just rude.
Thanks to our wonderful sponsors, including: ATL Productions,
Coyote Ugly, Hard Rock Café, Key West Express, Lazy Gecko,

COCA-COLA
OFFICIAL SOFT DRINK COMPANY
Coca-Cola once again is the official soft drink
sponsor for Fantasy Fest. Sticking with Coca-Cola’s mission to
refresh the world, mind, body and spirit, they are helping to inspire
moments of joy at Fantasy Fest 2015. Coca-Cola has also generously
donated over 100 recycling bins this year, and would like to remind everyone to please
recycle responsibly.
Sales Center Manager JD Smith is excited about partnering with Fantasy Fest. “At
Coca-Cola, each local bottling facility gets involved with the community in which we do
business to create a better place for everyone to live. Through our commitment with Fantasy
Fest to help in the recycling efforts, we feel we exemplify our motto to LIVE POSITIVELY!”
For all your soft drinks, PowerAde, and Dasani Water, think of Coca-Cola products. You
will find these thirst quenching products available at all vendor booths during the Street Fair
and Promenade and at all major stores nationwide. Coca-Cola.com

HELP SAVE THE PLANET. RECYCLE!
W
e’ve invited aliens from all over the galaxy to Fantasy Fest this year
and we don’t want them to think we have a trashy planet. Help us
make a good impression, save the planet’s resources and make this
the greenest Fantasy Fest ever by recycling as you eat, drink and party.
Putting together a recycling program for an event of this magnitude requires lots of people working
together. Fantasy Fest sponsor Coca-Cola, the wonderful officials from the City of Key West and
its Public Works and Community Relations Departments, Waste Management, the volunteers who
help with the Street Fair and the 3Wishes.com Fantasy Fest Parade route and, of course, the Tourist
Development Association and Market Share Company, who produce Fantasy Fest, have each brought
something special to creating a viable recycling project for Fantasy Fest.
Once again, one of the festival’s most loyal sponsors, Coca-Cola, is loaning the festival more than
100 recycle bins, so a well-marked receptacle will be placed at every corner in the Fantasy Zone.
Waste Management is now able to accept all seven of the hard plastics categories, making even more
drinking cups recyclable. Look for recycle bins on each street corner along Friday’s Masquerade March.
The City has purchased different bags for recycling (clear) and for regular trash (black). Both bags
will be distributed to the street vendors during Fantasy Fest. Public Works will extend their pick up hours
during the heaviest days of the festival. Please help when you see cleanup service vehicles. Let them
through so they can continue the trash and cleanup efforts that make our city a shining jewel!
“Recycling is an important priority for Key West year-round and we are proud of the team that has
come together to keep things clean and green during the All Hallows Intergalactic Freak Show, said
festival director, Linda O’Brien.

OFFICIAL MEDALLION PENDANT
OF FANTASY FEST 2015 –
“The Avatar”
ALEXANDER J. CALDER ARTS
MANAGEMENT, LLC
Alexander J. Calder Arts Management, LLC has partnered with
the renowned artist and sculptor, Daniel J. Riccio, to create a unique
collectible medallion pendant to commemorate Fantasy Fest 2015.
“The Avatar” is a truly beautiful sculpted piece of wearable art,
designed exclusively for the Fantasy Fest enthusiast. Each piece
is numbered and signed by the artist. Production is limited to no
more than 750 bronze and 200 sterling silver pendants.
Interesting facts about “The Avatar”: It is approximately
50mm in size and is cast from 10 different components pieced
together by hand. The bronze is mixed for each pour which adds individuality. The
medallion contains an internal bell, which produces sound. Pictured is the male side of the
two-sided pendent, with both a male and female face, featuring eyes that float. A trident
clapper produces a musical voice inviting good karma. The Avatar includes both a wearable
pendant and a convenient display stand—so you will be able to enjoy your fantasy treasure
for many years to come.
Share your experience and create great memories. You don’t have to wear much, but
don’t be caught at Fantasy Fest 2015 without your official Avatar medallion pendant.
Once the 950th pendant is sold, the mold will be destroyed and there will no longer be
any available. Order yours TODAY, as early orders will receive lower-numbered pendants.
Visit us at the Street Fair and Promenade on Oct. 30 & 31, or order online at:
